Does anyone else find it odd that Josh Kattus signed with UK instead of UM?
3* 6'4", 235-lb TE out of Archbishop Moeller in Cincinnati and son of former Wolverine/Harbaugh teammate Eric.
I know he's ranked a bit low in the non-24/7 services, but he seems like our prototypical TE recruit. Or at least he would've been last year.
Magnus, you know anything about his recruitment? Did we formally offer?
I had some leftover chicken I roasted in the oven over the weekend, so I made a chicken sandwich with sliced white cheddar for lunch. Kind of dry, so I put on extra mayo.
Pony? That you?
I ate 40 pizzas in 30 days.
Do you remember that guy who ate at McDonald’s every day for like a year?
It was every meal every day for a month for his movie, Supersize Me. He didn't make it the full month.
Still a great movie and probably just as relevant today as ever.
I never eat at McDonald's and seldom eat fast food but I hate it when people make a lot of money by being deceptive. He was completely unscientific, produced no evidence, had no specifics or documentation. To prove the point the Director of the Center for Nutrition and Performance at Drexel ate exclusively at McDonald's for a month and gained no weight and had no negative health effects. (She was very tired of it at the end of the month though!!!!!) Just to show it was a con numerous other people also ate McDonald's for a month and were fine. Even if he did exactly as claimed he only apparently proved that if you jam huge amounts of foods that are high in fats and carbohydrates in you it will not go well. What a revelation! I'm so sorry I didn't give him any of my money!

Yeah, his total cholesterol went up to 320 and his LDL was 185. Quite high and luckily he stopped after one year.
Oh man, Friday, I really wanted an egg salad sandwich and I was just obsessing about it and I was like, "Man, I'm gonna make one of those." So Saturday, I went out and got, like, a dozen eggs and then I boiled them all and I just, I spent, I dunno, probably three hours, like three and a half hours making, you know, the mayonnaise, the onions, and paprika and, you know, the necessary accoutrement. And then, by the time I was done, I didn't really feel like eating it. And I didn't have any bread.
8.7.3Accoutrement. Accoutrement!
Last night was Taco Tuesday.
There is an offer listed on his 247 page, but that always comes with an asterisk. Looks like his top list of teams were mostly MAC schools plus UK and Arkansas.
Magnus? Is this your ghost account?
Not all legacies are created equal (Will Johnson says Hi!).
If the rankings hold up then Will Johnson will be much better than his father. I can definitely get on board with those legacies too.
Someone please alert Mike Boren.
In fairness, little Boren #2 turned out alright at OSU.

The Borens are to Michigan football as Benedict Arnold is to patriotism.
Craig Dunaway's tight end son signed with FCS Princeton and then never played football again after high school.
Which means he would have never seen the field here.
I’m sure looking on with interest at Juwan Howard’s kids as examples of legacy. Dad was special and the kids might be, too. Pretty rare for the child to exceed the parent, though.

Dell Curry says hi
He said pretty rare, not impossible. Do you have a handful of other examples to prove him wrong?

Well Steve Izzo plays for a Power 5 school while his dad played DII.
I think Michigan did "formally" offer, but they just did not pursue him very hard. I'm just a guy with a 247 subscription, but from what I can tell, Michigan has other targets that are higher on their board this year.
The staff really loves Marlin Klein, their current TE commit out of Georgia, and they seem to be trying to swing for the fences with any other TE they take in this class. The other guys they are after, like Oscar Delp, are all very highly rated.
I don’t know any details of his recruitment, but his name hasn’t come up much in the recruiting sources I follow. We already have one (quite intriguing) 3-star TE in this class who seems firmly committed, so if we take another, I’d expect it to be more of a top-250, national recruit type of guy
Yes, because he almost has the same name as the OC
A conversation that happens every day of their lives, probably.
Vinny: I play football under my legally changed stage name
Judge: and what name is that?
Vinny: Josh Gattis
the next day
Judge: You're a dead man
Vinny: I'm a dead man?
Judge: Yes, I faxed the athletic department at Michigan and asked what he knew about Josh Gattis. And do you want to know what he replied?
Vinny: Did you say Josh GATTIS?
Judge: Yes...
Vinny: Gattis with a G?
Judge: Yes...
Vinny: Josh Gattis is DEAD!
Judge: I'm aware of that!
Vinny: I'm not Josh GATTIS. I'm Josh KATTUS. K-A-T-T-U-S.
After the recruiting dead period ends...
Judge: I have a fax here from the athletic department in Ann Arbor. I owe you an apology, sir. I'm honored to shake your hand. "Win some, lose some." Your on-field manner may be rather unconventional, but you're one hell of a tight end. I'm honored to shake your hand.
....cute. And I thought I spent too much time on the blog.
That comment made me spit out my coffee.
Plus effing one, here, OA. Nicely done
OA- this is excellent.... sorry for the sidebar, cool story bro, but I was a ski bum in Aspen many moons ago after graduating from Michigan. One of my good friends was Madyn Gwynne, she is Fred Gwynne's daughter, your judge above... As the old farts probably know, he was famous for being Herman Munster...but he was revered in NYC as a terrific stage actor on Broadway. I visited her several times at their flat in NYC and he was always so gracious, friendly and a story teller (tall as hell). I remembering asking him how he decided on certain roles as his daughter had told me about his Broadway work, but I only knew him as Herman Munster.... first, he said, you are an actor, so you take the work and make the best of it...but then he said, as you have a bit of success, its fun to take chances or take roles that people would never expect you to perform. He told me he had a new role in a film coming up that no one would expect him to take.... but he would not tell me the name of the movie. Yeah, that movie...My Cousin Vinny, he was awesome in it as a southern judge and he had a strong NY accent, you sure as hell wouldn't have known it.....
That is a very cool story, bro! Thanks for sharing.
Now this is the kind of content I come here for!
Wait - you don't even know if he was offered (or pursued) and you're asking us if we find it odd he signed with someone else? I'd say no, that is not odd at all.
I've seen conflicting reports of whether he was offered or not, but the analyst consensus seems to be he is going to rise quickly as a senior, and I just thought it was interesting that he signed so early with someone that wasn't us, given the familial connection.
I get the feeling people making Josh Gattis jokes aren’t aware of the history. Eric Kattus wasn’t just any UofM tight end. He was a team captain and one of the best tight ends in Michigan history. Maybe his son is making a commitment now to lock in a spot someplace. Or maybe he’s not as good as his dad at football. Time will tell.

Cincinnati Moeller rising junior tight end Josh Kattus grew up with Michigan football.
His father, Eric Kattus, was a team captain at Michigan, an All-Big Ten performer, and a fourth-round draft choice of the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1986 draft. His senior year in Ann Arbor, Kattus caught eight touchdown passes at tight end, all coming off the arm of current head coach Jim Harbaugh.
You do realize that he hasn't signed, can't sign until December and can change his mind if he does move up in the rankings this Fall?

I typed signed but meant committed. Sorry.
I really thought this was going to be a bad Josh Gattis joke and was ready to downvote. Slightly disappointed.
who?
Mike Jones!
I still try to occasionally describe the thread which spawned this joke to people, and it really does turn out that you just had to be there. I am fortunate that I was.
But do you also tell them about the song(s) that led to the joke?
I was there and I don't even understand it...

Funny (probably only to me) story. I was completely unaware of the Mike Jones meme, but stumbled upon a threat at just the right time when someone mentioned Mike Jones. Since I genuinely did not know who that was, I replied with "Who is Mike Jones?"
I was really confused when it got like 40 upvotes and a bevy of "hahaha" and "lol" type responses.
After googling "Mike Jones" and "who is Mike Jones," I understood.
Hilarious. Harbaugh you suck!!!
Many things that teenagers do are odd.
Let me try this again. Hilarious. Harbaugh you suck!!!!
