Did you complete your honey do list from this past weekend?
Ok, back in this board post many of us listed what we had been assigned to do over the long weekend without Michigan football: https://www.mgoblog.com/mgoboard/friday-posbang-honey-do-edition.
Mine were:
- Replacing the head gasket on my son's Honda Civic.
- Renting a truck to empty a storage locker. We rented two to clear out stuff from our house we were selling. Not sure where we are going to put it all, but our winter coats are stored in one of the lockers.
- Parse out stuff from the locker and determine what to keep and what to un-ass to the Veterans or Lupus folks or some other charity.
I did all of mine, though the gasket that needed to be replaced on my son's Civic was the valve cover gasket.
I'm following up on you slackers. Did you all complete your honey do lists? Those who only planned to drink, did you? Watch football all weekend? Did you?

All of my goals are still in front of me.
November 12th, 2019 at 9:53 AM ^
Ok, keep at it.
November 12th, 2019 at 9:54 AM ^
I shoveled snow. That’s all my life will consist of the next 5 months or so, is snow blowing and shoveling snow.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:01 AM ^
My snowblower died a few years ago and I've yet to replace it. My back is fucked today, even though I shoveled twice.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:57 AM ^
If it's any consolation, I own a perfectly good snowblower and said the hell with it, I'm shoveling, because I'm positive this thick, heavy, sticky shit that fell yesterday would've rendered the snowblower worthless.
November 12th, 2019 at 11:08 AM ^
Round one was really wet and heavy. Round two was really light powder, which ruined my snowman plans.
November 12th, 2019 at 3:54 PM ^
Yes, I painted the back walls. List done
November 12th, 2019 at 10:31 AM ^
I gave up on clearing snow from our absurdly long driveway several years ago. Hired a guy with a snowplow to come clear it and have been happy ever since. No more getting up in the wee hours to clear the driveway before my wife heads to the hospital for her 7am shift (which means 4:30 for me) or her trying to drive through the snow when I'm out of town.
Our driveway:
November 12th, 2019 at 10:37 AM ^
That is absurd. By my estimate about 2.5x longer than it needs to be.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:51 AM ^
Just shoveled the driveway with my fiance and 2 shovels. Took us 1.5 hours. It’s not quite as long as yours, but it’s a country driveway set back off the road
November 12th, 2019 at 5:33 PM ^
How do you shovel with a fiance? Does he/she just lay on their side and you push them along?
Doesn't seem efficient.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:58 AM ^
That is one incredibly well-done humblebrag, sir, my hat is off to you.
November 12th, 2019 at 11:18 AM ^
I was reluctant to show my driveways...
November 12th, 2019 at 2:33 PM ^
Identity confirmed.
November 12th, 2019 at 11:14 AM ^
Nothing runs like a "Deere".
November 12th, 2019 at 11:46 AM ^
A front end loader is the answer to many of life's problems. And ask a farmer about long 'driveways '. Lots of stuff to keep clear.
November 12th, 2019 at 12:14 PM ^
I now know where you live. I'll stop by sometime. Do you have Xbox?
November 12th, 2019 at 3:26 PM ^
sick bro
November 12th, 2019 at 9:55 AM ^
Nope. I took a deferment to after the regular season. I’m sure the interest charges won’t be worth it but I did what I did.
November 12th, 2019 at 9:56 AM ^
Did nothing of any consequence.
No ragrets.
November 12th, 2019 at 9:56 AM ^
My list was just my wife. Thankfully I was able to do that.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:43 PM ^
Weren't we all?
November 12th, 2019 at 9:59 AM ^
I did not complete my drywall project, but I got it started. One and a half walls are done. I was able to work on it while watching the Bama-LSU game and the PSU vs Minnesota game. That big wide receiver from Minnesota is the real deal.
Side question for my drywall advisers: do you use the mesh tape for seams or smooth tape?
November 12th, 2019 at 10:01 AM ^
Aren't you going to tell us if you went horizontal or vertical?
November 12th, 2019 at 10:55 AM ^
Also curious here. My guess is he’s a horizontal guy
November 13th, 2019 at 12:04 PM ^
I did some of both depending on where windows and doors are. I will post pictures when it's done.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:54 AM ^
Is the taping even necessary? Can’t you just hit all your seams and nails with some puddy/spackle and sand it down once dry? Otherwise, i guess smooth?
November 12th, 2019 at 10:56 AM ^
Do not use the mesh tape, It sucks.
November 12th, 2019 at 11:58 AM ^
Smooth, all day. Mesh doesn't look or hold as good. There is more tolerance but if you can do it go smooth.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:04 AM ^
Had to work Sunday but did leaf and lawn duty Saturday and put brakes on my sons car. Went to menards and got a pallet of wood pellets, watched some of the buckeye game, turned channel of buckeye game. Thoroughly enjoyed watching Mr Hankey get his goofy ass kicked, then went into a depressive drinking state about losing to mr Hankey.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:05 AM ^
Only a chimp would complete a honey do list...if you finish it she won't need you anymore!
Is Rgard really 37 monkeys randomly banging on keyboards and one compiles a post now and then? Koalas think so
November 12th, 2019 at 10:23 AM ^
Ha! You don't know my wife. The honey do list will never be completed. She just adds stuff to it as I complete tasks.
When I die, whatever I didn't get done will probably be chiseled on my grave stone to keep me busy in heaven or hell.
Koalas have just about the lowest brain weight to body weight ratio in all of Mammalia, though some can create poetry.
Just one of us here typing away...

I fixed the bathroom sink, but the electrical outlet behind my fridge remains broken. I pulled out the fridge, cleaned up 5 years of gunk, magnetic letters, and fossilized food items behind it, and replaced the outlet.
The new outlet doesn't work either and I have no idea what the problem is. The wire is hot, so there's power going to it, but the wiring is ancient (two wires, one white, one black, and nothing else). So until I can figure out wtf is going on back there, or God forbid pay someone to do it for me, the fridge is plugged into a different outlet via the orange extension cord I use for my leaf blower.
Any electricians up in here with advice?
November 12th, 2019 at 10:25 AM ^
I'd suggest youtube, but messing with electricity is not good. Do you have a home warranty? If yes, pay the deductible and get a professional in.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:27 AM ^
Not an electrician so don't take my advice. Sounds like it's ungrounded outlet to my amateur ears.
https://inspectapedia.com/electric/Electrical_Outlet_2-Wire_Connections.php see if there's anything useful here, though if it is ungrounded you may wanna change that.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:52 AM ^
I'm sure it's ungrounded. The house was built in 1949 and most of it has the original wiring (protected by a fuse box). I need to have all of the electrical and plumbing replaced eventually, but that's not in the budget for another year or two at the earliest.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:33 AM ^
Not an electrician, but google wiring with no ground wire.
November 12th, 2019 at 12:07 PM ^
Not an electrician.
Is it hot at the receptacle? Got your neutral (white) on the tall side of the receptacle? Do think of decepticons when saying receptacle?
November 12th, 2019 at 10:07 AM ^
You guys only get honey do lists during bye weeks?
November 12th, 2019 at 11:04 AM ^
Actually I just ignore the list when it's time to watch Michigan.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:07 AM ^
Hire out someone to do most stuff. Football season is only few months long. Not missing any of it
November 12th, 2019 at 10:09 AM ^
Got up on the ladders and cleaned out the gutters, then helped the wife get all the Halloween stuff inside and packed away. Got it all done before the snow and damn glad I did—cleaning out gutters filled with a mass of ice-bound leaves while standing on an extension ladder in freezing temps sucks bigtime. Didn’t get leaves done on the ground but it’ll wait until spring now.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:18 AM ^
Mine were:
1) Attend griffins game on $2 beer/dog night.
2) Watch MSU implode with your family who are mostly MSU fans.
3) Got some brunch and watched Liverpool/Man City match
I would say i did quite well last weekend.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:19 AM ^
I filled mine by making sure she did all her chores, Which included everything to be done. had to rest up for the game Saturday.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:19 AM ^
Load the kids in the Minivan and get to Grandma's house in Fla. for a family beach wedding.
Mission Accomplished!
I'm I missing anything interesting up there?
November 12th, 2019 at 10:29 AM ^
Apparently a glacier has formed and covered Ann Arbor.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:24 AM ^
- finish installing gutter guard on our new gutters (includes walking around on the roof of our ranch house blowing leaves out of the gutters with a leaf blower - good times) - check
- get the dog groomed - check
- return closet doors we changed our minds on to Menard's - check
- buy and install new outlets, switches, and wall plates after living room/foyer makeover - almost done. There were a couple of outlets/switches tied into other circuits, so will do those this weekend. One was tied into the kitchen circuit and cooking was afoot...
- fix the hallway bathroom faucet - decided it's a piece of crap and it needs to be replaced. Not yet complete. )
November 12th, 2019 at 10:29 AM ^
Y'all have convinced me not to buy a house. Or at least a house with gutters, closet doors and electricity.
November 12th, 2019 at 10:32 AM ^
Don't forget sump pumps/basements, well, and septic.
November 12th, 2019 at 2:03 PM ^
Never buy a house with plumbing, either. It’s an endless source of leaky faucets, leaky shutoff valves, and noisy toilets.
