New insider? I'm not sure because it's not posted in code.
August 31st, 2023 at 11:21 AM ^
I'll take a stab at translating -
Apparrently the only guy on the team with a backup is JJ.
August 31st, 2023 at 3:43 PM ^
Where is the “chart” part
August 31st, 2023 at 11:13 AM ^
Hinton at tackle instead of Henderson would be quite the surprise. That would suggest a HUGE leap forward.
August 31st, 2023 at 11:23 AM ^
I thought Henderson was at LT and Hinton was at RT. Maybe I am wrong.
August 31st, 2023 at 11:24 AM ^
I mean it's been reported that there will be two different sets of starting tackles for the first two games
August 31st, 2023 at 12:49 PM ^
Yes, and if you want to get crazy with speculation, this could suggest that the projected starters are really Henderson at LT and Jones at RT given that Cade started QB for game 1 and JJ game 2 last year. I am inclined to believe that this really is an open competition however.
August 31st, 2023 at 11:28 AM ^
Saab replacing Moore would be a bigger leap. Is he hurt?
I thought Saab was behind Zeke Berry.
August 31st, 2023 at 11:33 AM ^
Moore is said to be hurt (paige too, but must be good enough to go on). Saab has recently been said to be ahead of Berry, but both are studs i read.
For me, the shocker is Hinton starting. Out of the 4 Tackles, i gave him about a 5% chance to be one of the top 2 (starters).
August 31st, 2023 at 11:45 AM ^
Reading the tea leaves, last year Cade started game 1 against CSU then JJ got Hawaii and stayed the starter. Therefore, Barnhart and Hinton are actually the 2s but are being given a shot for their great camp performances. Henderson and Jones will start game 2 and not relinquish it.
I know its a meritocracy and all, but I'll feel bad for Henderson if he forwent the NFL draft to come to Michigan and improve his stock only to ride the pine.
August 31st, 2023 at 11:48 AM ^
Henderson missed spring practice. I’m not surprised he’s being given another week to learn the offense.
August 31st, 2023 at 12:06 PM ^
Henderson is transferring in to take the job of someone like Barnhart. Sometimes you lose when you bet on yourself. I would feel more bad for Barnhart if he didn't start.
August 31st, 2023 at 12:34 PM ^
Yeah I feel bad for every recruit that comes to michigan and doesn't play. But on the bright side Henderson, Barnhart, Jones, and Hinton can all come back next season and play so there is still opportunity.

Rumor is Rod Moore tore his meniscus and will be out a while
August 31st, 2023 at 12:00 PM ^
JH said that neither the Moore or Paige injuries were things that would keep them out for weeks.
August 31st, 2023 at 12:05 PM ^
We need a new rule that says if people are going to post rumors then they need to explain where they heard the rumor and why we should trust it, otherwise they get cast into a volcano
August 31st, 2023 at 12:20 PM ^
LOL - that's fair. I got that rumor from the 247 message board (not from an insider so I think it's okay to bring here?)
September 1st, 2023 at 11:40 AM ^
Thats a great way to get people not to share what they know.
August 31st, 2023 at 12:18 PM ^
To be fair, depending on the meniscus tear these days you could be back from that in like two weeks. Did that happen to like JT Barrett a few years back or something? And maybe some Bama RB sounds familiar?
August 31st, 2023 at 12:41 PM ^
Yeah, Barrett got his knee scoped the day after the Michigan game in 2017 and played in the BTCG the following Saturday.
August 31st, 2023 at 1:21 PM ^
If this rumor turns out to be true, remember this moment.
I will NEVER forget the time that a guy came on the message board to tell us that Purdue’s first play from scrimmage would be a throwback screen to the QB. He was absolutely excoriated here - people demanded his source, and when he refused to name it, they just flamed him. I don’t think he ever posted again. Purdue’s first play was indeed a throwback screen that went for a big gain.
This board is fucking HARSH with semi-anonymous tips, unsourced rumors, or “insider” information. There have been folks over the years who have just made up stories pretending that they know something, so some reticence is definitely warranted. But the default response seems to be “you’re making it up” rather than “I guess we’ll see if you’re full of shit or not.”
I got wind, a couple seasons ago, of exactly one tidbit that ended up being true, and never posted it here. Not worth it.
August 31st, 2023 at 2:22 PM ^
Spot-on, especially your last sentence. Go back a year or so ago and check out a few of my posts (that weren't reported elsewhere). I'd post a lot more good stuff but this is largely a toxic board. "Not worth it" indeed.
August 31st, 2023 at 4:02 PM ^
I’d assume all rumors with a real source are not going to name their source.
Maybe we need a rumor depth rating:
1: Poster has history of pretending to be an insider
2: 3rd hand from a message board
3: First hand but can’t name source
4: Poster has a limited track record of unlikely but accurate predictions
5: Poster has “relations” with a staff member’s off-spring
From now on you can give yourself a rating. :)

Add in the fact that Harbaugh very rarely says that someone will be out for a longer period of time. So for those saying "Harbaugh said it's no big deal" doesn't always mean that's true.
August 31st, 2023 at 8:46 PM ^
whatever RDT
September 1st, 2023 at 11:39 AM ^
Assuming this is its true - any word on if it's a repair (out months like Corum) or a meniscectromy (just out a couple weeks)
August 31st, 2023 at 3:23 PM ^
Moore and Paige are both hurt.
Sabb, Johnson and Berry are expected to be the 3 safeties.
September 2nd, 2023 at 12:11 PM ^
As I said, Paige is starting. Not hurt.
August 31st, 2023 at 12:45 PM ^
Hinton and Jones are battling at RT. Henderson and Barnhart are battling at LT.
Harbaugh said they would start two different pairs of tackles in each of the first two games, so what this probably means is...
Game one: LT Barnhart, RT Hinton
Game two: LT Henderson, RT Jones
My own personal approach if I were doing this would be to put in the #1 LT with the #2 RT and then the #2 LT with the #1 RT. I wouldn't want to put in both inferior tackles at the same time. That way I could protect my QB/RB as best as possible. I know he's saying all four are starter-quality, but there's probably at least an inkling of an idea of which ones are at the top.
August 31st, 2023 at 1:13 PM ^
If both spots are both OR designations (player x OR player y), then technically there is no 1 or 2 at either spot.
August 31st, 2023 at 1:19 PM ^
Right. His post did not make sense. If 4 people are battling for the 2 spots (OR's), then technically, there is no inferior player.
August 31st, 2023 at 1:51 PM ^
Yes, you summed that up better than I did. I would understand his point if there was a clear-cut 1 and 2, but in this case (as far we know) both left and right tackles are neck and neck.
September 6th, 2023 at 10:26 AM ^
I mean, "technically," sure. Because "technically" means you have to write it on a piece of paper.
I'm going to liken it to ordering at a restaurant. When I go to a restaurant, sometimes I'm torn on what to order. I want to get the steak because I love steak, but I'm thinking about ordering the chicken because it's lower in calories and a little bit cheaper.
Technically, I'm telling the people at dinner that I can't decide which one I want to order.
But we all know I want the steak.

You seem rather sure of your position. It resonates.
August 31st, 2023 at 3:22 PM ^
Not a surprise at all.
Henderson is battling Barnhart and Hinton is battling Jones at RT.
Henderson and Jones are expected to start Game #2, Crippen might start Game #2 as well.
August 31st, 2023 at 6:45 PM ^
Henderson was competing at LT. He was a guard at ASU with the thought that he could slide out to tackle. Hinton was battling Trente Jones at RT.
August 31st, 2023 at 11:13 AM ^
I feel like this should be translated into morse code
August 31st, 2023 at 12:49 PM ^
Was it not already?
August 31st, 2023 at 11:13 AM ^
Any world on who is playing Nickel with Sainristill moving to CB?
August 31st, 2023 at 11:29 AM ^
Has to be Kody Jones. He's been hyped up as the heir apparent at nickel going back to last season.
August 31st, 2023 at 2:08 PM ^
My brain switched that to Kobi Jones, the USMNT player from the 90s.
August 31st, 2023 at 3:26 PM ^
Rod Moore is the #2 at NB...but he's banged up
August 31st, 2023 at 11:47 AM ^
when in nickel package, Sainristill to nickel, McBurrows to corner.
August 31st, 2023 at 6:46 PM ^
Okay but it’s 2023. You’re basically always in nickel package. Almost pointless to call Mikey the starting corner at that point. Your base defense is essentially the nickel package at this point
August 31st, 2023 at 3:25 PM ^
Kody Jones and Ja'Den McBurrows.
But that's because Rod Moore is hurt.
If Moore wasn't hurt, it would be him and Sabb, Johnson or Berry would join Paige at Safety.
August 31st, 2023 at 11:18 AM ^
If anyone is having trouble reading the OP I translated it.
Start OL KB LT, TG LG, DN C, ZZ RG, MH RT
CB: JW and MS
S: KS and MP
QB #2: DW
August 31st, 2023 at 3:20 PM ^
Ooooohhhh...so close, but I am going to have to deduct some points for failing to cryptically call for a recruit to commit to UM who invariably ends up committing elsewhere.
For example, BU comin!
