Well Dennis Norfleet took to Instagram on Wednesday Morning to apologize for what has happend.

I've been crying so much I have no more tears to give I just want to give an apology to all the Michigan fans and the Michigan alumni last but not least my team. We been through it all we all have the same goals that we want to reach but I've been talking to God everything is going to be alright for those who don't know what's going on... Trust me I will be okay things happen for reason #MajQr

Dennis, If you read this, know that we're all hoping you solve your academic problems and continue to the degree. We'd also like to see you on the team.

Whatever happens with football, afterwards perhaps Dennis should consider moving out here to LA and become a Dance Instructor.  He would make a fortune teaching white celebrities and wanna bees how to move.  I am being serious, the kid has  talent.

I guess I'll jump into your negbang with you... I actually agree with you. While your remark probably comes across as a little rough, your basic assertion is correct. God has better things to worry about than whether GROWN MAN DENNIS NORFLEET makes it to his finals or not. Unless there are some extenuating circumstances that we aren't privy to. I like Norfleet as a player, but missing a final (finals?) is inexcusable unless there was some massive emergency. In the event of said emergency, I would assume the school and football coach would know about it.

I'm 30 and haven't attended a class in like 7 years and I still get those dreams. Difference is now all I have to do is remember that classes are over so I can find immediate relief instead of checking my schedule over and over again just to make sure I have it right for the thousandth time.

though now it is fuzzy in my mind if I really slept through 8AM Chemistry 124 fall semester Freshman year, or just dream about it that way. (Maybe I slept through the class in the lecture hall. I seem to recall sliding into the 10AM lecture a lot.) I passed the class, but somehow that one has scarred me for life.

As for Dennis: all I can say is we all get into bad places in life. Work through it the right way, you will discover who really cares (and sometimes that is tough love), they will be behind you, and you'll be able to stand tall when you look back at the crisis.

Good God, can you change "apologize" to "apologizes" or "apology" in the OP? Thought I was at RCMB for a minute.

I entered this thread thinking someone surely would have called out the OP for this being kind of old news (since it made it to mlive before here)... Anyway.. The whole situation is strange. Dennis is being very vague on Instagram about all of this, yet his high school coach is all over the media.. What.. The.. Damn.. Hell..

Beautiful, sincere, raw heartfelt apology. Norfleet is so clearly taking responsibility for himself, and acknowledging that he has made some bad decisions. Owning up to your own mistakes and not making excuses is the beginning. Seeing that your life is unmanageable is key. It is interesting that he mentions talking to God . . . regardless of who you understand God to be, making a decision to turn your life over to him is also a very important step. My heart goes out to Dennis.

It is truly my hope that with help from the coaching and support staff, along with his professors, Norfleet will be given the opportunity to pass his classes, and to right the ship academically. It is hard, but he can do it.

This whole story hits me personally. I flunked out of UofM not once, but twice. I was having too much fun, and I'm ashamed to say I didn't take advantage of the wonderful academic opportunities available at UofM. Thankfully, I had an awesome academic counselor who really went to bat for me, and helped me get my life in order. Without that support, I never would have graduated from UofM, and eventually done graduate work. Sadly, for some of us, you have to learn the hard way.

Believe it or not, my fraternity actually took a saw to the top of an old station wagon, painted it red with rollers, put a ladder and a garden hose on the side, and used it in a parade, mocking another fraternity. I have extremely fond memories of my time at Michigan, but at the same time, I sometimes have regrets at not getting more out of the academic opportunities.

I hope he gets his situation straightened out and is able to play this fall. The fans love this guy and so do I. One of the faster guys we have and plus who don't like watching him dance

Whatever the reasons for him being in this position, it is a great personal tragedy that Norfleet will probably never get over. Whether we see it as justified or not, whether we see it as kids making mistakes, at this point the only person who has to make peace with all of it is Dennis. And it will be very hard for him. I speak from experience. Not a day goes by in which I dont regret the mistakes that cut my playing days short. My heart hurt for the kid.

I'm hoping this is step #1 on the climb back to the team. I really want our University to stand up and help those who ask for it and this statement is as big a cry/ask for help as I can see.

Do the work and get back home, Fleet!

Best of luck to you.

However, there is some speculation that they are working with him and the university to help him finish his degree. There are three things going on here. 1) Academics 2) Violation of team rules 3) already been disciplined under Hoke

So, there is proven history and a recurring theme. Let's just hope his H.S. Coach shuts up and let's this thing rest. Dennis does not need all the negative publicity and for his private life to be played out in public.

Not by any means is Norfleet the most athletic, or valuable football player on the roster, but this kid has so much ethusiasim. Norfleet is a great special teams player and the boy is always screaming his head off with excitement, something i wish every player would do, play crazy.

Right now, all we can do is pray for Norfleet, if that's what you're into, and hope he get's on the right path because nobody deserves to suffer.

It is fine.  No way the Michigan Fan Base can get mad at you.

We love you and we are with you in whatever you are going through.  We (or at least most of us) will give you some space because it seems that is what you need.  That does NOT mean that you will be forgotten.  Good luck.

We've all been there, whether anybody else knew it or not. And Harbaugh...take a break from Offers to nowhere and tend to one of your flock who is right there in front of you. DO THE HARD THING and help guide this young man back to his dream!
