a quote:

"Oh yea, I'll make official visits to all three," Hart said. "I'm going to Michigan Sept. 4 for the Michigan-UConn game."

Can you provide proof to substantiate you're claims?

I am curious.

It's much less what he said and more how he said it.  He stated a claim contrary to nearly ALL evidence available to the casual observer, and failed to substantiate any of it.  Had he instead said what you and others have (clearing house issues, can't take an official, will probably visit Auburn instead) then we wouldn't be having this issue.

Not everyone can be cryptic like Obes and get away with it...

You stated it like it was common knowledge, which it wasn't when you posted.  Expanding on such a comment  helps the board interpret it as useful insight rather than what it came across as, a flame.

As stated, I had gone back and upvoted the post.  However, I just went back and downvoted it again... not for the context of the comment, but because you are d-bag.

I would much rather hear this from TomVH before believing any rumors--but it looks like this may be the case.  Disappointing...like usual...but definitely NOT time to PANIC

already set in. This means no HaHa either even if he wasnt 100% coming. Optimism for msu and iowa games? sorry if the gloom is in the air but seriously this was huge for us as it is going to be a ridiculous atmosphere with plenty of talent on and off the field. We need to win big and have patti texting dee telling him how much hes missing out on a great visit so he wont pay any attention to the auburn staff....heres to hoping

...Div I Manual has to say about eligibility to conduct official visits:

13.6.3 Requirements for Official Visit. The following requirements must be met before an institution may provide an official visit to a prospective student-athlete: (Adopted: 4/26/07 effective 8/1/07)

(a)  A high school or preparatory school prospective student-athlete must present the institution with a score from a PSAT, SAT, PLAN or ACT taken on a national testing date under national testing conditions, except that a state-administered ACT may be used to meet the requirement. The score must be presented through a testing agency document, on a high school or preparatory school academic transcript (official or unofficial) or through the use of the applicable testing agency’s automated-voice system. An international prospective student-athlete who requires a special administration of the PSAT, SAT, PLAN or ACT may present such a score upon the approval of the Academics Cabinet or the Initial-Eligibility Waivers Committee; (Revised: 11/1/07 effective 8/1/08)

(b)  A prospective student-athlete must present this institution with a high school (or college) academic transcript;

(c)   A high school or preparatory school prospective student-athlete must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center; and (Revised: 5/9/07)

(d)  A high school or preparatory school prospective student-athlete must be placed on the institution’s institutional request list (IRL) with the NCAA Eligibility Center. (Revised: 5/9/07)

13.6.3.1 NCAA Eligibility Center. A prospective student-athlete’s fulfillment of these academic requirements may be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center approved by the Executive Committee. (Adopted: 4/26/07 effective 8/1/07)

13.6.3.2 Eligibility Ramifications. Violations of this bylaw shall be considered institutional violations per Constitution 2.8.1; however, they shall not affect the prospective student-athlete’s eligibility. (Adopted: 4/26/07 effective 8/1/07

So yes, the prospective student-athlete must provide a standardized test score and a transcript to the NCAA Eligibility Center (the Clearinghouse), but there's no requirement to be "cleared" by the Clearinghouse.  I find it hard to believe that Dee Hart hasn't established his account with the Clearinghouse and provided these two items.

But when it comes to recruiting, nothing really surprises me too much.

He's right, I just talked to Demetrius and he said they're not coming. That's too bad. He said it is a clearinghouse issue, but there's just some paperwork missing, nothing that will keep him from quailfying.

He's going to reschedule, not sure which one he'll make it to.

...that could be missing are a standardized test score or his transcript.  Too bad they don't have things squared away in time for the UConn game.

Any idea if Nick Patti is still going to make the trip? As you described in your diary on UConn visitors, that visit seems to have a larger purpose than simply Nick's recruitment.

2012 QB, teammate of Demetrius Hart will be up with his Dad, and potentially with his trainer Tom Shaw. Shaw trains a ton of football players in Florida, including Florida State commit Karlos Williams. Nick told me that Shaw will play a big role in his decision, and he considers Tom to be an uncle.

...that's what you should do.  Then you identify the link with a $ or just say it's behind a paywall.  Read this.

The information will spread whether or not we deploy the iron fist. The net impact of strict policing of premium content will be to obscure the source of the information. Instead of something coming from Rivals it will be a step removed or just asserted with no backing. A recent example: a premium post was replicated verbatim on HailVictors.com and then linked here pointing to HailVictors, not Scout.

So:

  • You might as well relate the gist of some paywalled content. It'll come out anyway.
  • Do not C&P. Rephrase.
  • Don't relate every last detail. Leave the paywalled content some value. In this case, "it looks good for Dee Hart and we should be getting good news relatively soon" would probably work.
  • If you do so, provide a link. Don't just say "Site X says." The link will draw some traffic, may spur conversions, and will help the site with search engine rankings.

This is not a license to rephrase every rumble from an insider or the entire contents of an ITF. Sporadic and important are your watchwords.
