CWoodson: Still Ballin'

Submitted by thethirdcoast on

I didn't see this posted, so I thought I would post it for others, scroll halfway down for the Woodson comments:

Charles Woodson, Green Bay CB

He’s not perfect, but he’s playing pretty close to last season’s defensive player of the year form.

Compare the Michigan Man Woodson's near-DPOY form to Revis and his petulant contract dispute which kept him away from training camp and the preseason. Revis' selfishness degraded his conditioning and ultimately led to his ongoing hamstring problems that are likely to cost him a step.

Meanwhile #2 is still out ballin'...

Seeing him with that interception touchdown run brought back some good memories. He's one of if not the greatest cornerback in the game. Love his number too! Desmond wore it at Michigan and also played for Green Bay! Good to see that legacy of Wolverine Heisman talent is still strong with the Packers right now.

Obviously, I'm in the same boat.  I always get upset on draft day and when undrafted free agents are signed because the Pack routinely ignores Michigan players (unlike the Bears, who seem to love them).  But the Super Bowl win with Desmond and the way Woodson is leading this defense now makes it a little better.

I love this as a Michigan fan... disappointing as a Lions fan, but still awesome to see because college football is far superior to the NFL. Kind-of like Michigan is far superior to their little brother...

Although I am a Lions fan (i know, WHY!), my dad is a Packers fan and made the comment "Hard to be mad at Woodson for a pick six aint it"  I actually was not mad he made the pick six, living in Knoxville TN Woodson is a hot topic around here, and one I bring up often.  I was more mad at the Lions qb and wr for getting something wrong to allow Woodson to make the play.  I love Woodson's continued dominance in the league!

...piece at TheWolverine.com outlining tthe seasons of Michigan players in the NFL, here are Woodson's numbers this past week and through the first four games of the season:

Charles Woodson CB Green Bay Packers 1995-97

Notched 11 solo tackles, two assists, three pass break-ups and an interception returned 48 yards for a touchdown in a 28-26 win over Detroit ... Has recorded 25 solo tackles and three assists, an interception returned 48 yards for a touchdown, four pass break-ups, two forced fumbles, three tackles for loss and two quarterback hurries this year.

He's still making it happen.  That's for damn sure.
