Could Jay be a candidate for DC?
This thread could be worthless in an hour and I admit the prospect doesn’t seem all too likely, but consider…
- Jay has been coaching in the secondary for the past two years, in addition to his role as Special Teams coordinator.
- Jay has been credited as the guy who rubbed shoulders with Phil Parker, bringing back the philosophy of coaching the defense on how to respond after a turnover.
- Oddly enough, he generally fits the bill of former Ravens coach who needs seasoning (i.e., a chance to gain experience calling his own defense).
- Many assume Jay would go to LA to coach ST, but the Chargers already have possibly the best ST coach in football.
It doesn’t hurt that he’s still one of our best recruiters. Thoughts?

Yeah - maybe I should’ve included it in the op, but I read the same thing about Clink possibly lacking interest in the DC job (hence the curiosity about Jay). Most people seem to be locked into the idea that ofc you’d want to move up forgetting that coaching is a very weird profession and some guys (Elston may or may not be another) really like the niche they’ve carved out.

Jay appears to be a very good coach. But you'd think by now he would want to strike out on his own and establish some independence.

We should be looking a little closer to the vicinity of the box.

No, Jay's career path makes the most sense as HC, in the mold of his uncle. Or as a lifer assistant.

We need someone familiar with the Ravens scheme. Clink, Elston or a Ravens staffer will be the move. If not, whatever DC coming in will have to run this scheme with some wrinkles.

clink is pissed about somethin ….his ig story (click on his profile pic) which expires in 24 hours is strange. I interpreted it as moore didn’t offer the dc to him and he’s about to walk on
