Confessions of a Michigan Football Fan
11 Warriors has an interesting piece on their site where they "invite you (their readers) to spill your sins, real or perceived, against Ohio State athletics." It makes for a fun/entertaining read and I thought we Michigan fans probably have plenty of interesting thoughts to spill as well.
So I guess I'll start with my 3 confessions:
-I love Ann Arbor to death, but I don't think it's the best college town in the Big Ten. I think that privilege goes to Madison.
-I'm a Hoke fan, and I love Mattison and think Nussmeier was a great pick up, but State has the best all-around football staff/coaches in the Big Ten. Hands down.
-Here's my big one... Had we played Nebraska in a BCS Championship-like game back in '97, I think they would've won.
Bonus: I LOVE the movie "Rudy" and have no real negative feelings toward Notre Dame at all.

Multiple Super Bowl rings and married to Gisele Bundchen, you can curse me any day.
...partially because Michigan created the script Ohio.
“Ted Boehm, OSU marching band member in 1935 and 1936, and considered an “authority” on Script Ohio, wrote that indeed, Michigan had performed the first Ohio in script.”

In addition to me being a dick about Gardner until I realized how bad our offense really was, I dogged LeVert. But that one week we had in between the Iowa and Wisconsin beatdowns in hoops, I had an epiphany about Caris, where I realized he was a baller of the highest order.
Self-loathing is therapeutic.
I think it's funny when people throw hissy fits and "leave forever" in a huff only to return about a month later.
I think it's funny that people who strongly dislike the proprietor of this site spend so much of their free time here.
I think if one looked at how TomVH got his start in the recruiting biz he would find little difference between Tom's methods and Brandon Brown's.
If you think Ace is a better writer than Brian then I say that you are letting your grudge against Brian's "ethics" affect your judgment, Butterfield. (No offense, Ace.)
the last one (don't know who Ms. Savage is), but as admissions yours are the best in the thread.
I have the shirt but I don't actually think Ohio is the worst state ever.
Same here. It's really Florida.
I actually love double posts.
Oh, man. They're so vile and classless...
Go to a Nebraska home game, and you'll see how clueless your assertion is.
Michigan and Notre Dame both have better fight songs than OSU
My HS used ND's; we were Catholic and had pure gold football helmets. Pretty sure it was just spray paint or something though.
I miss and long for Nike.
Confession: I love the Michigan marching band but their uniforms are dull and they need to give the color guard something to do.
If I knew a big time recruit I'd tell him to check out some Pac-12 schools (UCLA, USC, Stanford, Cal) because the academics and weather are great.
I thought Rich Rod got a raw deal and if he ends up beating us in a bowl game I might be happy thinking about all of the fans that hated him, especially the ones who thought that stretching for too long scandal was a big deal.
I'll be content if we win 1/4 against Ohio in the near future.
I think our lack of success is because our players aren't that good.
The Rose Bowl always had that when Michigan played there. I always thought it would look cool.
Considering how good we were in 2006, does that mean you're 8 years old?
I didn't care a thing about Michigan till I was a freshman in 06. Ever since then it's been a lot of down hill and a lot of mediocrity. The glory days of the 90's were almost 20 years ago now and Michigan football has been pretty whatever since then
Well then I haven't experienced it as cyclical either. It's just gone from good to bad. You'd have to remember Michigan before Bo to experience a cycle.
I think people will be down on Nuss by game 9 yelling that the "simplified offensive scheme" is so simple talented defenses (read MSU) are crushing it and people on these boards will yell "it is too simple".
I was told that our 2012 class will be the nexus of a national championship and I wonder what that hype was about is now.
I am amazed MSU has taken a 2012 no star recruit, planted him at LT, and created an All Big 10 caliber trajectory player, and we have taken our 2012 5 star guard and made him look like a no star recruit.
I am bothered everyone is so focused on the shiny new thing...the new 4/5 star recruits and almost completely ignore the strength of a good program - the 3rd and 4th year players in the system, many of which were likewise 4/5 star recruits. Those are the guys which will point the direction of this team but so many stories are focused on shiny new things.
I hate that Coach Dantonio has done for MSU football what Beilein does for UM basketball - no matter what players show up, now the expectation is they will just reload, esp on defense. And they have done so. And we cant seem to with a much better HS starz level of player.
I miss having a defense that was bad ass. It's been ages.
I watched 74 year old Bill Synder make us look pathetic and thought "that was what an elite coach does...beats superior talent by a small amount and beats equal talent soundly. " Then I pined for a Bill Snyder even at 84 years old.
I hate that you youngsters make me feel old. When I was in second grade Bump Elliot was the Michigan coach.
Bump was the Coach when I was in the 7th grade !
Go Blue!
When Michigan won the MNC and had a Heisman Trophy winner. So yea, you're old.
You will be old too!
Kindergarten! I don't remember him. I became a Michigan fan in 2nd grade thanks to my homeroom teacher who was a big Michigan fan and would talk about the wolverines all through the Autumn of 1970! From then on I was hooked!
thereafter, not so much.
was with MSU's program not ours--making it more impressive.
