The winner of this game doesn't play the loser of our game until Wednesday
Yeah, sorry, that was bad grammar. Tonight refers to when our game is, not the next time one of these teams will play.
Arkansas solo HR, 1-0.
Time to tune your radio to SiriusXM 57, No Shoes Radio, because according to ESPN, bonding over Kenny Chesney music is the secret to Michigan's late season baseball success.
I can't name a Kenny Chesney song if I heard it. But whatever works for the lads.
You must be living your life in fast forward. Don’t blink when the sun goes down or you might find out how forever feels.
Wouldn't I want to live life in fast forward so that I can get through the blink (and experience as little as forever as possible) faster?
kennychesney, kennyhiggins, what's the dif?
Keith Stone, Keith Richards, Keith Jackson, what's the dif?
Has anyone ever seen them together? This is probably why people think Keith Jackson is "dead".
It's always nice to have a shot at beating an SEC team in any sport. Go Arkansas Barebacks!
We want all the teams not named Michigan to play in long, high-scoring games.
Arkansas gets a double and a triple to score a second run.
EDIT: Infield single scores another run. Tech's LF took a huge gamble on the triple that cost them a run.
Sac bunts down 3 in the third inning. Weird, TTU
Go Texas Tech!
Starting to rain in Omaha. Coming down pretty hard at the moment, but radar seems like it's going to clear up fast and hopefully shouldn't affect us.
Tech's big, big boy hits a no doubt 2 run homer, just after a misplayed ball that should have been a double play. 3-2 Arkansas.
For some reason I thought losers moved to the opposite bracket, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Was that ever how it worked?
Used to be in softball I know. They changed the format when they went to a best of three championship, I think? Now it's just two parallel four team double elimination tournaments with a best of three between the winners. Used to be 8 teams, double elimination.
I looked at the bracket and explanation yesterday and I was totally befuddled for a minute or two. It a neat way of not having single elimination without having to play each other 3-7 times each, but it takes a second to grok.
Yeah, you are thinking softball. Baseball keeps the 2 brackets separate until the final. In softball, the losers of the 1-0 games "cross over" to the opposite bracket.
Tech solo home run, tied at 3. Bottom 5.
ties are good....extra innings and lots of pitching changes....
Who do we ideally want to play out of these two?
I would think TT. Arkansas is the highest seed in this half of the bracket and Michigan didn't have that difficult of a time in game 1. Short answer: It's college baseball; who the hell knows.
Sparty doesn't.
Beat me to it
+1
I don't think it matters. Whichever teams pitching is more depleted would be the best bet. Both hit pretty well. They are pretty equal. We will have a clear advantage in rest, but both teams will be equally more talented "on paper" (as have most of our opponents leading up to this).
Third Tech home run, this time from their top ten pick. 4-3 Tech.
At the stretch, 4-3 Tech. They are the home team, so Arkansas has six outs left. Tech's starter has 9 Ks, just over 100 pitches.
Announcers confirm it's Henry tonight.
Goes to show that Michigan's guys are tough outs. Good at putting the ball in play and fouling off pitches when behind in the count.
runners on at 1st and 3rd with one out.... come on hogs.
Anyone know of a blog that covers college baseball (or Michigan baseball) that has a preview of today's games? Or is actively covering the CWS? Not really interested in football and basketball recruiting updates.
Sac fly ties the game at 4.
TT pitching change, both teams have used 3 pitchers so far. Keep it tied boys, burn up those bullpens.
Anyone with any insight on FSU? Starting pitcher? Bullpen? Lineup?
Would be nice to have some sort of preview on the front page, but crickets....
ESPN was saying the SP is a fireballer, 120 Ks in 97.2 IPs. ERA up near 4 though. Don't really know much else about them.
He's pretty good.... one of two pitchers in FSU's rotation with 120 K's this season.

Van Eyk (10-3, 3.80 earned-run average) will start on the mound at 7 p.m. Monday against Michigan (47-20) at the College World Series.
I posted this in another thread so I'll repeat it here. We're getting FSUs best pitcher, CJ Van Eyk. He was drafted in the 19th Rd out of highschool and he's mocked in the 1st Rd of next year's draft. They use their pitcher who was drafted this year in the 4th Rd as a closer who can go several innings.
I’m here in omaha and talking to FSU fans they said they threw their number 2 in game 1 and echoed the first round nature of this kid. Said he’s overpowering but will walk guys and has a tendency give up big innings. I’m assuming we’ve got Criswell going tonight, if that’s the case you may be watching two first rounders in next years draft go toe to toe.
Henry's starting tonight.
I heard rumors that was the case but never got confirmation. I wouldn’t be surprised either way, I just assumed based on the past 2 weeks
Their closer is their CF he rarely goes more than an inning...
You're correct. He went 2 innings in the first game of the super regional and that was really their only close game aside from Saturday so I figured he usually goes 2 if they need it.
he has a mid 90s fastball and a big 12-6 curveball; both are mlb pitches. let's just hope he can't get that curveball over the plate. i watched some video of him and he hung a lot of those curveballs.
first time through the order i would guess fastball. second time through (hopefully doesn't get that far), i would sit on that curveball and mash it.
Triple scores a run in the bottom of the eighth. 5-4 Texas Tech.
Arkansas bounced.
Superstition dictates this:
M score First!
M catch the ball!
M score Last!
M Wins!
GO BLUE!
