Chris Solari first hand account of the assault

Apologies if you have tunnel fatigue but I thought this was interesting as this is the first time that we have had an eyewitness say what they saw. It certainly does not sound very good for the MSU boys. Worth noting that it might be McBurrows who Harbaugh mentioned as possibly having a broken nose since Grose punched him in the face. Also not a great look that an MSU staffer was calling the refs a bunch of bitches.

I don't know how much this adds to the video--he's mostly just describing what we saw there. But I'm sure it was a terrifying place to be.

I think the biggest thing that it adds is an eye witness who knows they were ganging up and kicking and punching a player who was down on the floor. I have seen an infinite amount of posts that claim these players were just removing McBurrows from their locker room. Which was false anyway because the door he got thrown through was not their locker room, as they continued to walk down the hall afterwards. Some made it sound like McBurrows tried to charge into their locker room and those players just removed him. Nope, it was a gangland stomping.

Yeah, that's true. It's interesting that he doesn't mention any horrible thing that the Michigan players said or did. Not that that would matter at all, or would in any way justify what happened. But it's still interesting that he doesn't appear to have heard or seen anything, from where he was standing.

And an eyewitness from the MSU beat. Solari isn't a total bootlicker like Couch is, but he's not mincing words here and I appreciate that.

Separately: the Detroit News' Bob Wojnowski ran the headline "Call the Spartans' brutal attack what it is - cowardly."

My takeaway is that the media is (rightly) moving away from the "scuffle" language we saw earlier in the weekend.  They're calling it what it is with greater clarity, and that will hopefully put more pressure on the MSU administration and Big Ten to have some actual accountability.

The MSU slappies calling out Mars, Harbaugh, and everyone else insinuating they do not understand the law.   I really hope someone at MSU understands what’s coming …. Cause RCMB does not.

I gave you an upvote to offset some of the Negs.

I personally spend a fair amount of time on tRCMB (NEVER EVER post) as their delusion and obsession is usually funny to me and some of the Michigan centric OT stuff is interesting to an out-of-stater. ----

That said I am appalled at the overall level of hatred and idiocy over there since Saturday..... sort of like a Lion on a Safari... you know what it is capable of but don't truly appreciate it until you see it ripping apart a gazelle.

I'm going to need you to send me your PayPal account information. I'm going to send you some money so you can buy a dictionary and look up what the fuck hate speech actually is.

Nevermind it's not worth my time. Yeah this is hate speech. I hate the police I hate Michigan State and I absolutely hate stupid people.

Reading that I took an opposite opinion as the guy seems to make try and make things grey wherever he could right down to calling it a scuffle in the title.  It seems like he wants to blame the setting and the security more so than state and it’s “leadership”

Good lord is that article all wind-up and no pitch.  It's 800 words of "there was some kind of exciting thing happening behind me but I didn't see anything and when it did spill over my phone stopped working and also here are other links to better videos where it looks bad for MSU so sorta don't ask too many questions".  Oh also he threw in something about the two UM guys skipping into the tunnel because you gotta throw in the "did you see what they were wearing" comment to cue the partisans.

I get that "sports" and "journalism" are words that barely know of each other's existence at the Freep but between this, the Sabin article, and everything else the Detroit papers trying to both-sides this thing are just showing their asses.

I am beyond done with this issue because both sides are pretty entrenched in their positions, and much like some other things that have happened in US society semi-recently there's a lot of video evidence supporting one framing and a whole lotta alternative reality supporting the other and it's not worth arguing anymore.  I suspect there will be some lawsuits, some additional punishments, and a vocal minority of Spartan fans who are going to spend the next 12 months talking about Mike Morris "choking" Walker and some random guy touching Tucker's head (ignoring the fact that guy was immediately kicked out and banned from the stadium).

You are not.  I saw the replay for the first time yesterday.  I had to watch several times to see what they were talking about, because I expected something with the hands.  It was more of a chokehold, and Walker definitely did seem affected immediately afterwards.  I would have liked to have seen an opposite angle; was it intentional or accidental?  It started out as a tackle, and then there was another player in the way of the video for long enough that I couldn't see if he went out of his way to squeeze.

So, it was either (a) the vaunted Michigan Blue Wall that they talk about; (b) they're nationally irrelevant, and most of us were angry and/or despondent after that game; or (c) it wasn't really a story.

It was mentioned a bit last year; Seth tweeted about it and I remember thinking "that doesn't really look like an intentional choke but I can see how it could hurt a guy".  But absolutely it's become this huge issue with MSU fans a year later and any mention of far more egregious examples (such as Gholston on Denard) is simply living in the past.

That was a waste of digital ink. I read the whole thing expecting some amazing payoff but instead I wasted 90 seconds of my life.
