Charles Woodson new Michigan coach

I’ve been having a discussion with my Father who is visiting from out of state. Is Charles Woodson qualified to be a head coach? I feel like a college all American Heisman winner and 20 year pro, should have the resources and education to properly develop these boys. What are your thoughts and how realistic is it considering he has never coached.

No. Just no. He's not qualified at all. Not even remotely.

You wanna can Harbaugh? OK, I get it. But you don't replace him with a guy with ZERO coaching experience.. even if that guy was an All-American and NFL Hall of Famer.

I would rather just win regardless of the coach. I would love to see some emotion on the sideline (including the coach). Seems like when we get behind, we lower our heads and give up

Here as a head coach? No.  However,  I'm all in on getting him on this staff somehow.  He can be an analyst,  learn the day to day stuff,  bring an air of confidence,  swagger,  and killer instinct to this program. He could help change the culture.

I’d prefer that Woodson’s connection to Michigan remain as memorable as it is right now. If he becomes a coach, I’m (we’re) inevitably going to blame him for any team failures. No thanks.

Turns out the fans and everyone else should stop worrying about getting a Michigan man and just worry about getting a coach that can win games.  If you win, then you will be a Michigan man.  It wasn't like Bo was groomed to be at Michigan.  No retreads, no obsession with getting someone with a connection, just get someone who can win games.

Do we need another ex-player-turned coach at Michigan?! Come on, you have to be seriously kidding. WE do not need another former PRO turned Coach here... Unless it was Tom Brady. I would definitely give him a shot, but no one else.... All kidding aside, we need an "X's and O's" Coach. Someone that knows the game beyond just a former player would. Everyone here hates Urban because of what he represents, but lets be honest with ourselves. The guy is articulate and knows the game in and out. And as much as it pains me to say this, he is a great commentator because he knows the game. We need someone that is a student of the game and can draw the confidence of the team. I believe Harbaugh has lost the team's confidence. The word on the street was he overworked the guys the Sunday after the close win to Army because he was pissed and some key guys got hurt in practice. Dumb move. That doesn't help this team, it only causes guys to start questioning whether or not they made the right move coming to Michigan. I believe if Harbaugh loses to MSU and OSU, his time is done. And its back to the drawing board. We would have better luck with finding some up and coming guy like Ohio State did with Day than just continuing on this roller coaster of luck, hoping at one chance of beating OSU once every 10-15 years....

Probably would be a terrible idea to name him head coach considering his lack of experience.

BUT - it couldn't possibly hurt to find a way to bring guys like Woodson around the program consistently, maybe in some kind of mentor role. Not just a rah rah pregame speech, but a consistent role where they can be around daily to teach these kids whatever perseverance or heart lessons they clearly need.
