4 weeks to Tempe AZ!! 4 weeks to prepare for TCU QB Duggan. Get that pass rush ready, stop him form taking his team on his back. TCU has not faced a B1G top defense, unlike a Big-12 defense.
This will be a good matchup. It won't be easy but Michigan should be favored. 27 days to prepare, get healthy and bring the A game.
GO BLUE!!
December 4th, 2022 at 12:47 PM ^
Stadium is technically in Glendale, but Tempe is right there
December 4th, 2022 at 12:34 PM ^
Suck it sideways Saban.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:34 PM ^
Basically agree with everyone else. This is the best case scenario. UM is going to win this game by 2+ scores and then play in the frickin national championship game. What a time to be a UM fan
December 4th, 2022 at 12:34 PM ^
Michigan by 30. Georgia by 50. Let's go!!!
December 4th, 2022 at 12:35 PM ^
Has Rece Davis always been a prick?
December 4th, 2022 at 12:36 PM ^
You must be new here.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:40 PM ^
I honestly don't pay much attention to the talking head guys. I know Galloway and "Haircut" from Georgia suck though.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:37 PM ^
He's been one since he realized people knew who he was. Railroaded his way onto the gameday set.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:35 PM ^
Corrupt committee trying to diminish the extent of the pummeling we pulled on OSU and how they cracked under pressure.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:37 PM ^
Look at this way: Georgia's us but 5*s everywhere. That is a bad, bad matchup for Ohio State.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:49 PM ^
Precisely. If anyone can get pressure on Stroud while also getting g away with man to man coverage, it’s Georgia.
My only concern is that this new life for OSU gives JSN time to get healthy and that makes them a very different team
December 4th, 2022 at 1:11 PM ^
Same.
December 4th, 2022 at 2:11 PM ^
Eh, jsn might be back, but without a ton of in game reps between him and stroud this year their timing will be off. Not saying he won’t make an impact, but it won’t be as big as some fear it will. And heck, last year Michigan beat them with jsn, Wilson and olave all in the mix. I still don’t think another healthy really good skill player offsets their softness on the lines or by their scaredy cat qb that can’t go beyond his first read on most plays.
December 4th, 2022 at 5:48 PM ^
Also we don’t play a running back who only had one carry on the year going into The Game
December 4th, 2022 at 5:46 PM ^
Don’t forget LSU threw for 500 yds on that defense last night …
December 4th, 2022 at 12:35 PM ^
Warde Manuel sat in this committee. As Michigan fans, we have felt for years that the world resents us and conspires to screw us over. Maybe having a voice helped us to avoid that fate this year?!
December 4th, 2022 at 12:39 PM ^
You are putting way too much on Warde. The chair was just on and he was literally saying how good OSU looked in UM game.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:43 PM ^
I disagree, I am just pointing out that perhaps his presence helped prevent us from getting screwed as we have seen many times in the past. Georgia has to face much worse matchup against Ohio State then they would have against TCU. I love every second of that.
December 4th, 2022 at 1:26 PM ^
Yeah I was like but they lost by 3 scores, further evidence people just see what they want even when the truth develops before their eyes.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:37 PM ^
That NCST AD who is the chair tried to justify why OSU was better. They were only down 8 in the third quarter. He forgot to mention UM did not have their Heisman hopeful. What a joke.
I hope OSU get destroyed. It seems like everyone is underselling UM or ignoring them. UM needs to just destroy them and win the whole damn thing.
December 4th, 2022 at 1:30 PM ^
Yeah there was like 2-3 days where the national media were pro Michigan now it’s like they’ve twisted the narrative and almost like oHIO won or lost by a tight margin…it was 3 scores people. Beat a team by ground and pound and you didn’t score enough, beat them with explosive plays and it’s a fluke. Do it back to back years and its like they’d lose a 3 rd. Annoying for sure
December 4th, 2022 at 5:56 PM ^
He also forgot to mention we ran a running back that had one carry all year and without one of our studs at wide receiver
December 4th, 2022 at 12:38 PM ^
Boo and company did this process justice. Well done, and thanks for justly ‘rewarding’ osu with a game against Georgia in Atlanta!
December 4th, 2022 at 12:38 PM ^
The irony is the BCS would have worked perfectly this year getting the #1 vs. #2 teams.
But the committee did the right thing keeping Alabama out (you know that was killing them inside.). TCU at #3 was the right decision.
OSU back-dooring their way in after the ass kicking they took at home is annoying, pure and simple. But they would have had no case for #3.
I feel I can breathe easier now for a while.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:47 PM ^
I was having the same thought most of the day, yesterday. This is the year the BCS system would have been perfect. And I miss the gravity the big bowl games used to have. Everything has changed so much...
December 4th, 2022 at 12:39 PM ^
Initial lines UGA - 7, M - 9
December 4th, 2022 at 12:50 PM ^
I don’t feel bad or anything, but it does slightly suck for Georgia that they get the tougher matchup as the 1 seed
December 4th, 2022 at 12:57 PM ^
I don’t think they actually do. OSU is exactly how they played all season and Georgias gonna break a foot off in that ass and the fans are gonna go ape shit on Ryan Day. He’ll probably have to move out of Columbus.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:39 PM ^
Good. I didn’t trust the committee but this is correct. Let OSU earn their way to a rematch.
TCU is winnable but Duggan is a baller like AOC last night so it won’t be an easy game by any means.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:52 PM ^
True. They won’t stop him but I trust Minter to have a solid gameplan.
This also feels like a game where you go on multiple 8 minute TD drives to keep that guy off the field
December 4th, 2022 at 12:58 PM ^
Last night was a great example of how his philosophy works. Aiden had to throw absolute dimes to consistently move the ball. It felt awful to watch at times. But, when the field compressed it was much more difficult, and the defense was able to get a couple of pivotal turnovers as well. By the end the D got two interceptions and only allowed one TD. That’s just outstanding work against an inspired opponent.
The biggest fear with Duggan is his legs. Will be interesting to see how Minter handles that strategically. Duggan almost single-handedly led TCU to victor yesterday
December 4th, 2022 at 8:55 PM ^
That receiver they have reminds me of Keon Coleman only better . Those 50/50 balls got us against state. Need a plan to contain that guy.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:40 PM ^
Surprised they got it right. I was of full belief that USC should also be in had they not been dismantled and they were dismantled. They were punished for playing an extra game but humans are humans and nobody watching that could them say they deserved to be in. Hate them or not, the next team in is OSU.
I was just sure they'd jump them two spots instead of putting them 4. Crazy but I felt the argument Bama was making was for TCU's spot when it was the OSU spot all along.
I wonder how close that was if at all?
December 4th, 2022 at 12:54 PM ^
I had similar thoughts. It’s a big flaw in the system for sure, but you can’t just ignore the extra data point.
USC can “what if” all they want about Caleb being injured, but that atrocity of a defense alone justified leaving them out of the top 4. Ohio State’s defense was exposed by Michigan…but USC was exposed by damn near everyone, and when you tackle like THAT you deserve what you got. Maybe Lincoln Riley should figure out how to build a competent defense. I’ve never seen a coach waste so much Heisman-caliber talent.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:40 PM ^
Georgia definitely got the harder draw if we’re being honest. I just hope they fuck up the Bucks. I’m in the camp that doesn’t want a rematch.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:42 PM ^
It's funny I think if we play Georgia it's like a 40% chance of national championship vs. like 70% against OSU. But I would be so much more angry about a loss to Ohio State I want Georgia to win.
December 4th, 2022 at 1:18 PM ^
I respectfully don’t understand how anyone would think they got the harder draw. We beat them by 4 scores and Georgia is us with more talent. We laid the blueprint on how to beat them and Georgia is perfectly capable of executing it to a T. Meanwhile we gotta deal with some backyard, playground bombing the ball offense like Purdue but way better. OSU imo is damaged goods right now and Georgias gonna have a field day.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:41 PM ^
I love this bracket. IF we win then we get a chance to knock off the undisputed #1 team or football Armageddon 3 with a national title on the line
December 4th, 2022 at 12:41 PM ^
The committee got it right.
TCU is a resiliant team, and Duggan is a gamer who can run and throw deep dimes... After what O'Connell and Jones did Michigan's secondary is going to have to be prepared. Quenton Johnson is a tough matchup and Sonny Dikes has a bit of Brohm in him, where he does do some things that are tough to prepare for.
Not an easy matchup, but in a Final Four, all the teams are good and dangerous.
Best thing is having a month to get healthy and prep for the CFB
December 4th, 2022 at 12:41 PM ^
Perfect.
We get to beat TCU and watch and learn how Georgia attacks OSU.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:42 PM ^
Totally forgot Michigan was #2 last year.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:44 PM ^
TCU is about as easy as it gets for a playoff game and I’d rather play OSU again than UGA but either one is doable. I like our chances here boys.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:44 PM ^
"Ohio State's a very physical team." ~ Kirby Smart.
You've got a surprise coming when you check out that film, Kirbs.
December 4th, 2022 at 1:19 PM ^
You know dam well that’s not what he was thinking.
December 4th, 2022 at 2:00 PM ^
It's gratuitous affirmation..."You're good enough, you're tough enough, and doggone it, people like you". Pump them up with fake compliments and then beat the ever living snot out of them.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:44 PM ^
We love Harbaugh.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:45 PM ^
This will be the first ever meeting between Michigan and TCU. After this game, I believe the only other P5 programs remaining Michigan hasn’t ever played are Iowa State, Texas Tech, LSU, and Clemson.
December 4th, 2022 at 1:30 PM ^
LSU and Clemson would close out the purple quotient.
December 4th, 2022 at 12:47 PM ^
If you read any of the thread last night you'll know this was hardly "as expected" for a large portion of the Mgoblogosphere!
There were a few dozen sure "the committee" would elevate Bama over TCU cuz $EC.
Another contingent were positive they'd set up the M-osu rematch in the semis, either to guarantee the ratings bonanza or to give Uga the easiest possible path, depending on the posters various conspiracy of preference!
And then Rece Davis grilled the committee chair repeatedly about whether they considered that Bama would be favored over tcu or osu if they played, or whether they intentionally avoided the rematch. Rece of course loves both Bama & ratings, so he spoke for both contingents!
