As expected.

Michigan will play TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.

4 weeks to Tempe AZ!! 4 weeks to prepare for TCU QB Duggan. Get that pass rush ready, stop him form taking his team on his back. TCU has not faced a B1G top defense, unlike a Big-12 defense.

This will be a good matchup. It won't be easy but Michigan should be  favored. 27 days to prepare, get healthy and bring the A game.

Basically agree with everyone else. This is the best case scenario. UM is going to win this game by 2+ scores and then play in the frickin national championship game. What a time to be a UM fan

Eh, jsn might be back, but without a ton of in game reps between him and stroud this year their timing will be off. Not saying he won’t make an impact, but it won’t be as big as some fear it will. And heck, last year Michigan beat them with jsn, Wilson and olave all in the mix. I still don’t think another healthy really good skill player offsets their softness on the lines or by their scaredy cat qb that can’t go beyond his first read on most plays.

Warde Manuel sat in this committee. As Michigan fans, we have felt for years that the world resents us and conspires to screw us over. Maybe having a voice helped us to avoid that fate this year?!

That NCST AD who is the chair tried to justify why OSU was better. They were only down 8 in the third quarter. He forgot to mention UM did not have their Heisman hopeful. What a joke.

I hope OSU get destroyed. It seems like everyone is underselling UM or ignoring them. UM needs to just destroy them and win the whole damn thing.

Yeah there was like 2-3 days where the national media were pro Michigan now it’s like they’ve twisted the narrative and almost like oHIO won or lost by a tight margin…it was 3 scores people.  Beat a team by ground and pound and you didn’t score enough, beat them with explosive plays and it’s a fluke. Do it back to back years and its like they’d lose a 3 rd.  Annoying for sure

The irony is the BCS would have worked perfectly this year getting the #1 vs. #2 teams.

But the committee did the right thing keeping Alabama out (you know that was killing them inside.). TCU at #3 was the right decision.

OSU back-dooring their way in after the ass kicking they took at home is annoying, pure and simple.  But they would have had no case for #3.

I feel I can breathe easier now for a while.

Good. I didn’t trust the committee but this is correct. Let OSU earn their way to a rematch.

TCU is winnable but Duggan is a baller like AOC last night so it won’t be an easy game by any means.

Last night was a great example of how his philosophy works. Aiden had to throw absolute dimes to consistently move the ball. It felt awful to watch at times. But, when the field compressed it was much more difficult, and the defense was able to get a couple of pivotal turnovers as well. By the end the D got two interceptions and only allowed one TD. That’s just outstanding work against an inspired opponent.

The biggest fear with Duggan is his legs. Will be interesting to see how Minter handles that strategically. Duggan almost single-handedly led TCU to victor yesterday

Surprised they got it right. I was of full belief that USC should also be in had they not been dismantled and they were dismantled. They were punished for playing an extra game but humans are humans and nobody watching that could them say they deserved to be in. Hate them or not, the next team in is OSU.

I was just sure they'd jump them two spots instead of putting them 4. Crazy but I felt the argument Bama was making was for TCU's spot when it was the OSU spot all along.

I wonder how close that was if at all?

I had similar thoughts. It’s a big flaw in the system for sure, but you can’t just ignore the extra data point.

USC can “what if” all they want about Caleb being injured, but that atrocity of a defense alone justified leaving them out of the top 4. Ohio State’s defense was exposed by Michigan…but USC was exposed by damn near everyone, and when you tackle like THAT you deserve what you got. Maybe Lincoln Riley should figure out how to build a competent defense. I’ve never seen a coach waste so much Heisman-caliber talent.

I respectfully don’t understand how anyone would think they got the harder draw. We beat them by 4 scores and Georgia is us with more talent. We laid the blueprint on how to beat them and Georgia is perfectly capable of executing it to a T. Meanwhile we gotta deal with some backyard, playground bombing the ball offense like Purdue but way better. OSU imo is damaged goods right now and Georgias gonna have a field day.

The committee got it right.

TCU is a resiliant team, and Duggan is a gamer who can run and throw deep dimes... After what O'Connell and Jones did Michigan's secondary is going to have to be prepared. Quenton Johnson is a tough matchup and Sonny Dikes has a bit of Brohm in him, where he does do some things that are tough to prepare for.

Not an easy matchup, but in a Final Four, all the teams are good and dangerous.

Best thing is having a month to get healthy and prep for the CFB

TCU is about as easy as it gets for a playoff game and I’d rather play OSU again than UGA but either one is doable. I like our chances here boys.

This will be the first ever meeting between Michigan and TCU. After this game, I believe the only other P5 programs remaining Michigan hasn’t ever played are Iowa State, Texas Tech, LSU, and Clemson.

If you read any of the thread last night you'll know this was hardly "as expected" for a large portion of the Mgoblogosphere!

There were a few dozen sure "the committee" would elevate Bama over TCU cuz $EC.

Another contingent were positive they'd set up the M-osu rematch in the semis, either to guarantee the ratings bonanza or to give Uga the easiest possible path, depending on the posters various conspiracy of preference!

And then Rece Davis grilled the committee chair repeatedly about whether they considered that Bama would be favored over tcu or osu if they played, or whether they intentionally avoided the rematch. Rece of course loves both Bama & ratings, so he spoke for both contingents!
