it's a moot point since it's not happening, but payton has a similar college coaching record as bill o'brien prior to psu.

Doesn't mean anything one way or another. The likelyhood of him coming here is the same after this comment as it was before (still approximately 0.0% chance imho).

Not only have I never had an mlive account, I've never even been on an mlive message board.  I don't know what you're talking about.

Regardless, I never said there wasn't plenty to like about Sean Payton, because there is.  I was, briefly, excited about the possibility.  I then found out that he had an $8M+ salary and is (probably) the highest paid coach in all of football.  He's not leaving that gig.

you keep being a dick on here, I could care less if you drank a combination of sewer water and Popov.  So let's recap this really quick - I come on here asking a rhetorical question about Payton as to why one wouldn't want him here.  Your response is to assume I'm a teen and make a reference to relations with my Mom.   In addition to the fact that 3 days ago you were also excited about his potential hiring as am I.  That's Mlive/lowest common denominator material there.

Dude, my first post on here  wasn't in response to your question.  My comment about getting off of the Sean Payton bandwagon was in general and not directed to you.

I don't think you had even posted in here when I made that comment.

You replied to that comment and sounded a little butt-hurt, so I busted your chops a little.

Not that I ever thought he was a realistic choice, but this doesn't mean much.  Even if he was planning on leaving NO, he wouldn't say it now and in public.  His team still has a great shot at winning the division.

He's not coming to Michigan, but New Orleans is going to be a trainwreck next year, and he's just watching it slowly crash. It wouldn't absolutely shock me if he took another NFL job because he doesnt' want to be stuck in rebuild mode

Only two years ago, Payton signed a contract that pays him $8 million a year, and he’s believed to be the highest-paid coach in the sport of football. It seems awfully unlikely that he would walk away from that.

Granted, coaching is a different monster than my little world, but at the $8 million level....yeah, you'd have to make that move as an executive because I like what I do at that point.

It's not like NOLA suddenly became the Jets. They're definitely competitive with major positives in younger players. No way you take less than the contract you signed for a random college job, not even your alma mater. That'd be like Pat Riley quitting for the MSU job a few decades ago

I could see Miles to Michigan, Payton to LSU happening if things shake out a certain way.  Payton would be a great teacher for Michigan's young QBs though.

THATS WHAT SABAN SAID.

48 hours before doing exactly what he said he wouldn't do.

Ditto RR... he was asked about UM job in a presser, early after Carr left, and he laughed about it.  Three weeks later...

It might be silly now, but, by Xmas, who knows.  I'm not saying it's going to happen, or would happen; just that these laughing-off denials don't mean anything.
