Pretty sure this is based on Jerry Palm's algorithm, so not a poll or power ranking. Early yet, so expect to see some things which don't make much sense on the face. Not sure what his algorithm includes, but these generally include things like previous year rank, players returning, SoS (which is constantly changing), etc.

That's because without the SEC circle jerk in the rankings they can't have a team locked in. The system allows the SEC to get a lock every year. I honestly believe OSU and UM could take out ANY SEC school, most aside from Bama 75% or better of the times this year. I'd give Bama 50/50. I think the Big 10's top 5 (OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, MSU and Iowa) could take their top 5 (Alabama, Georgia, A&M, LSU and Florida).

not a chance.  Oklahoma was only a 12 point favorite against them after going to the Playoff last year and with a Heisman front runner (at the time) at QB.  I don't think Michigan would be favored by all that much if they were at all.  It may depend on where the game is played.  Maybe Michigan -4?

I'm actually OK with that. I always thought it was silly when a team lost on the road to a team ranked ahead of them and then they were dropped in the rankings. If you're #11 and you play #4 close, then your #11 was pretty accurate, right? Add in that a few teams ahead of them got knocked off and it makes sense that that team moves up one spot. The "they just lost to #4 so they can't be #11 anymore" makes no sense.
