Cade McNamara profile

Submitted by PeteM on September 3rd, 2021 at 2:11 PM

Almost every season begins with optimism, but looking at some of last season's (admittedly few and far between) highlights I'm excited to see what Cade can do as full-time starter. Coming back from a 17-0 deficit even against Rutgers is an accomplishment, and I thought he looked good in the short time before his injury against Penn State.

Any this profile includes an interview with his high school coach who started him at 14 years old along with some current teammates, and is worth a read.

Thanks for posting. Cade was a stud in HS, the only knock being he played in Nevada against poor competition. I think he’ll have a great year for us this season and restore our faith in Harbaugh.
Time for a #12 quarterback to be successful, right!?

NOT A PREDICTION:

It’s a very small sample size, but Cade’s RS FR numbers are better than Trace McSorley’s across the board. I’m positive McSorley is the better athlete, but Cade might be the better passer and he is slightly bigger. I’m not saying this is how it will workout, just pointing to a higher end possibility. Although, I think the offense must utilize the rpo more effectively.

The biggest benefit this team will have (defense especially) is the offense not going 3 and out 5 consecutive series.  I really, reallyl think this team surprises many this year and gets double digit wins, specifically because Cade will be like Ken Dorsey/Craig Krenzel.  Efficient and not turn the ball over or turnover on downs quickly.

It seems to me that Cade is probably really really good. We just have to see how good a game plan Gattis can come up with Anna how he's able to adjust. Previous results were not excellent. Hopefully things are better without the defense putting the team behind early every game.

I too think Michigan will shock some people this year. I think it's a little crazy that Penn State and Wisconsin are both ranked after mediocre to bad 2020 seasons and lower recruiting rankings and Michigan is completely slept on. Last year was an aberration. Let's do this!

Even throwing out last year, the three year prior, Michigan finished Unranked, 14th, and 18th.  The same three years, Penn State was 8th, 17th, and 9th.  Wisconsin was 7th, Unranked, and 11th.  Wisconsin lost twice to Ohio State in 2018 when they wound up Unranked; they do not play Ohio State in the regular season this year.

I have to admit, I just watched the every-snap highlights of McNamara from last year and it's got me feeling optimistic about the QB position for this year

Maybe that's a fools errand but hey, dreams gotta come true eventually right?

I mean we have to take it with a grain of salt as you would with any pre-season puff piece.  But the characteristics they are talking about--ridiculous competitive drive, great decision making and high-accuracy all bring to mind another Michigan QB who was overshadowed by a 5-star recruit waiting in the wings.

Just because we've been a little snakebitten at QB does not mean that a very highly touted and competent kid cannot come in and efficiently manage this team and the weekly game plan.

No doubt that the QB position projects to be a strength. I really liked what I saw against Rutgers. Bring that forward to this year, and we're good there.
