I'm going to go to the Freep website and keep refreshing to find out all the new and improved ways I should feel ashamed to be a Michigan fan.

Am I doing it right?

Making a huge mess in my yard gardening, and making an equally huge mess in the kitchen cooking. I'll get back to you on the whole "cleaning" bit later.

Watching the rugby World Cup final, getting some leftover yard work done. Try to keep the family in shape since my wife will be out of town for a couple of days leading a ladies retreat.

Birthday party for my youngest. He asked for BBQ, and since we’re having people over, it turns into a whole big thing.

So I’ll be smoking brisket & pork butt and making collards and corn fritters and kale slaw and pickles and yada yada yada yada all while we clean the house Friday night and Saturday.

Don’t most kids just want pizza? SMH.

I'm planning on going to the Clemson vs. NC State game in Raleigh.  The stadium is surrounded by a big parking lot (that it shares with the Carolina Hurricanes arena).  There's not really very much "day of the game" parking....and most people already have parking passes.  I'll be scouring the internets for parking passes this week.

By contrast, I was in A2 for the Indiana game last week and we found free parking on the street near Schembechler Hall.

I'll be flying from DTW to Denver for a family wedding on Saturday...when I first heard it would be a fall wedding, I was nervous, but then when the date was set and it turned out to be the bye week, I felt like one lucky son of a bitch!

Our trick or treating is day of, so not really sure. Very nice weather in Chicagoland this week (77° Tuesday!) But also raining all week, including Sat. Have to see what the wife dials up. Have some household tasks to catch up on, always the case with little ones lol.

Driving 14 hours to my 94-year-old mother-in-law's home early this week to cook meals and restock her freezer with four months of dinners.* Timing of the bye week is excellent for me, as I will be too busy to watch the game. Then driving back 14 hours on Sunday to continue taking care of my 90-year-old father as he slips gradually away both mentally and physically, and helping my mother maintain her sanity. I love watching the Michigan games with my mom, even though she is an MSU grad, as she appreciates good play and is much more knowledgeable about sports than she likes to admit.

*I'll have about four dozen meals prepped and frozen before I leave home. Get yourself a portable refrigerator/freezer for your vehicle, you will find more uses for it than you expect!

A trip to the dentist tomorrow.

A trip to Drummond midweek.*

And maybe a local high school playoff game Friday* and/or a small college game Saturday.*

Daily rides on the bike trail* (I set a goal of riding 3000 miles in 2023; as of this evening I'm at 2585 and hope to exceed my goal by the end of November)

*weather permitting

I left Sunday morning at 1am for Charleston, SC to go on a Halloween cruise with the family. Wife let me drink enough during Michigan game to be able to sleep first shift. I can't sleep in cars. Woke up at 6:30 and she continued to drive until noon. I only had to drive the last hour. Love that woman.

Our kids were surprised when their 5 year old cousin knocked on our hotel room door today. We kept it a secret.  Their aunt, uncle and cousin from Florida were also going on the cruise. My 12 year old son said this was the best surprise he's ever had. Every parent loves to hear things like that. Made my year!

I'm sure I'll be driving the majority of the way home!
