BWW Bowl is no more - long live the Cactus Bowl
I guess the fact that the BWW ACROSS THE STREET from Sun Devil Stadium chose to air some UFC event over the game was pretty much the final straw.

I hate the names of the games that have sponsors. Cactus Bowl, Citrus Bowl...those just sound better.
unsponsored games don't last long.
I'm looking at a list of Phoenix-area corps, trying to decide who should sponsor this. Taser International? The Make-a-Wish Foundation? Fender Guitars? U-Haul?
But I think I'm going to go with the ClubJenna Cactus Bowl. That's got real possibilities.
and it gives me some ideas. One of the obvious, yet ironic, sponsors would be the Preparation H Cactus Bowl.
Looking at the list, I wouldn't mind the Tilted Kilt Cactus Bowl or the Jobing.com Cactus Bowl if only to do a salute to the time not so long ago when bowls and the tech bubble were virtually one in the same. If we wanted to think out of the box perhaps, we could use one of the NLJ law firms as well - the Snell &Wilmer Cactus Bowl has an interesting ring to it.
has had the most names over the least number of years. This Bowl has had quite a few different names:
1989 - 1996: Copper Bowl
1997 - 2001: Insight.Com Bowl
2002 - 2011: Insight Bowl (the dotcom bubble burst!)
2012 - 2013: Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl
2014 - ?: Cactus Bowl
It's not the winner, however. The one-time Blockbuster Bowl game is definitely ahead of the Cactus Bowl:
1990 - 1993: Blockbuster Bowl
1994 - 1997: Carquest Bowl
1998: MicronPC Bowl
1999 - 2000: MicronPC.com Bowl (there's that dotcom bubble again!)
2001 - 2003: Tangerine Bowl
2004 - 2011: Champs Sports Bowl
2012 - ?: Russell Athletic Bowl
Ah, the days when Blockbuster and Hollywood Video were all the rage. And my college roommate had a Micron circa 1996?
who can ever forget the Poulan Weed-Eater Bowl, Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl, GoDaddy.com Bowl, or Little Caesars Pizza Bowl?
I always liked the Fight Hunger Bowl though.
...was Hoke's food poisoning in the run-up last year.
Not the ideal promotional incident for a restaurant.
Playing in the Cactus Bowl sounds painful.
the day they announce the Bowl matchups.
Tequila for everyone!
Damn. Now we will never be able to even up our record in the BWW bowl. Our shame will live for eternity in the record books.
Now I know how Brazil feels.
I approve this message.
If BWW boneless sweet BBQ wings don't motivate players to actually try and give a shit, I don't think a cactus will help.
along with some others will force them to give a shit, whether they try or not.
Copper Bowl was still better, but in the end I'm not complaining. Except....given the list of things the author of the article felt that Arizona evoked, the Retired People From The Midwest Bowl has a certain ring to it.
It should be the Crazy Retired People From The Midwest Bowl.
the Scott's Get off my Lawn Bowl?
As long as it continues to be held on a weekday night kicking off around 10:20 pm Eastern it should be fine...
I suggest the Whataburger Bowl. Three Phoenix locations, per google. A sly, and ironic nod to the late, great DFW, who presaged this era of corporate sponsorship run amok.
