Switching every ball screen has created a lot of mismatches that has favored Buffalo. Taking advantage of the weaker perimeter defenders that Michigan has out there.

So you first claimed that Michigan was just giving up wide open threes and was merely lucky Buffalo missed a bunch. I responded that Buffalo was in fact missing so many threes because Michigan was closing out hard on shooters and making the attempts a very high degree of difficulty. And I never claimed that Michigan contested every shot, I said that their defense was a reason why Buffalo missed so many threes. Buffalo’s players did miss open looks too, but they took plenty of heavily-contested and off-balance threes in the first half.

In the second half, Buffalo changed their plan of attack, they attempted fewer threes and started utilizing more ball screen actions to create mismatches on the perimeter where their players would be able to get into the lane with ease. Buffalo’s two main players, J. Williams and Segu, were able to use their athleticism against mismatches on the perimeter and score near the basket or in the mid-range.

It was a nice attempt at a “gotcha”, but your first point was not accurate about the state of the game and your response here is not honest about what Michigan’s defensive flaws were in the second half.

welp... the team looks out of sorts in the second half. As good as they looked in the first half, they have looked not so good in this half

Buffalo is really playing well and Michigan, well, isn't right now

Need to settle down...i'd keep feeding Hunter at this point if he is on point.

A lot of new parts in the old basketball machine this year. It'll take a couple of games to figure out what offensive sets, and what lineups are most productive. The talent is definitely there. They just need some time on the court together.

Fucking player goes up for a shot and a defender swoops underneath him.  In what world is that in the spirit of the sport.  So damn stupid.  Official had no clue where he was, making that call.

They have to find out who will be able to score from the perimeter. We're forcing the ball inside and it hasn't been effective in the 2nd half. Maybe William's will develop into our go-to perimeter scorer.

Free throws continue to be an issue for the program but they can improve there. Seems like we got a little sloppy when we built that big lead in the first half.

Up 21 gotta have a killer, closer instinct.  I think some of that is youth.  Some of that is playing one of the oldest teams in the country.  Buffalo looks like a round 1 upset special.

It’s been a rough 2nd half, but this team has managed to keep Buffalo at arm’s length. They’ve answered the bell in some high pressure moments tonight.

One game only, but TWill has taken Johns minutes this second half. His energy is hard to deny. With the pace this team seems to play at, TWill probably matches that better.

Definitely a first game of the year vibe from the team. You can see the potential but you can see the issues that everyone has talked about over the offseason.
