A-fricken-men. Preach brother.

I just walked the dog in 20 degrees with a sweatshirt on. I can do that and be a little uncomfortable, without it being a big deal. I can go cross country and be a little cold at the start and perfectly comfortable in 10 minutes.

I’ve unfortunately had to go down South a few times in the summer and it invariably sucked. High 90’s with 100% humidity. Having that during a workout in August would just be hell.

Then there are the bugs and the snakes...

I know people who love it down there; and I’m happy for them. But give me decent skiing in the winter, walks in the woods in fall and spring, and summers boating and beaching on any one of the plethora of lakes within 15 minutes of me.

I got out in '78 - moving to Texas and then Northern Florida.  The cold didn't get me so much, just the 22 years of gloom every January to March.  We only get one or two winter fronts a year that remind me of it - and, they don't last long.  The best months here are April and October.

I've been assuming there is a staff change coming that I can't figure out.  Unless Sherrone Moore is somehow a top tier OL coach even though he hasn't coached OL before.  Yes, he's coached TE that involves him in OL to a degree, yes he played OL, but OL coaching is complicated.  As important as OL has been to all of his offenses, I can't believe he will go into a year without someone who has coached OL before.  Recruiting is key, but you have to have a top notch OL coach.

I don't think he can lose any of the offensive coaches.  Craziest idea I've had so far is Jay Harbaugh takes a non-coaching gig for a year.  Now, I've got a crazy idea that Jay moves to defense as LB coach, and we hire a OL coach.

Who knows???

Tennessee apparently doesn't like UM taking some of their recruits.

I assume it's for more money; I do wonder what it means for Banks as DC, given the fact he's a recent hire and was never sole DC.  Anyway, wish the guy luck but since he's been shopping around a bit already this isn't a total shocker.

This probably is the most sensical reason why BJM would leave at this point in time. UT's response to Michigan successfully recruiting in their territory. Offered a pay-raise, and maybe some kind of official upgrade in title.

I'd be curious to know how instrumental BJM could be potentially in the Walter Nolen recruitment. From what I've read, it's mostly Bellamy and Lindquist that would have the most potential impact there, but could be UT trying to make a play on Nolen and shut down the Tennessee-to-Michigan pipeline.

Good thing that our DC was a linebacker coach for one of the perennially best linebacker units in the pros. I'm sure he will hire or promote someone good.

With the way the LBs played last year, perhaps this is for the best. Maybe we will stop having LBs transfer out at high rates (the highest positional rate, it seems?).

I think in an honest assessment, while 100% Michigan sounds good, the reality is I don't think up-and-coming coaches operate this way anymore. Most aspiring coaches are looking for the next best opportunity to advance their career.

I'll be honest, I don't think Mike McDonald or Mo Lindquist are at Michigan to wait and get their shot at the head coaching gig where they can then go on a 2 decade run leading the program. It was an pay increase opportunity, and an advancement in opportunity which - if they're successful - set's them up for the next step up in their coaching career.

Coaches these days are paid missionaries of sorts, they aren't pot committed to an organization or program like they were in past generations.

Frankly, in today's game I am okay with that. Seems to me the guys that "honor the shield" of their program or organization typically don't have much opportunity outside of that bubble. The ascending coaches are typically looking for the best situation to advance their career.

So we are looking for a linebacker coach who has coached in a 3-4 defense...

Well I happen to know of a guy who coached linebackers for the Baltimore Ravens under Rex Ryan.  Known for being a good recruiter and actually just left his previous job...

I’m trying to figure out why people are surprised by this. The switch to anything related to a 3-4 scheme is enough alone to make a change here make complete sense just given the night and day difference in how the linebackers are utilized.

Complete shot in the dark: Erick Anderson. Former Butkus Award winner and is an LB coach at Baldwin Wallace (DIII school in Ohio). He played under both Bo and Mo, and won at least a share of the conference title all 4 years he played.

Wow this is late in the game.  Sounds like he was.pushed out and it took awhile to find a spot... Or he wanted to go back south.

Wonder who MacDonald can get this late, maybe it'll be a Ravens staffer.
