Big Ten Network on Campus Today

The show is scheduled to air tonight at 10 p.m. Always look forward to seeing some snippets from practice, and the interviews always contain at least some interesting info.

Very valid points Bodo. But as Reggie Dunlop said, us overlooking state is a movie we've seen way too many times and hasn't ended on the winning side. Dantonio is no slouch as we know. I just don't think we should be looking at them as we do say Rutgers or Maryland (not you but at least the majority of the board)

I'm not interested in whether the fan base is overlooking MSU or not, why does that matter?  You said you thought MSU had a good chance at winning the East this year, because you thought their offense would be at least average.  I was genuinely curious as to why you thought that, and provided some analysis on why they would not.

"Don't overlook Dantonio" isn't analysis, it's emotional nonsense.  I don't see a reason from you as to why you think their offense improving from near last in the country to average.  So I'm guessing you don't have one.  Does that make sense?  You don't have any analysis that you've done that says they'll improve, but you're insisting they will.  That doesn't seem rational.  Improving from last to average is a huge leap.

I hope that doesn't sound insulting, but I'm trying to get you to see what you're doing.

Totally bro!  Dantonio ain't shit, hartbarger 6th year nfl punter meaningless, healthy lewerke ain't gonna matter, returning oline will be worse, all returning healthy wideouts will regress with no backups, defense loaded with juniors and seniors is smoke and mirrors, sophomore former QB-now-rb wont have adapted to position in year 2, returning junior kicker has the shakes, Josiah Scott secretly sucks, no RS/true freshmen will emerge, etc etc etc

It doesn't mean they are some force to be reckoned with, especially if you focus solely on talent disparity as they maybe have a handful of 4 stars on the entire roster (2 at TE I think) but did lose a lot of skill positions to injury for chunks of the season. I guess one could assume all the same guys will get hurt, or any number of assumptions that lead to "statistical outlier losses" (rationalization for getting housed 2x at home) - so let's do this the michigan way - get super cocky before any results on the field and pre-package some delusional excuse in the event of a "mathematical anomaly"-induced asterisk loss at home - GO BLUE!!

Who knows what kind of offense they're running?  Do you really think it will be much different?  If it is, there will be transition costs.  "So what, it can't get any worse".  Yes it can.

Which team are we talking about? Definitely not us. We're going to be awesome. No, definitely them. They're going to be terrible.

That's not a strawman. I direct quoted you. I used copy and paste.

And if it's my viewpoint, how is it imaginary?

You are most definitely interested in this dumb debate. You keep coming back and posting replies. If you did it all at once, that'd be one thing. It's incredible the amount of time it took you to come up with this gem and none of it makes sense. I was gone three hours. I come back and there you are, stoking every piece of this conversation.

Yeah, you're above it. Way to take the high road.

Are we done? Are you "not interested" enough in this shit slinging to walk away?

I'm all for overlooking little brother. Shit program based on luck, flukes, and paid off refs.  They have accomplished zero under dantonio and head to head and have a terrible roster filled with racists and rapists.

It's much more likely that msu goes 5-7 and we go undefeated than msu winning 9-10 games and us losing 2-3 games.

You've gotten negged hard for this post but I tend to agree with you. This is exactly where Sparty wants to be. This is where they thrive. When everyone writes them off, predicts that this is when the sun will finally set on Dantonio's regime, that they just got lucky and struck gold with some diamonds in the rough in recruiting, and especially when everyone starts predicting big things for Michigan. Its gasoline on fire for them.

They got written off after their 7-6 year in 2012, when their offense was an unmitigated disaster. The offense even looked really bad to start the 2013 season. What ended up happening? They ran roughshod through their schedule, beat the shit out of Michigan, beat OSU and snapped their 24-game winning streak, and won the Rose Bowl.

They got written off again after their disastrous 2016 season. What did they do the following season? Upset a top-10 Michigan team on the road (rankings are rankings, and we were still top-10 whether we deserved it or not), and completed a very good 10-3 season.

If their offense can find a way to just be average, move the chains and not make mistakes, they can beat anyone in America not named Clemson or Alabama. I have no hard evidence to suggest it will indeed be better, but it can very well happen because Dantonio has found several ways to do it before. He's proven he can rebound big when he's counted out, and he finds ways to make things happen when basic logic says they have no business happening.

They are very much a contender this season.

Yea, I really don't put a whole lot of emphasis in all of the preseason polls and projections. We'll be able to tell a lot more after the first three or four weeks of the season. I could be wrong, but Maryland could be a problem for a few of the projected B1G contenders. Not saying they'll contend but could really throw a monkey wrench into someone's season.

I think  the word you’re looking for is concerned not worried. Big difference in July or August. Worried and I’m listening to crappy sports podcasts in the middle of the night due to insomnia. Concerned and  I’m sleeping like a 17 year old whose thinking about what girl is homecoming worthy.

A team invites you to their campus and gives you access to their practice, it's coaches and their players, and you expect them to say "Brian you really played bad last year, will you play better this year?" Coach "D" your offense sucked last year, how can you assure us you will be better by just giving different coaches different responsibilities this year? Not sure what you think they should ask or do?

Cue the fluffy takes!  I will say Revsine has been tweeting out some short videos of drills...even if it doesn't mean anything I will be checking to see what he posts.  A video of Charbonnet or Sainristil will assuredly cause quite the stir here.

If you run into them, can you ask them to show some Michigan classic games other than MSU 2004, UTL 1, and the random Northwestern game with Dileo's slide.

That would be just fantastic.

I still have that game on my DVR for god sake.  Seriously though, why can't BTN get the rights to any classic football games that they have not been showing for the last 15 years.  I would even watch losses.  Yes, I know I can see anything on You Tube if I want to pull it up, but I don't get why they won't show other classic games.  Even if it is just games that have been on BTN, they have a lot to choose from.

The story-line for the B1G Network is clearly going to be Shea and the new offense.  Don't be surprised to hear the "H" word and Shea in the same sentence.  That will really ignite the conference and put that B1G target on UM's back even more prominently.  The other schools REALLY hate Michigan and the B1G Network is going all-in for max viewership ... hate is a stronger emotion than love, at least when it comes to football.

Let's strap it on and find out.  Go Blue !!!

Any chance Harbaugh actually lets them get some good film? My schedule has been to work till 6, workout and then set and drink beer watching BTN. The workout cancels the beer drinking so I’m good with it. Just kick the dam ball already!

ITT, people bitching about the BTN crew.

That's completely missing the point, which is that footage from practice will be available for the first and possibly last time for fall camp.

Don't forget looped clips of:

  • James Ross or Khaleke Hudson tackling a rolling tackling pad shaped like a giant donut

  • A shot of the RB's running through a gauntlet machine with rubber arms at 1/2 speed;

  • A shot of Shaun Nua holding a football on a stick to simulate snaps for the DL to practice their first steps.

  • A shot of Josh Gattis coaching the offense in an animated fashion.

  • A shot of Warriner overseeing the OL drills as they all move forward in a blocking drill using a machine with a low horizontal table forcing all the OL to maintain low pad levels.

So after this airs, is BTN going to do their usual schtick and show The Horror on Big 10 Classics?

LKLIII

August 13th, 2019 at 12:59 PM ^

So true.  The other day I was had the channel guide on & when I went by BTN it says "Maryland Classic" or some such thing.  Without looking, I assumed it was against us.  Sure enough....Maryland vs. Michigan, 2014.....

Hell, half the reason I want to finally beat OSU's ass this year is so that our "Michigan Classics" games against OSU don't all have grainy film and uniforms that are notably dated.
