I'll probably just take the year off watching any football. Not interested in watching the Lions lose and not interested in NFL football as much as I was in the past.

Welcome to Shitty Airlines. We know you had sensible choices to make addressing the pandemic to reach your college football destination and it looks like you made the wrong ones.

Posted this in the comments of the main board post, but... are college sports done until there's a vaccine? I guess I don't see what is going to change between now and whenever that is that would cause athletic departments, university presidents, etc. to feel comfortable with games being played.

I’m not seeing how spring football gets played either. Too many logistical and systemic issues are in the way, and short of a vaccine, I see very little reason to think it’ll be much safer by then. It’s just another thing to distract us and attempt to give us hope while we slowly accept and adjust to the reality of our situation. Kind of like how we all thought they were just delaying the college basketball tourney for two weeks to make sure it’d be safe.

So Iowa and Nebraska voted to play, and Big 12 plans to play. I see a plausible scenario where Nebraska and Iowa jump to the Big 12 for "just this year". Iowa wins the Big 12 and Nebraska comes in 2nd or 3rd. And then they stay permanently.

Which means the result of the decade of realignment is the Big Ten loses Iowa and gains Maryland and Rutgers. Tragic.

I live in the south and I can guarantee the SEC will play no matter what. The ACC seems to be falling in line with the SEC, much like the PAC was with the BIG. Of course thats what I have heard coming from the schools in the ACC that they have put on the news down here, so take it for what its worth.

I know Clemson would go the route of Nebraska and look elsewhere to play if the ACC cancelled.

With apologies to FauxMo, who had a derivative of this thought back in the spring:

Obviously, the only way to achieve a utopia in life is to completely eliminate death.  However, we must live joylessly until such time.

But won't it be great when that time comes, when we completely eliminate death?  We'll be able to live forever .... joylessly.

Some of us have Joy!

I Corinthians 15:53-55:

For this perishable body must put on imperishability, and this mortal body must put on immortality. But once this perishable body has put on imperishability, and this mortal body has put on immortality, then what is written will be fulfilled:

Death is swallowed up in victory.
Death, where is your sting?
Grave, where is your victory?

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

It’s the right decision because of the unknowns. We don’t know the long term effects or even have protocols to clear kids to play after they’ve had it.

If you want to have some fun go over to Eleven Warriors to see how upset the OSU fans are. These people have truly lost touch with reality. Some are saying OSU is “cursed” for football. Truly hilarious.
