Beveled Guilt - Sheer Enjoyment This Week

Submitted by The Reeve on

I can be more critical of mgoblog than most readers (I strongly objected to the Harbaugh post earlier this week, the board can get overwhelmed with snark, etc.), but I do not think there exists any football-related analysis better than Brian's preview-fest each year. Absolutely remarkable.

As a person who produces many work-related words, I admire his writing ability, humor, and staggering output. I am off to the beveled guilt button, recognizing that I would not have hesitated to plunk down $20 for this marathon preview if it were for sale at a newstand. Hell, I spent similar dollars at lunch yesterday, and all I got was gas and an uneasy feeling about the freshness of the fish.

Bravo, Brian (and staff)! In this, you are without peer.

how different is Brian's 54,000 word blog preview from his HTTV preview? Yes, I admit I've never purchased a HTTV. Kickstarters frighten me (I'm old.) I make up for it with purchases of t-shirts i never wear. I thought the "space, b*tches, space" t-shirt was cool, but when I got it I realized it wasn't the best thing to wear around my young son. He's probably old enough by now. If I can just remember where I put that t-shirt.

HTTV has more general stuff, some decent Xs and Os stuff, and a lot of good historical pieces. This week is more "feels" and obviously a lot more up to date as far as depth chart etc with the benefit of fall camp inside info. Love the HTTV as a pre-season appetizer.

HTTV is simply the best. It has a lot of technical stuff that is above my head most of the time but the player descriptions are great. The "Tales from old blue" section is very well written and if you love Bo (who doesent) it's great history and very entertaining.

You guys should setup a Venmo account.  A lot of people (myself included) no longer use Paypal, and use Venmo now for all mobile payments.  I always carry a decent balance in there and would be happy to occasionally toss you guys a couple $$ if the functionality is there.

Just did my (small) part. I had slacked on HTTV and not bothered; now, having read a massive, excellent season preview, I just bought the Kindle version. I'll read an article or two, but really I've already gotten more than my money's worth.

Even though I do the mod work gratis, I did donate some over the course of the summer because I like to think of myself as part "viewers like you", much like when I donate to PBS on occasion, although admittedly never at such a level that I get the cool bag or whatever.  Hopefully, in some small way it helps to keep the content going, and we're hopefully about to see some special stuff in what will hopefully be a special year.

of my paycheck.  Thank you to Brian, Ace, Seth and whoever else contributed in helping us all get through the offseason yet again.  You can get Michigan content lots of other places, but none of it measures up to what Brian and staff do here.  If someone said I should give any of the other Michigan blogs real, tangible money, I'd laugh them out of the room.  Here, I could never pay this site for the real value of their posts.
