Suggestion:
For these trolls, can there be a way to send an auto generated email each time they post a comment? I know their comments are hidden here, but they show on the app.
Maybe there can be a setting where users with a bunch of negative points get a reminder emain of why they are in Bolivia. Something not rude, of course, but a message about how they aren't cute or funny or clever and maybe they should focus their efforts elsewhere.

There is no real way to monitor the trolls on the app - I can't even delete anything in that environment actually. As for negative points, there are plenty of people who have been sent to Bolivia with negative points and no expiration date set on those points, meaning the adjustment is basically permanent until it isn't (i.e., intervention from a mod). Sometimes, in their moderation history, we leave nasty-grams - I've left some snarky ones in my time in this role.

I was thinking about something auto generated. A long time ago, I made a comment on a thread and that thread was deleted. I received an auto generated email that my comment was deleted. (Hasn't happened since and I've posted a few "IBD" comments).
Thanks for your reply.

I would hope so - we have at least 17 games remaining.
January 4th, 2017 at 11:41 PM ^
Not if we keep playing like we did the first 30 minutes tonight.
January 5th, 2017 at 12:01 AM ^
If they play like they did tonight for 40 minutes, are there 9 more wins coming? In their first two big ten games, outside of Rutgers they have probably played two of the weaker teams in the league and are lucky they aren't 0-2.

Is it possible to love Coach Beilein but hate his offense and defense? Asking for a friend...

I'm happy for Coach Beilein. I really am. I think he's done great things the last decade and is a great ambassador for the university. I just do not have a good feeling about this team or the direction of the program.

I'm too lazy to redo the math, but all three are over 60% winning percentage. Fisher was close to 70%.

how the records pair up—Orr & Beilein's records are pretty similar; Frieder and Fisher's records are very similar; and Amaker and Strack were pretty equal.
It's also odd that Orr and Beilein were also both coaches who took their teams to a championship game yet endured consistent criticism for much of their tenures.
January 4th, 2017 at 11:30 PM ^
Maybe because they both stuck around just a little too long. It is odd though, Orr followed up a NCG appearance and an Elite 8 with 3 subpar years and Beilein is well on his way to doing the same. History repeats itself I guess.

Beilein dragged us from PSU land.
I'm not sure how much of our team you've watched the past few years, but we have been trending in a downward direction since Stauskas left. Hopefully that direction will shift upward soon.
January 4th, 2017 at 11:36 PM ^
I like Beilein, but 20 wins a year doesn't mean what it used to. We're going to play at least 32 games this season, for example.
January 5th, 2017 at 12:09 AM ^
You're exactly right. Looking at Orr's record the team only played 30 games 3 times while he was at UM and two of those 3 seasons were exactly 30 games.
The fewest amount of games a Beilien coached UM team has played is 32 - and those are the years when UM didn't make a post season tourney.

But this was such a hollow win. You should be beating this team by 10-15 at home easy.
This program is so stale.

Some people call it a downer... others call it emotionally intelligent.
Oh, and fuck Penn State.

Whenever I hear the "replace Belein" chorus I wonder who we would get as a replacement. What do we want the identity of Michigan basketball to be? Would you trade Belein for John Calipari? Would we want a coach like Bill Self? I actually like the identity of Belein's Michigan teams, and I like the feel of the progam. And I would never want a coach that recruited dirty like you hear so much about in top tier D1 basketball.
January 4th, 2017 at 11:38 PM ^
Yes and yes. I want to enjoy watching Michigan basketball, which I don't anymore.
But Calipari is pretty extreme. There are viable candidates out there with no history of cheating that are capable of injecting new life into this program. At this point, that's what's needed the most.

Please God, no. When the time comes to make a coaching change, hopefully Michigan gets someone who doesn't play sludgefart basketball. Bennett isn't very good in the tournament anyway.

Wonder no more. Pretty simple really.
Replacement: Someone who loves recruiting. You don't have to be dirty to love the process. See JMFH
Identity: How about tough inside presence, rebounding, blocked shots, toughness like the football program (make the school identity consistent), athletic
Love Beilein. Great man and teacher. But not how I want our program identity to be. I want a team that can bang around the Big Ten like the rest of the good programs such as MSU, Indiana, Wisconsin, etc.
I am a die-hard M fan but if I was playing basketball and I had to choose one school in Michigan to be a part of a team and brotherhood, it wouldn't be in Ann Arbor because of the soft type of program it is.
And yeah I would take a guy like Bill Self. 11 or 12 consecutive conference championships would be okay by me.
January 5th, 2017 at 12:28 AM ^
January 5th, 2017 at 1:06 AM ^
Yes. I know. It was hypothetical. No one said Bill Self would come to Michigan.

Presumably by the same people who think Mel is automagically going to come back to Michigan if simply offered the job if Red ever retires.

Well, Beilein is going to give us close to 15 by the time he's done here. This is year #10 for him in Ann Arbor.
