the barwis effect

Submitted by turbo cool on
alright, i know we all sip the barwis kool-aid, some more than others. However, regardless of us playing poorly or playing well, has anyone else noticed how we are still running hard at the end of the game? i'd like to think that it's a direct result of eeeeee barwis. i love it.

Every game I look for it.  Every game it's there.

Case in point: Brandon Minor on espn.com:

Several Michigan players attributed the comeback to their superior conditioning.

"There was one play and I ran down the field for an incompletion, and the linebacker that was chasing me, he was out of breath," Wolverines running back Brandon Minor said. "I came back a couple more plays and then scored. I still wasn't tired till my team beat me up on the sideline."

I have to imagine it does.  Threet was outrunning number 25 on their defense, who I have to assume is faster than Threet, but his effort and running form really implied that he was exhausted.  That may have been worth 10 yards on that run.

I agree.  It's been noticeable in every game except the Notre Dame game (which arguably could have been there, but it was difficult to tell because of the weather).  It was obvious in the second half of the fourth quarter yesterday.

My biggest complaint has been how Michigan's defense has looked tootally gassed in the 2nd half in past seasons.  I figured Michigan would win 1 game this season due to being in much better condition than in the past.  This might have been it.
