B1G Championship Tickets Advice Request

Submitted by mabrsu on November 29th, 2022 at 8:02 AM

For those that went last year or have had success in Indy, what’s the best way to get them or any learnings?

Seems like Craigslist is filled with way more scams than the last time I went to a big game (2019).  Used to be an awesome way to avoid the fees for the buyer and the seller.

I’m looking for 2, so any help or folks willing to sell let me know.

Following......

singles are available on Ticketmaster for 50 to 75 bucks.... the better half isn't cool with being 12 rows away from me though.... and who could blame her?

EDIT.... yesterday there were 50 to 75 dollar single seats.... cheapest now is 170

I searched Craigslist.  Talked with the seller.  Absolutely in NO way should you purchase any tickets with other than PayPal or any other trusted after market entity.  When buying on Craigslist make sure you converse with the buyer by phone.  Never pay with Cashapp, ever.  Trust me I know.

I used StubHub yesterday.  Prices were going up all day so I pulled the trigger.  I definitely paid too much in fees, but I am also paying too much for my hotel.  My birthday is Saturday, so I plan to enjoy it.

Before I pulled the trigger, I was able to find where the Purdue ticket allotment will be.  Those are highlighted in yellow below.  You obviously want to be on the other side.

FWIW I too pulled the trigger yesterday and bought two tickets in section 444 (my wife's favorite number coincidentally enough) row 2 and paid $339 each before fees through SeatGeek.  There were four available and the two I didnt buy are now listed at $287 each so if one of you buy those two, your welcome.

Definitely wanted to be on the Michigan side of the stadium so mission accomplished.

A synopsis on what's out there in case anyone wants to read it: I've been tracking the four main reseller sites since Saturday: Stubhub, SeatGeek, VividSeats and Ticketsmarter (which is the official resale partner of the Big Ten).

We have 3 people, so it makes it a bit tougher as most tix are sold in groups of 2 or 4. But here's what I've seen:

  • The cheapest tickets (end zone 600 level) started about $225-$250 overnight Saturday into Sunday.
  • They dropped Sunday throughout the day, to the point that I pulled the trigger. Using VividSeats and a cyber Monday code (it was "cyber" in case it still works for anyone), we got 3 tickets in Sec. 635, Row 7, on the sideline, for $186 out the door with all fees (remember when you search to search w/ fees on; a $150 ticket will go for $180-$210 depending on the site).
  • Since then, tickets have stayed fairly flat; some singles are going for cheaper but for the most part they have ticked up, if anything. For example, as of 9:30 a.m. EST Tuesday, the cheapest pair at any of the main re-sellers is going for $185 each. But there are not many at that price point. Most are over $200.
  • The Ticketmaster tickets you're seeing are resale tickets; so those are all above face value. The resale option just opened yesterday, which is why you're seeing so many tickets flooding the Ticketmaster site. Remember, there will be fees there as well; a $170 ticket is actually about $200.
  • In general, it is smart to wait. But with needing an odd number of 3 tickets, I went against my own advice and locked in as I said. So far, it was a smart move. When tickets are going for $100 out the door on Friday/Saturday, I am sure I will feel different.

Good luck to everyone looking for tickets!

I got section 144. Gonna be a long day. Stuck working Friday so fingers crossed no issues with my flight in (I'm coming from CA). California to Denver to Indy. 530AM departure with 90 minute layover in Denver for 3PM arrival in Indy. I'm also supposed to go to the Lions game Sunday so that's gonna be a fun drive lol.

I bought in section 324 got 3 tickets for just over $300 a piece on Ticketiq. Way over paid for a hotel, but it says it’s an 11 minute walk to the stadium so I figured that was worth the extra cost. Going to be a pricey trip, but I didn’t go last year and figured this will be something I only need to witness once.

I went last year and like you, overpaid for everything but like you figured it's something you need to witness once, and only once.

Well here we are a year later and there was no way in hell I wasn't going to go again so I overpaid again.

All year I said under no circumstances would I go back. All game long I said there was no chance I was going...even when it looked like we might win. But as soon as JJ took a knee the die was cast - nothing will stop me from going to every game the rest of the season.

I said the same thing last year about only going once for the experience, but then found myself buying tickets again this year to cheer on the maize and blue once again. This year I bought great seats in Row 7, Section 143. Can't wait!!! Go Blue!

You might just find yourself addicted and make the trip for many years to come! lol!

I used TickPick - it was by far the lowest price for best value. Last year I paid $500 for 200 level seats. This year I paid $400 for 100 level seats at 10 yard line.

I live 45 minutes from Lucas Oil, so I’ve been patiently waiting hoping they drop Friday or Saturday morning and I’ll pick up a couple and make the trip north.
