The atmosphere at MSG sounds electric on TV - how is it in person?
It damn near sounded like a home game at MSG yesterday - well done to all those who attended. How is it in person? Any YouTube videos to share?
I was supposed to fly from DTW to LGA Friday morning, but my flight was cancelled. Delta offered to fly me out 1:45 later that day, but I would have had to go to Madison, then Minneapolis, finally arriving at LGA at midnight. I would have returned to DTW on Sunday morning, so it wouldnt have been worth it with all the delays. Naturally, the team progressed to the finals - while I'm super bummed to not be there, it's been awesome to watch on TV.
Go Blue!
...And hearing the "Go BLUE" take over.
Thanks for sharing your flights plans or lack thereof.
Great info here. I was curious about the alternative flights after that cancellation. Also, I was curious how that connection from Madison to Minneapolis would have gone. Just riveting to think about!
OP, I could not resist - but I do love the enthusiasm and passion!
Can’t imagine there will be any Purdue fans. They don’t tend to leave the state.
admittedly when they do it may be to build bridges and skyscrapers. Or because they've consumed everything in the house and grown as big as Haases and are going out to stand around on basketball courts.
and aerospace engineering is one of their better specialties, iirc.
What's the crowd on Amtrak like? Is it electric?
Hey, they serve booze on that train. Prep right: Get lit!
Honestly chanting "Victor" might even be dumber than chanting "Hitler" a) I'm sure Moe doesn't care because it's his name b) it's a compliment because of what Victor means and c) Michigan is known for calling themselves Victors.
While "Hitler" is classless and quite unoriginal, it at least has a chance of getting under his skin to yield the desired result. Both are stupid, so I could see either possibility but "Victor" might be too dumb even for them.
View the game on Youtube while Wagner is shooting free throws. MSU fans are clearly chanting Hitler. To me it is clear.
Sure Spartans will speak up in a classless way, but when we all knew Payne and Appling had raped a girl and was swept under a rug the Spartans were silent like at the end of the game yesterday.
He doens't go by it. Perhaps they think he doesn't like it? Anyways, that's the angle on 'Victor'
Username checks out, but you are mistaken.
Listen to the replay of the game and it is very clear what they are saying and it is NOT Victor.
it makes him work harder
... but subdued green. Very subdued.
Did see some Purdue fans, but have to think they'll be much fewer than Blue backers.
Also, the Big Ten / Michigan gear for sale is really thin, chintzy and disappointing.
But all around a great time.
I was at that Iowa game. WIth mgoblue.com selling the tickets for 9 bucks why pay 15 to StubHub. It was Valentine's Day and I did have to make sure going wasn't grounds for a divorce.
The crowd today should be great. It will draw M fans from throughout the Amtrak corridor.
I get off work at 6 and don't live in Ann Arbor. I can't get to Ann Arbor in time for a 6:30 pm weeknight game. Football plays only on Saturday when many more people don't have work and there's 7 home dates vs 16 this year for basketball.
...hear me Jim Delany?....against oh say, MSU for example?
And while I'm at it, we need to upgrade the nonconference sked too.
It was electric in person as well. I was actually surprised by the number of MSU fans, there were a ton (and a fair number of random other B1G fans too). Before the game and at the start of the game they definitely seemed louder than us, the Go Green Go White chants were very annoying. It was very satisfying to see the Michigan fans assert their dominance as the game progressed, just like the team.
There were LET'S GO BLUE chants echoing throughout MSG twice yesterday that were amongst the loudest I've ever heard at Michigan sporting event...at any venue. It was truly amazing!
