ASU’s DeaMonte Trayanum to OSU

Bit of a surprise.

Smart on him for his NFL aspirations, I suppose. He wasn't going to be an NFL RB.

He was going to be a short yardage back only at Michigan and personally, I think you throw the ball out there and tell Dunlap and Stokes, "may the best man win." That seems like a healthy competition for a very specific role that will make both guys better in the end.

Trayanum is good, I'm not minimizing that at all... I'm just saying the role wasn't going to be massive and thus the loss can't be massive.

Just like losing Charbonnet on this team. The kid is a solid back, but obviously we didn't really miss him as the drop off from him to Edwards was minimized by the handful of opportunities that were available most of the season. And now we're at a point where Edwards has experience, confidence, and a role that is likely more important than Charbonnet's would've been at this point in the season.

Anyway, the biggest "transfer portal" name we need to be worried about? Daxton Hill. Get him on the '22 team and we're primed for another run at the title. He's so important to this defense.

Upon Further Review, he meant it figuratively as someone who would be a top priority to try to retain as opposed to 1) someone leaving in the portal or 2) finding someone in the portal to replace him.

He got a little too clever for his own good and assumed his intent was clear when it was anything but. Unfortunately, just like I always tell my wife, we can't read your mind.

He's not transferring.

My quotes were to insinuate that he's the guy we need to recruit back to Michigan for '22 (that we realistically might be able to pull off, unlike Hutchinson, Haskins or Ojabo).

I was just trying to say, get Dax back and that is bigger than Trayanum or ANYONE out there in the portal. I'll take Dax over every single alternative that may be looking for a new team next year.

And I'll take 1 year of him over any recruit signing in February. I think he's that important.

No one understood you because saying someone may be entering the transfer portal has never and will never mean that person may be transferring to the NFL.

”Yeah, it’s everyone on the internet that is wrong. I’m the correct one. You all should just say you didn’t understand me instead of me admitting I was confusing/incorrect.”

I didn't say anyone was incorrect. I said that someone understood...how hard is that to comprehend?

No one was wrong, but its not about right or wrong, it was a misinterpretation...which is okay. You and your friends are whining about it like I'm over here saying you're incorrect and I've never said that. Thats what I mean by you're in your feelings. You're too emotional to just chill and realize, "okay, I don't agree but it's really not that serious."

It's Christmas, broham, and you're sitting here trying to tell me that I'm trying to tell the internet that it's wrong, thats weird. ?

Admit what? This isn't "prove who's right or wrong."

Why are yall so butthurt about it?

From my point of view it's YOU all that get off by trying to be right all the time. It's. Not. That. Serious.

I promise you there are more important things than trying to win an argument over the interest with someone who is not fighting with you.

Lol no he's not.

But yes, it makes sense that it would be Dunlap who is heavier, older, likely stronger, and has a year in the system.

Stokes runs it hard though, the kid seems to love contact. I see why Hart loves him, he plays with a chip and shows solid balance and vision (for a HS RB). I believe this site compared him favorably to Karan Higdon, who's someone who, IMO, ran with toughness, vision and balance - even though he wasn't a bruiser.

Haskins is certainly more of a brusier, but I'd argue that toughness, vision, and balance are all his strongest characteristics as well. I'm a Stokes fan, I think he could be special by year 3.

No. It doesn't because I never said it wasn't significant. You're making shit up, lol.

I said it wasn't 50 lbs. I didn't said the guy didn't weigh more or even weigh significantly more.

I knew he weighed more, that has nothing to do with my comment about Stokes being the 3rd back/short yardage guy.

...not unless you think the winner must be the guy who weighs more. Is that what you're saying? Because I don't think it is.

Edit: and to be clear...since have this thread has comprehension issues. I'm NOT saying Stokes will be the 3rd back/short yardage guy...I'm saying exactly what I said, which is, I think it'll be a very healthy competition to roll the ball out and tell Dunlap and Stokes, "may the best may win."  If I had to put money on it, I'm going take the RS Freshman, built like Haskins over the true Freshman, built like Higdon.  But you've got to earn it, give them a shot and see who wins...bet they're both better because of it.

He's never played LB in college. Kid is going from averaging 5.2 YPC and having the chance to start at most schools at RB to going to OSU where he may not get any playing time at LB and has no guarantee of success, while also having Henderson in front of him at RB if that doesn't work out. Doesn't make sense

Just because it doesn't make sense to you (who almost certainly has incomplete information), doesn't mean it "doesn't make sense." And the kid being from Akron suggests there's a decent chance he would prefer to play for OSU (or simply closer to home) and that could trump certain other aspects of the decision. Or, maybe he just thinks he has more of a future at LB and felt he was out of position where he was and OSU is giving him the chance to play the position he prefers.

Point is, there are a lot of plausible explanations that make this decision "make sense."

Only if you decide “football decision” is the only decision he’s making here. It could be that, being from Akron, he grew up rooting for OSU. And realizing he doesn’t have much in terms of NFL prospects, wants to go play for the school he grew up rooting for and get a quality degree out of it.

It makes a lot more sense when you broaden the spectrum to what other people might value instead of thinking people only transfer for playing time.

I was hoping for a new thunder to add to our RB stable, but agree that he was not likely to get a lot of reps.  That said, really difficult for even the most stellar athlete to simply switch positions over one year of eligibility. OSU must really have been traumatized by The Game.

If we get the center from Virginia, count me satisfied with our portal outcomes this year. We all witnessed what happens when you play a season with solid offensive line play. The middle of our o-line next year could be something special.
