This will be your thread for hot takes and snowflakes regarding the overall coaching performance against Army.

Very, very concerned that Gattis may have tactical chops, but it poor at the teaching of fundamentals. This has been a sloppy, sloppy team through two weeks.

“Transition costs,” blah blah blah. Michigan’s running game isn’t a transition at all. These are the same line calls they ran last year, with largely the same players, and there was no push.

This reminds me of the late Hoke era.

Now, there’s a bye week, and maybe it’s as simple as Shea being hurt and not wanting to change things up too much. But the Wisconsin game is huge, and daunting.

Gattis is 100% leaving after this season.

Jim already took the keys away from him.

Jim just needs to go the fuck away already. His way of coaching football and HIS offense is utter dog shit.

Go the fuck back to San Diego State Jim - you’re garbage

If Harbaugh is the answer....dumbest question EVER!!!!!!

Team looks not interested, confused/lost, undisciplined, sloppy, etc...

Expectations tempered...waaay tempered.

Agreed. It’s pretty damn clear he has lost the locker room.

Its only going to get worse as the losses pile up this year.

Imagine what WI, PSU, MSU, and OSU are going to do to this team?

Dude, you have no idea that is the case... shooting out of your ass.

Anyway, they are a shaky 2-0... i can imagine worse things.  Let's watch a few more games before we act like we know what's happening in the locker room.

In defense of Vinny there is a pattern developing with Harbaugh. As UM fans it was quickly pointed out with Urbz, as homers most are not willing to admit it. I agree with Vinny on this issue. Can't validate it, but something is amiss IMHO. We shall see in the very near future.

It’s going on the 5th year and Harbaugh is what he is

An overrated, average-at-best coach who believes he is the smartest, best coach in the country.

He took back the keys from Gattis 5 quarters into the season.

Don Brown is so overrated it hurts.

Its been a LONG time since ‘97 and Harbaugh is 100% incapable of winning anything here.

When he loses to PSU, WI, MSU, and OSU this year, will those you that still seem to blindly follow him and downvote those of us that are sick of his shit and sick of the loses to anyone with a pulse, finally see what we see? A wholly unprepared coach who is completely in over his head.

He caught lightning in a bottle with Kaep and got lucky to have Luck. Every other season, Harbs has been dog shit.

Fire Harbs now and go get Urban before USC does.

The last quarter or so makes me concerned that Harbaugh took the car keys away from Gattis. We went so conservative and those last couple of drives were Michigan playing not to lose.

Vinny The Microwave

September 7th, 2019 at 3:59 PM ^

He 100% did. Because Harbaugh believes he is the smartest coach in the country and he can outsmart everyone.

Imagine how stupid you have to be to believe you are smart when those are the results your decisions are producing.

5 years in and it’s the same shit wrong, year after year after year.

the o line can’t block. Your offense is so predictable ARMY figured it out. The special teams is still dog shit and making mental mistakes constantly.

Please recall that we started a redshirt freshman at left tackle.  Hayes will be ok but he got beat on several occasions and appeared to struggle.  Things should be better when Runyon returns.  Also, weren’t we without Josh Ross for much of the game?

It’s 5 years into now. I am done with all the excuses being made for Jim.

every single team has injuries and redshirt freshman playing positions.

The issue is that Jim is dog shit at player development, play calling, game management, picking the next coaches to fill out his staff, motivating the players, etc.

The only thing Jim is good at is getting all expenses paid trips to foreign countries every offseason, losing to rivals, losing bowl games, and embarrassing himself on the national stage seemingly weekly and pulling these poor kids down with him.

No one wants to come play for a joke like Jim. No one wants to come play in such a shitty offense. Or on a shitty defense.

It’s clear next year is going to be AWFUL! I mean, they have 3 NFL WRs on the team this year and they don’t throw them the ball. Imagine what the offense will look like next year without them? And when 4/5s of this dog shit line are gone? The guys behind them are even worse if they can’t beat this collective group of shut out.

And the defense!? My god - when both NFL caliber DBs are gone!?

The team is going 6-6 this year - Mark it down and save it.

Next year......is going to be a blood bath!

Fire Jim tonight and go beg Urban to save this sinking ship

Gattis spent all offseason tweeting "#SpeedInSpace" literally every day

Where are those tweets now? No where because so far he sold us a lie. I know Shea has missed some throws but even then the playcalling looks like it did last year. We run the ball for short yards and miss deep throws. Where is the getting the ball to our athletic WRs and letting them do their thing?

Gattis was overhyped. Locksley was the guy behind the Bama offense as we can see from Marylands insane offense so far vs Michigans horrible offense

The playcalling vs MTSU and Army has looked the same. The only difference is Shea hit some deep throws vs MTSU

Harbaugh didn't have his playcall sheet on the sideline during our 2nd half drives. I don't think he is calling plays but I think he has complete control over the offensive gameplan and making Gattis work with that

Idiotic playcalling and questionable decision to even play Patterson considering he was injured enough to be limited to almost no runs. Army couldn't handle your athletes at WR but yet you bail them out by running dives with non existent reads. Clearly Harbaugh is still meddling in the offense.

Why play the fourth-string running back? Why not kick the field goal? Why run up the middle 1,000,000 times in blank-and-short situations? So many coaching miscues. And I put the miscues of the team on them 100%. They’re so undisciplined.

If the #speed in space thing is gonna work, they need to unleash it and live with the growing pains. Today felt lizard brained like they don’t trust it yet. If Shea is too banged up to be a running threat, then McCaffrey needs to play more. Army crashed time and time again and the ball was handed off and stuffed. The quicker pass plays worked a bit, but the constant blitzing from army was rarely punished. Felt like they didn’t want to get too risky and turn the ball over. But they turned it over anyway so why not at least be in a play call that has a chance for a big play.

MichiganStan

September 7th, 2019 at 4:03 PM ^

Definitely this

Are they installing a new offense or are they scared to install a new offense? It seems to be the latter. Shea hasn't been able to get it done so Dcaf should be given a legitimate shot. By legitimate shot I mean multiple series AND actually have him throw the damn ball. Putting Dcaf out there for one down doesn't do anything except throw Shea off even more

why did we go on 4/2 when we could have kicked a manageable field goal with less than 5 min left in the game. We would have been up by 3 and Army took like 9 min to score and we would have either won the game or forced their kicker to tie. Not a smart play

I will admit that I keep hearing that statement about how they spent quite some time preparing for Army, and then I see it and I wonder if it one of those situations where you over-prepare to the point of overthinking, or if that is - quite alarmingly - what it actually looks like. Granted, they aren't going to see another service academy this season (aren't we happy about that?), but either way, a few metric tons of things to clean up before Big Ten play.

Bad play-calling, bad use of the clock, no speed in space, haven't taught people how to hang onto the football, played right into Army's game.  Army's game was to run, run, run the football and utilize the clock to their advantage, and Michigan played right into it by also utilizing the clock but not in a good way.  Michigan should have went down the field, passing, passing, passing, going deep and Forced Army out of their game.  The more time goes on, the more Harbaugh becomes a disappointment.

No. Coaching staff deserves to get their asses kicked. They had better be very careful with what they say in the press conferences because they fucking sucked and are coaching for their jobs for the rest of the season.
