Are you ready for some Denard?

Submitted by rob f on

A big heads-up to the MGoBoard on this, as in just about 10 minutes or so, the Jags take the field vs. Da Bears in NFL pre-season football.  While I have no idea how much we'll see Denard Robinson and Chad Henne tonight in this exhibition tilt, it should be fun to watch those shoelaces flopping down the turf as Denard shows his stuff.

Last I checked, too, Chad has the nod at present as starting QB for Jacksonville ahead of the rookie Blake Bortles.  I'd love to see both Denard and Chad have big games tonight to solidify their respective positions on a Jag team that really isn't picked to be anything better than mediocre this coming season.

I was just about to post something like this.

The only thing that about NFL exhibition games that draws my interest is Denard.

I long to see Dilithium unleashed on the NFL.

Chad's looked pretty good so far. A few plays where he's had to make really quick decisions (and made the right one) and threw a dart into a triangle of Bears defenders for a completion. My Bears will win though!

It looks like Denard might be on the bubble. It looks like Gerhart & Todman have the RB position tied up. For whatever reason I don't think Denard is doing much on Special Teams (could be wrong?). It's tough to make an NFL team as a #3 RB who doesn't play ST. It looks like they have pretty good WR depth too if it comes down to choosing between an extra RB or an extra WR.

Feels like Denard will probably have to find a good situation on another team, as Jacksonville doesn't seem to be working for him.  Guy can run, and I'm surprised they don't have him on special teams at least.

Of course, Jacksonville's whole team seems a bit lost out there, so the fact that it isn't working out for Robinson may not be much of a deal.

I fully expect Denard to make the team, but if he were to end up on a team with an actual NFL offensive line I think he would have much more of an impact.

13-0 Jags.  Even more importantly, though, he's getting some love from The Man-who-is-always-the-first-to-be-mentioned-anytime-and-at-any-level-whenever-there-is-a-head-coaching-position-to-be-filled.

Henne is playing pretty damn good tonight.  He's doing his best to keep Bortles on the bench for the season.  Wish Denard would get some 1st team reps in spread formations.

I don't think the Jags give up on him yet.

I think he is a nice change of pace back from Toby G.  If he gets enough touches you have to game plan for him.
