If you haven't lived there or visited LA you really don't get what a long haul it is to go to a game as a student.

I went to the Rose Bowl for the 1997 team and had to catch a flight out after the game. It was not easy.

People dog the undergraduates here for filtering late and only filling up the student section by the end of the 1st quarter and most live within walking distance. It is seriously an all day effort to get to the game and afterwards.

Agree that UCLA should be 1-3 right now.  At 2-2 Bruins still have to look forward to contests vs. Oregon, at Washington, at Utah and at USC, who are far better teams. Would not be surprised to see them drop all four. Games at Arizona and vs. Arizona State won't be slam dunks either.

UCLA's defense is atrocious, and in a league like the PAC-12 that's pretty much asking for a regular beating.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised with UCLA being 6-6 or 7-5 and bowl eligible.

As for hotseat, Mora can still surf his early career success at UCLA for this season and probably one more. People on this blog understimate the level of  apathay and indifference in LA about college sports.  Earlier comment is correct in that you often have to remind UCLA fans that they have a football team.

in a weird, strange way going through the rich rod and hoke/branden years was probably good for the long term success of the program. it forced  people to take a long look at how hard it can be to maintain success, even at a place like michigan, when you have incompetent people running the program.

a great athletic director, a total commitment to success, and then the brass balls to go out and do what is right, is paying off now. luck doesn`t keep your program strong, it doesn`t just "happen". all major programs have went through something similar. one bad hire can set even the best programs back for years.

to the RR theory of hoping you can outscore teams 50-49 as defense is an after thought. They have a great offense and if they fielded and average defense they would be a good team.

Seeing how we have 2 QB's now committed in 2018 I doubt we go after Dorian.

With Milton and Doyle in the fold, I doubt the coaches are still interested in DTR. Taking three QBs in one class, two of them high-rated prospects, would be highly unusual.

I think its always good to keep the lines of communication open. I have been hearing rumblings about J.M. de-committing or looking around. I hope not. As much as I like the kid, if he can flirt with other programs, we can flirt with DTR and the kid committed to UNC. Nothing is final until someone signs on the dotted line. How did DTR do at the OPEN finals and how has his senior season been going anyway?
