Anyone have early thoughts about Michigan-OSU?

Submitted by Braylon1 on November 12th, 2023 at 7:20 PM

I can't help myself. The Game is on my mind at the moment. 🤷🏾‍♂️

As of right now, I'm a little concerned about Michigan's situation at OT. OSUs defense has improved and the threat of Egbuka, Harrison, and Henderson is significant.

What are your thoughts?

I'm not as worried about the tackles for Ohio state. Playing at home will mean we don't have to do silent count (which Penn state got good at timing) and OSU doesn't have the pure speed rusher that Penn state does. Barnhart struggled against speed but is much better against bull rushers

PSU DLine > OSU DLine

2023 OSU < OSU 21 and 22 versions

I also have watched a lot of OSU games and it feels like they get run on with success but no one sticks with it. We will crush them.

I'm hopeful Michigan will have something in tow that they haven't had the past two years.  It's still too early to tell though.

Also, Marvin Harrison Jr. is really good at the game of football.

Seriously though, my concern is a lot of Stover and Gee Scott. Marv will make a play or two but the TE’s will need to be an emphasis. Also, need to utilize Semaj in this game.

Not concerned.  Call it over confidence o r whatever… this Ohio team is less talented and less scary than last year’s squad.   Not to mention playing at home vs Columbus is night and day.  Although, our boys might disagree, they were born to bust nuts on the road or at home.

We will beat them down make no mistake about this … first time I’ve ever felt comfortable going into THE GAME … even in 1997 I was apprehensive… this team is focused and Minter will not let MH loose all game … McCord is a far cry from Haskins , Stroud, Fields … this team will not be cocky they will be angry, focused and out for B1G BLOOD !!!

I want Michigan to be up 77-10 and Harbaugh (or Moore etc) to kick a last second field goal to get to 80.

When asked after the game why he ran up the score I want Harbaugh to answer "Bet".

Michigan will rope a dope OSU yet again and then land some serious blows in the 4th quarter. Ryan Day will realize he can't fuck with Michigan and think he can get away with it.

Wish we play them tomorrow?

Seriously, I look forward to the post game interactions between Harbaugh/Moore and Day after we poop on him 3 straight years, while simultaneously breaking the news of his involvement in the PI fiasco that leads to his /OSU's public humiliation.  But...

The real mic drop would be winning the BIG Championship and Petitti handing the trophy along with his resignation letter to Harbaugh.  BOOM...

One can hope?

You certainly never know, but OSU's going to be facing some very angry and determined players and fans. We were able to keep so many wrinkles in the trick bag Saturday, will need few of them next Saturday. . . We're going to be favored by ten points. And barring quite a lot of bad luck, beat them by more.

It will be stressful as fuck and little better than a coin flip. I was very disheartened by our inability to pass block and by how well PSU ran the ball. I'm less confident Harbaugh will get to coach it than I was last Friday.

I think we're the better team this year, but they have all of the pieces to beat us.  Honda McCord has been their weak spot, but he supposedly had a great game against MSU. (I know. I know.)  If he takes a step forward he has the receivers to do some major damage.  ...but our defense is elite this year.  Our edge rushers haven't been dominant, but our D-line as a whole is pretty great.

On defense I'm worried about JTT and Jack Sawyer against our tackles.  Barnhart did well against JTT last year (I think.)  Tommy two thumbs has played well in the games I've seen.

Beat Maryland.

I'm worried about their edges too. Especially since it felt like we crafted a conservative game plan against PSU and their edges.

I don't think we can beat OSU the way we did in 2021, we need a balanced offense this year. Hopefully we have Harbaugh back or they take something off Sherrone's plate - HC/OC and OL coach is far too much for one person to handle, especially in as big a game as OSU.

Brian’s point about the OSU-PSU game was that OSU would win because they are similar teams, but OSU has Marvin Harrison, Jr.
Before our game with PSU, I thought something similar, except JJ would be the best player on the field. Turns out, we really didn’t need JJ’s arm all that much.

Besides JJ, we have Corum, Zinter, Graham and Will Johnson. And a whole bunch of other difference makers. Penn State shut out Roman Wilson and it didn’t matter.

So my thinking is, WillJ can neutralize Marvin, and then we win everywhere else (obviously that’s hyperbole).

We were 9 better than PSU at PSU. Adjust for home field and we’re 12 points better on a neutral field. OSU was 8 points better (should’ve been 1 but for a bogus holding call) at OSU. OSU is 5 better than PSU on a neutral field. That gives us a 7 point edge on a neutral field. The game is in the big house. Michigan +3 puts the advantage at 10 points. I’ll give that a margin of error of +/- 9 points.

I have a feeling Michigan is going to try to run the ball down OSU's throat to prove a point that the signs don't mean a damn thing.  They can know what we are going to do, just like the second half 2 years ago, but will be helpless to stop it!

It will be Harbaugh's way of showing up the NCAA and B1G.
