AnnArbor.com's New Michigan Football Feature

On Further Review. Sounds familiar to me, but I'm not sure from where. But seriously, "on further review"? Grammar nazis, does that even make sense?

Claymore (commenter on AA.com) Interesting, sure looks an awful lot like these though: http://mgoblog.com/category/post-type/upon-further-review http://mgoblog.com/content/upon-further-review-offense-vs-northwestern-1 Mr. Cook has been doing them for years though. Coincidence perhaps. His Response Claymore, I assure you, it's a coincidence. These types of reviews are something I did when I was in Fort Wayne in 2007 (didn't do them in 2008 because there were DVR issues I was having). ... My take: If this is something that Rothstein has been doing for a while and took pride in, wouldn't he want to try a little bit harder to fix his "DVR issues" so that he could write his trademark column in 2008?

I'd seriously like to believe it's a coincidence, but with all the stuff that's been going on the past few years I just don't have a lot of faith in mainstream journalism nowadays.

If he had a different title, nobody when even make a comparison or even notice. Other than that he is not repeating/stealing anything from Brian. What Brian does is unique and ten times better stylistically and substantially from that post at the AANews. Brian's is a complete play by play with homemade metrics and play descriptions and on and on and on. This was just stream of consciousness like observations after rewatching the game. Translation: Something a lot of us do in the diary or forum section after every game. Of course, none of us are cheecky or tacky enough to name our Diary something like that. And that's where this is an issue. I mean, C'mon AA News, I know you know Cook exists, you have to know about his UFR, why try to fool new people on the Internet into thinking this is 'that cool URF something or other my nephew keeps telling me about.' If the guy wrote about something other than Michigan football in Fort Wayne in 2007 when he said he started and he is new to the AA News I can excuse him for the title, but the people putting people in place in this online AA News should be more savvy than that. Imitation is not only bound to happen, but a form of flattery. Nevertheless, if I were Brian, I would respectfully ask them to change the name of their segment. And possibly use to pulpit of his blog to bear pressure if they dont do it upon first request.

Rothstein's OFR was previously titled "Breaking Down the Tape" during his time with the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, featuring content identical to what we saw for yesterday's game. The name change? Meh, someone would have to ask him.

"Theirs goes 'Ding ding ding ding-a ding dink. Ding ding ding ding-a ding dink. Ours goes 'Ding ding ding ding-a ding dink. DING ding ding ding ding-a ding dink." -Vanilla Ice, on the curious similarity between the riffs from "Ice Ice Baby" and Queen's "Under Pressure." All joking aside, I'll concede that the author was doing these prior to his moving to AA.com. Noted. Also noted: they aren't all that similar to, nor in the same league as, UFR. Upon reading that Big Will didn't make it into the game, I was compelled to ask, were you even watching? We're up by 24, used four QBs, just about every healthy RB on the roster, and you think our 5-star D-liner isn't getting some work? He made a big tackle late in the 4th, and I doubt anybody in the stadium needed a DVR to spot it. Minor oversight? Perhaps. But I think I'll stick with UFR.
