The thing that bothers me about talk radio is that somebody always has to be talking.  I know that sounds stupid, but think about it.  If somebody wanted you to talk into a microphone three hours a day, and stay focused on a general topic, most likely a lot of stupid shit is going to come out of your mouth, along with a lot of repetition.  Its just hard to generate quality product for that length of time.  Amani's nonsense here, about "that offense" not being amenable to bad weather is a perfect example.  It is just some half-baked throw away comment that crumbles under closer examination.  I mean, OK Amani I guess that vicious Ann Arbor October weather is what did our team in last year, not it's lack of experience and defensive issues.  But in the context of talk radio, that is what we expect, and what most listeners tune in for probably.  At work when we travel, my boss, in order to avoid partisan disputes that would erupt should he tune in political talk radio, instead opts to play ESPN radio at length.  I am (but I should not be) always flabbergasted at the repetition of stories and the self-righteous smugness of the commentators.  Mike & Mike, Cowherd, and even Van Pelt for Christ's sake just hammer away endlessly ....kind of like this post is doing.

I gave up on any kind of talk radio for that same reason.  Of every 10 minutes they spend about 1 on new material, 3 repeating said new material, 2 minutes saying 'this is the Joe Smith show on ESPN...,' 2 more talking about what they're going to be talking about next and the last 2 are all commercials.

He was then on Jim Rome later in the day and bashed just about everything.  From our offense being a "funny, gadget offense", and there is no passing threat at all which to him is a waste.  Doesn't sound like Amani knows a whole lot about the new program, and that's sad.  Definitely not one of my favorite former Wolverines after those comments.

The other day wasn't cowherd that idiot singing our praises? lol what a tool

Edit: I commented before listening as I thought he was bashing, but he really doesn't.  Surprising though to hear him of all people think RR will succeed.

That guy is always at the forefront of jackassery. I remember his bold preseason prediction four years ago that Wisconsin was going to beat Michigan. The game was to be played in Madison and Wisconsin was ranked higher at that point. The dude is a knob. That is all.

Toomer's comment about "that style of offense" and the weather is what he was taught during his era at Michigan.  I used to have a lot of arguments in bars about that very subject.  The prevailing "wisdom" back then was that you needed to have a great ground game that was based on a lot of big, bulky bodies for when the weather got cold.  The importance of speed was considered minimal in the Big Ten during November, and passing was seen as something that "won't work when the weather gets cold."

Toomer is just parrroting what he was told years ago.  I would hope that he eventually decides to educate himself on modern college football soon if he is going to work in TV and radio, though.  I'm guessing he will jump back on the bandwagon as soon as he is proven wrong.

I watched a game with the alumni association a few years back, and amani was there cheering with the rest of us...he just seemed like a normal fan.surprising to hear that was an anomaly.

the UM teams Amani was on had great passing, pro style offense, and we loved that. Now we switch to the spread which I cussed completely when Northwestern beat us with that gadget ass offense about 10 years ago something like 54-52. I freakin hated that what I though and still do think a better/more talented UN team lost to the gadget offense (we played one spread team how can our defence prepare for that?)  NOW I fully support UM and the spread, basically how I feel is if we ran the wishbone as effectively as Oklahoma did at one time and won with that more power to them. SO whatever scheme you run, run it well and win. Would I prefer a well run prostyle to a well run spread, not sure yet, I really liked the UConn game and think WHEN UM does that to OSU then yeah, I will like the spread and I bet Amani Toomer will as well. It's like your children, you love em all for different reasons.

Amani has made his feelings about Michigan football very well known. Apparently some people didn't get the memo: He had a bad experience here and because of it he has almost nothing nice to say about the program. We could have hired Bill effing Belichick and Amani would have found something to complain about. It's not worth getting worked up over Amani or Ty Law or whoever dissing the program.

they are, the more these punks will come hop on the bandwagon. Just wait until we smash ND this weekend. Next week Amani will be talking about how RR is doing a great job getting the program back to where it should be. I agree with the above post about talking for 3 hours straight. The only talk radio worth listening to is Sirius NFL radio. Every host is a former player, coach, or some sort of expert (except Shein - and even he is pretty good). If you want to learn more about x's and o's tune into Moving the Chains or buy Pat Kirwan's book entitled, "Take your eye off the ball." It's a badass way to up your knowledge of schematics explained in a easy to digest way.

Yeah, Amani is a total piece of shit.  He totally sucked when he was a star WR at Michigan, helping to bring wins and championships to A2.  It's crazy the terms used to describe him, "punk", "jackass", etc.

C'mon.  Don't trash a Michigan Man...especially when those trashing would be the first ones to ask for his autograph if they happened to run into him somewhere.

While I've heard the notion that "Amani wants nothing to do with Michigan", I'm not sure I know where that comes from.  Feel free to provide the link/quote for that notion.

That being said, it's absolutely fair to call him a Michigan Man.  He played ball for four years and did a hell of a lot more for Michigan than many.
