All refs identified for remaining MBB tourney games
Yes, but the same poll had TV Teddy Valentine #3. Not a good poll.
Not sure how you can say it's not a good poll when it's comprised of votes from 100 college coaches. Just because we don't like Valentine doesn't mean his inclusion on the list invalidates it.
That said I hope we get Ayers.
Here's another one for 2017:
Official Rating 1 Roger Ayers 50.8 2 Mike Eades 50.4 3 John Higgins 48.1 4 Terry Wymer 46.7 5 Ted Valentine 45.7 6 Jeffrey Anderson 45.6 7 Jamie Luckie 44.5 8 Keith Kimble 44.3 9 Michael Stephens 43.1 10 Brian Dorsey 43.0 11 Bo Boroski 42.6 12 Doug Sirmons 42.2 13 Steve Olson 42.1 14 Verne Harris 41.7 15 Pat Adams 41.5 16 DJ Carstensen 40.8 17 Pat Driscoll 40.5 18 John Gaffney 40.4 19 Kipp Kissinger 40.4 20 Ray Natili 40.3

Craig Ross thinks Wymer has it in for us. I don't remember why. Maybe because an OSU guy.
Quick google search shows that Wymer is from my neck of the woods, North Baltimore, OH HS and Findlay University.

Aka the town with the Pioneer Sugar towers that let you know it is time to get off of 75 if heading to Columbus.

I had some questions about Wymer from the past, but I think he has given us fair games in the past 3 years. I think we are something like 7-7 against real competition in games he has called. in 2015-18.We had him in the round of 32 this year and I thought he was very good.
We also get Oglesby routinely and I think he is a very solid ref. Always happy to see him.
Reffing BB is hard and it is impossible not to make mistakes, but I think Oglesby is very good and Wymer---I have come to believe has no agenda, is not putting his finger on the scales.
I've never heard of any of these guys, so I am assuming that is a good thing for the Final Four.

Kimble & McCall officiated the FSU game on Saturday. I thought that game was poorly officiated and that Keith Kimble, in particular, made several questionable calls that went against Michigan. I made a mental note at the time that I hoped he would not officiate another one of our games this year.

a limited history with these two, other than the fsu game..However, we had Kimble for Texas this year and he was fine. Had McCall for LVille last year and he was OK in that one.
who called the blocking foul on trey burke?
the block was clean dammit.
2013 NCAA Championship Game Referees: John Cahill, John Higgins, Tony Greene.
Tony Greene made the horrific call on the Burke block.
Wymer did the Houston game. I thought he actually was keeping the game in check while the other 2 whistled everything against us.
He's pretty horrible, maybe because he gets paired with Valentine consistently as Big 10's #1 crew.
Could be worse. Somehow Tony "Burke's Block" Greene still has a job and he's not on the list.
soon. . .
Pitino starting his patented reach-around. Perfected it in numerous hotel rooms.
Is he trying to find his belly button?
Clearly, he told Pitino what he ate for dinner and that it was causing some discomfort and Rick is just trying to do the humane thing here. I mean, why else do you appear to give a ref a belly rub in the middle of a game, right? I can't think of another reason...
Caption might read:
"Swallow your whistle in the NC against Michigan under 6 and it might be your last meal. Don't forget who puts food on your table Tony, alright. We cool?"

eliminated from Final Four consideration by the crew he worked with the first game of the tournament that apparently missed a call. Higgins worked the championship game in 2013 between Michigan and Louisville.
This is a guy who regularly works the Final Four. And I don't have a clue why. He didn't make the foul call on Burke on his clean block, but he seems to lack great mechanics. So, I guess its just his game management skills that moves him forward.
By the way, that is why Wymer advances. At this level, you are judged on your ability to manage the game. With millions watching and so much on the line, making the right call is important, being able to handle everything that goes with it, is bigger.

Higgins any more than Phil Bova and Bova was the worst ref (sinceJim Bain) to ever work a UM game..
I thought one reason we did well against Texas A&M was that the referees called a loose game. I think they could have called more fouls both ways and that might have given A&M a chance to breathe and even put Mo on the bench even thought I didn't see anything that could have been called on Mo.
Does anyone know better? I don't claim to be terribly knowledgable regarding the officials.
I do so blinkin' hope that the refs don't give us reason to complain.
I want the A&M refs.
They kept the game fair but flowing.
They did what refs are supposed to do, and no more than that.
They should do away with refs and let the players call their own fouls. Playground, baby!
(Can you imagine a Michigan/MSU game under those conditions?)
Wow I'm shocked just so the announcers can talk about having the Super Bowl and Final 4 for 5 minutes.
IMO We do well in games that are called somewhat loosely, but not in games where outright mugging is allowed.
In games where ticky-tack BS is called (see our first Big Ten Tourney game), we get importaint people like Mo into foul trouble too easily. In games where outright mugging is allowed (see the 2013 NCAA title game), our lack of big bodies causes us trouble. I remember one play where McGary finally got fed up and actually body-checked a guy several feet because he was physically backing him down and there was still no call. Those guys were ridiculously bad--possibly the worst I've ever seen.
The "perfect" officiating for us IMO is a crew that lets the teams play and ignores ticky-tack crap, but calls anything overtly physical.
that's the TL;DR version, yes.
starts, there is a point of emphasis in what officials are expected to call. I can tell say without equivocation that restriction of movement is the POE of this tournament. That means calling illegal picks that are either moving or not set. This is a reflection of POE from the season's start. The other POE is requiring the defender on a block-charge call to cross all t's and dot all i's, and then maybe it will be called a charge.
The fact of the matter is, the block/charge call is now going to the offense not the defense.
Here is what not being called strictly: basket interference, either as goal tending or not. I was appalled at the lack of calls for goal tending on TAMU on Thursday night. At least three calls were allowed to stand that should have been reviewed as likely basket interference. If the ball is in the cylinder, you can't touch it as an offensive or defensive player. This seemed to be regularly ignored in that game.
Interesting. You seem to have a knack for officiating. What gives, you TV Teddy, or something?
(Haa! I kill me! But no, I know you're not him...)
(Are you?)
