AAGO MSU and OSU require game tickets to park

Submitted by preed1 on
Ann Arbor golf and outing are requiring game tickets from everyone in the vehicle to park. So if you plan on not going into the game but tailgate there I would suggest you find someone with a ticket and park and meet them in to get around that. Or park at the high school, UM course, or the various other locations.

To “assure” a person of something is to make him or her confident of it. According to Associated Press style, to “ensure” that something happens is to make certain that it does, and to “insure” is to issue an insurance policy. Other authorities, however, consider “ensure” and “insure” interchangeable.

In consulting, your lawyers will try to keep you from ever using any of these terms.

As a side note, the words are generally used differently in UK English; assure generally means insure.

Those are usually the rowdier parking areas and I'm sure the owners were nervous in the first place about the night game and the amount of drinking that goes on. Add in the stresses of a rivalry game and that becomes a hot spot for trouble. If I'm the owner of those places, I'm doing everything I can to minimize the possiblity of trouble. If everyone in the lot has a game ticket, it cuts down on the number of people in the lot during the game.

I'm lucky to have a nice one still operating near me. The theater was built in 1948 and the current owner worked there for 30 years then bought it in 1994 from the original owners. My girls love going and tickets and concessions are reasonable. The only drawback is I have a hard time staying awake, especially when they have triple features!

Edit: You inspired me softshoes. Taking the family to the drive-in tonight. Lego Ninjago, Leap, and IT.

but this probably won't end well on game day because of likely unintended consequences. Me? I'm going to be proactive and contact tonight everyone in n my party to make sure tickets are distributed prior to the drive to AAGO. But I wish instead they'd focus on a plan to avoid the huge traffic jam bound to occur due to the noon opening of all major lots near The Big House.

I didn't even think about the opening of the lots at noon, at the exact same time. That is going to be a huge clusterf**k.

So if you arrive 15 min early, is there going to be an armada of cars running circles around the lot waiting to get in? Or are people just going to create a line of cars in the road that will back up traffic even more?

Getting into the Blue Lot for the first Notre Dame night game was one of the most stressful things I've been through related to Michigan Football. The cops were unbearable--saw one of them flat-out give one driver the finger. They weren't allowing a line, so the two cars we were trying to get in for our tailgate had to camp out over on Brown Street and try to coordinate over the phone to get in the line once the cops decided enough was enough. The whole thing was a cluster.

And, really, this is why the night game idea seems more hassle than it's worth if your tailgate is in one of the big lots. The normal 6AM for a noon/3:30 with people just slowly accumulating over the first few hours is far more preferable to the nightmare that is everyone descending on the same crowded streets all at once while the Athletic Department, UM Police, UM Public Safety, and the AAPD all try to flex their muscles in different directions all at once.

Well, to be fair, the parking situations and traffic flows at other places are pretty different. Michigan Stadium is smack dab in the middle of a bunch of different things, between neighborhoods, university buildings, golf courses, businesses, windy streets that don't really handle the bulk of traffic, as well as a parking infrastructure that's woefully inadequate for a 100k+ stadium.

Penn State, for example, is surrounded by parking lots. Michigan State has their tailgating lots spread out across campus, plus Munn Field. Logistically, Michigan Stadium is not ideal, and its issues are exposed particularly badly when everyone descends on the place all at once at noon for a night game.

AAGO can do whatever they want. I just hope they get the word out there in a sufficient manner otherwise the already horrible backups will be made worse by cars being turned away at the entrance.

That is required if you are buying a reserved spot through Park N Party. The vast majority of spots are not through Park N Party. Nowhere on AAGOC's website or Facebook says anything about requiring a ticket to the game. I would check with AAGOC before posting Park N Party's requirements.

Does this mean "one of the passengers" or "all passengers?" I take this sentence to mean "one of the passengers."

SPECIAL NOTE:  Michigan State & Ohio State games only.  In order to park at the Golf Course for these games, ONE vehicle passengers MUST show their game day tickets to attendant.

Better way to keep the visitors' shenanigans to a minimum: Stop letting the TV networks dictate gametimes and have this be a 3:30 game, like it should be. They still get to turn on the fancy lights for the second half, and everyone goes home happy before midnight.

This seems very ND Tailgating esque as a policy, but I understand it. They are trying to combat the MSU crowd that comes just to tailgate. Ohio State however, makes no sense to me.

Also, as said by someone else before, this will create EVEN MORE BACKUPS, as there WILL be people who won't know about this and be turned down at the gate.

The intentions are good, but it creates more headaches than it solves. Unfortunately, you just have to accept the fact that MSU fans will come without going in, and be prepared for that nightmare.

Are tickets going to be required for everyone in the car, or just one passenger? I am planning on going to the game, but a few of my buddies were just going to come with for the tailgate, and we were going to park at AAGO.
