8:20 am ET -- URGENT - Coach B about to be on Golic & Wingo
Public announcement in case you are near a radio or TV and can stomach ESPN for a bit. Coach B about to be on. That is all.
Talk about a mean thing to call Sam Webb (CLEARLY KIDDING HERE)
More like Waterboy and Wingo - Golic cant even put together a full sentence without fumbling his words
PTI is about the only watchable show on ESPN, but I will admit Golic and Wingo isn't the worst (but still not good).
PTI is a microcosm of everything that is wrong with ESPN. Unwatchable.
I will admit, I was completely against his show for a long time, but have absolutely come around to LeBatard. They talk about sports in such a way that is much more entertaining than the rest of national sports media that just says the same generic things about the same topics over and over again.
The TV show is unwatchable.
I was talking about the radio show. I don't know the last time I turned on an ESPN network for anything other than live sports.

Who?
Everytime an ESPN show is brought up the same discussion ensues. Jeez, the OP was simply pointing out our coach was going to be on.
is really not that different than it has always been. The daytime stuff is terrible but daytime stuff is always terrible. They have tried to get too trendy-pop culture with SportsCenter evening and that is pretty bad too. But I never watched ESPN for any of that anyway. I watch live sporting events and 30 for 30 and both of those things are still solid.
They have lost quite a few quality play by play guys and that has hurt their coverage, particularly with football. I don't hate Steve Levy or Brian Greise but there is just no way they should be calling Top 25 games.
Who else are you gonna get to call top 25 games though? I mean, not everyone can be a Keith Jackson or, dare I say it, a Kirk Herbstriet. There are very few great announcers, very few BAD announcers, and then there's everybody else. Seems like there is a lot of hate for some guys simply because of the network they work for, which in all honesty...I don't care. Just call a good game. We can't always control who hires who.
is my point. It is certainly not the announcers' fault, they can only call the games they are assigned to and that is fine, a lot their crews are servicecable enough. But they have lost Nessler and Tirico, and McDonaugh only calls MNF. Those were their three best play-by-play guys, are for some baffling reason they believe that Fowler can be the lead in their #1 crew. They could seriously swap Fowler for Rece Davis and it would already be an upgrade. Then they could pair Fowler with Blackledge for their #2. Tessitore and Griese would be an upgrade over Levy who should really only be doing sideline and pregame.
And why exactly can't McDonaugh call any games, even if he is not assigned the "Game of the Week." You don't need encyclopedic knowledge of all of college football to effectively call a game so I don't think it is a time/preparation issue, he could cram for one night and have a plausible understanding of two teams to call the game. Put him on the Thursday night crew, maybe. The time is passed when the MNF announcer is this "unique persona" who can only call that game, there is no reason they can't still utilize him for college games.
I don't know, I just don't think ESPN has done enough to maximize the on-air talent they still have even though they have lost quite a bit.
Sometimes how replies go to a thread here can be too easily predictable .
I had no idea about the Saving Private Ryan being about his mom's cousins. I can't believe he has been here this long and I did not know that.
I didn't know that either. Here's a link that goes into the story of his mother's family and their losses in WWII:
Good enough excuse to post this.
Get him on Le Batard and I'll be all ears.
