record but gnawing disappointment over what happened to us in Columbus is what I feel right now. This team is REALLY GOOD and for the Officiating to so obviously impact the game...I can't get the photos of those refs pretty much cheering for their team out of my head. The loss in Iowa was unfortunate, losses like that happen, but what happened in Columbus should never happen. We've all heard of Coach Harbaugh stating how bitter he felt towards the officiating. It did sound like Bo-speak and at the time I felt he was just using the phrase, but now I feel...bitter. I guess. It really bothers me what happened to us down there; the talking heads for the most part glorify the Buckeyes and their win over us and we are just hosed at the 5th spot.
Coach Harbaugh has done an amazing job with the team, restoring the respectablity and 'fear factor' we once took for granted. I look forward to 'Greatness' in the future but unless we get lucky it feels we will be the sacrificial lambs to Officiating change and most probably a change in the Playoff system to at 8 teams.

Wisconsin was a close win. Whether we were truly in danger of losing is debatable, but it was tied 7-7 in the fourth quarter.

Yes Wisconsin was close (only due to missed FGs and a lucky int) but by the last drive of the game we were in no danger of losing. Harbuagh was so confident actually he was content to run into stacked boxes and punt for the last 10 minutes of the game. And Colorado was never close for the last 20 minutes of the game (without 2 of our best players).

I refuse to believe that we can't get 2 more wins... Just saying.. The stuff that has gone on this year has been crazier than believing that we get in if VA Tech beats Clemson! Go Hokies!!

I predicted 11-1 with a loss to Iowa.
Fairly disappointed, not because 10-2 is bad, but given the promise this team has shown we really wasted a big opportunity.
The Iowa loss was very, very bad, especially considering that 2016 Iowa was much worse than most were expecting in the preseason. We were outcoached, out played mentally and the offense couldn't do anything. Also, while it was nice to win in East Lansing, MSU was so terrible compared to preseason expectations that it really means next to nothing.
Sure, Wisconsin, Colorado and PSU were all impressive Top 25 wins against teams that overperformed from preseason expectations, but they were all at home. Michigan has not gone on the road and beaten a team in that finished the regular season at 9-3 or better since 2007 (over 9-3 Illinois) and 8-4 or better since 2010. That's sad. Our best road win of the past 6 years was last year at 7-5 Penn State. Ugh.
Ohio State loss was tragic for so many reasons. We should've won but didn't due to both horribly one-sided officiating and many of our own self-inflicted mistakes.
If we lose the bowl game, this season would come very close to a failure in my book. Still proud of the way the team worked and fought, but for whatever reason this group did not have the mental edge that championship teams need. That falls on everyone.

That's nowhere close to right. They beat 10-2 Florida last season. And they beat three 10-2 teams this season. And that's just off the top of my head.

Florida absolutely does not count.
1) Neutral site games don't have real student sections, by far the loudest part of any stadium.
2) The Citrus Bowl last year was at least 1/3rd Michigan fans, and potentially even close to 40%.

For me, you have to factor in the fact that we sucked on the road AND at home from 08-14

Also I can't imagine there are many teams with a good record against 10 win teams when playing on the road. Alabama sure, and maybe Ohio state. That's probably it.

what is our record against said teams? At least the man did research. Don't complain about something that you aren't willing to do

I thought Michigan didn't play football since 2007 until last year. Ya sure, we beat Va Tech in a BCS Bowl game somewher along the lines(so I've heard), but the rest of that time is a foggy haze that never included a football team in my mind. Michigan went straight from 2006 Lloyd to Harbaugh, isn't that correct?

We actually have several decent home wins in that stretch; including three undefeated home seasons (2011, 2012 and 2016).
No doubt this team looks like a shell of itself on the road, even under Harbaugh (2015 we looked very poor at Minnesota and Indiana, both 6-6 teams).

"Gone on the road and beaten"
All 10-2 teams we beat this season were in the Big House. Florida was at a neutral site.
I'm talking true road games. We have failed miserably, and that includes Harbaugh, Hoke, Rich Rod and even Carr in his last few years.

I was in the stadium. We easily had 35% of the fans, no road game we would ever have that much. The Michigan side was cheering and screaming when Florida was on third down.
Not to mention, even if Florida did have 85% of the stadium (they didn't), they wouldn't have had their student section there. Big student sections lead the way in making any road game hostile and they do not exist at neutral sites.

Michigan did not have anywhere close to 35% of Spartan Stadium this year and definitely was no more than 20% at Rutgers (a game I was also at this year).
Ryan Field is the only exception, but it's a tiny 30,000 person stadium for a team that has no real fanbase.

What is the purpose of including the RR, Hoke and late Carr tenures?
If we're evaluating Harbaugh we should focus on his two seasons and perhaps what he's done elsewhere. Talking about how "Michigan" struggled on the road over the last 10 years only has relevance to us fans. No one - not even Jon Falk or Fred Jackson - was part of the program for all that time.

I, too, have a bad taste in my mouth as to how this season ended, but it isn't based on a couple of bad bounces. Two losses...four points was it? Games we should have won and didn't because we didn't execute when we had to.
Harbaugh had a stellar defense and a so-so offense. They didn't get the job done. That's it, pure and simple, two bad fourth quarters is the difference between 12-0 and 10-2. We should be in the mix for the NC, but we failed when others didn't.
Harbaugh to this point is 20-5. Two years ago that seemed like an impossible dream, so yeah, things are way, way better. There is still a taller mountain to climb. Michigan needs to learn to win on the road against good talent. Until that happens, we will be left out of the NC picture. I believe Harbaugh has what it takes to get us there.

There were 177 upvotes to his re-entry post yesterday, and only one neg: ca_prophet
Since he didn't post a comment in the thread explaining why he negged, my money's on him as the remora.

but I don't think ANY disappointment I have experienced with this team will stick with me as long as this will.

Forget the 4th and 1 it really was too close, but on the 3rd down reversed field before the 4th and 1, call the blatant holding and block in the back on the very visible outside receiver and it doesn't matter.

tough OSU defense. What the fuck is wrong with them?
And this was one of many.

When none of your wins were in doubt, and your losses both came on the last play of the game, it's hard to swallow 10-2.
