An open letter to Illini AD Josh Whitman - write yours
Be petty like me and write yours to him at [email protected]
Mr. Whitman,
As a passionate Michigan fan, I am disturbed and highly perplexed by your open letter pleading (declaring?) that your Illini are co-champions of the 2021 Big Ten Men's Basketball season. In your letter you mention you don't want to take anything away from Michigan, yet your entire letter is an attempt to do so, regardless of whatever empty pleasantries you included.
Here are some suggested topics of discussion for you and Mr. Underwood regarding winning a big ten championship this season
1. Beat Rutgers. (Michigan did) 2. Beat Ohio State on your home floor. (Michigan beat them on theirs) 3. Beat Maryland on your home floor (Michigan swept them) 4. Beat Michigan State. (Michigan did)
The way I and many others see it is that you're fortunate Michigan did not in fact play the 3 games that were cancelled, as they most likely would have won all three of them with the way they were playing and you would have no gripe at all.
It's sad that a team that lost 4 games is speaking out so feverishly in public when the only recourse you should take is to evaluate yourselves and ask why YOU LOST 4 GAMES to inferior opponents. (And don't forget about almost losing to the worst team in the big ten and only beating them in overtime, CONGRATS CHAMPS!!)
Have a nice day - and maybe instead of attempting to cheapen what it means to win a big ten championship you guys can focus your energy on actually winning one fair and square on the court - ONE DAY.
Signed,
Fan of the 2021 Big Ten Men's Basketball Champion Michigan Wolverines
I'll keep it short and to the point.
Dear Illinois director of athletics,
Please divide 16 by 20. Then divide 14 by 17. Which value is greater?
S. Wolverine
P.S. Please find some other school to be rivals with, because we're a little busy. Thanks.
I think yours was a lot better than mine lol
For the P.S. alone, I regret I can only up-vote you once. Never have I seen a more unrequited "rivalry." Crusty the Clown had a bigger "rivalry" with Mike Tyson.

I'd say that Illinois, in general, is more like Glass Joe.
P.S. Please find some other school to be rivals with, because we just don't give a damn about you.
FIFY.....
The kicker for me is his claim that they should share the title because they had the "most wins." By that logic, would he crown a Nebraska team that played an extra 50 games and managed to get to 17 wins?
The thing that got me about his statement was his recollection that this has never happened "in his memory", that the team with the most wins doesn't get the championship. Well, chief, that might be because there's this thing called covid-19. Heard of it? There hasn't been a global pandemic of this scale in over 100 years. No doy you can't ever remember this happening before...there's a lot of that going around the last 365 days, so join the club.
I love snarling wolverines letter. Along the same lines:
Dear Illinois Director of Athletics,
On 02/26/2021, you voted that Win Percentage should determine the the Big Ten Champion. I agree.
UM85
This is ridiculous.

Your coach told us big ten championships are meaningless. I see no reason to question his sincerity (at least on this subject). As he was appointed by you to be the spokesperson of your basketball program, I must defer to his judgement.
I'm not certain how sincere Brad Underwood is about anything aside from Brad Underwood.
Dear Mr. Whitman,
May I suggest that you switch to boxer briefs? They won't bunch up like your panties do.
don't feed the troll

I thought it was 'don't feed the gremlin'.
Yeah but I'm hungry sometimes
Are we just trying to give the illini motivational material?
Yeah, cuz they'll be posting crap from anonymous Michigan message board randos on their bulletin board.
OMG, some dude on some Michigan website said we're not champs and insulted our coach AND our AD!! Oh noes!!!! This is the motivation I needed to win the next game!!11!11!
They can just have their mom make a banner for them to hang.... Scott Frost's mom has a pattern, they just have to replace ucf 2017
Dear Mr Whitman,
Fuck off!
Copy cat!
dear someone supposedly named "josh whitman" (and i can't guarantee that's the case, because we've never heard of you before):
suck it.
sincerely,
everyone.
Dear, Illinois AD,
You & your "so-called" university have been, are currently, and will be irrelevant forever.
People will always talk about "Michigan" - because, deep down in places you don't talk about, you know Michigan is the best and always will be.
So, make whatever 'claims' you wish - make any "statements" - nobody hears your words.
In 1000 years, there will be no "Fighting Illini" - but, there will always be..... MICHIGAN.
Go Blue.

Bring back Lovie!
1989 forever!
Nothing. Don't argue with a fool; people might not be able to tell the difference.
Agreed. We could just shut up and take the W, and that would make us B1G Champs and the bigger men. Nobody likes a sore winner.
Mr. Whitman,
Your letter, is bullshit.
You try coming off of a three week covid layoff without missing a beat.
Sincerely,
Blue Nation
Dear Mr Whitman,
We feel you deserve a trophy for your efforts. Michigan fans will gladly send you a CRYING JORDAN statue with the inscription “We should be Big 10 champs, 2020-21.
Dear Mr. Whitman,
A small penis does not make you any less of a man. It just means you are destined to finish in second place to those who have more to swing. Grow up. You should be used to it by now.
Did I do this right?
I would never write a letter to that jackass.
If I did it would not be very nice.
It would go like:
Dear IL AD,
Go Fuck Yourself. Michigan won the B1G fair and square, anyway you slice it!
Sincerely,
uminks.

Dear AD
In your own statement you say that it was agreed by all parties that the champion would be determined by winning percentage specifically because there very well may be disparate situations (which was re-ratified on February 26 with your approval- maybe you expected to lose to Michigan?). You then continue in the very next sentence to complain that because of disparate situations Michigan should not be the champion, excuse me, actually should not be the sole champion. If you had at least brought up Ohio State and how their football team got a favorable ruling late in the season you might have begun to have some comparison- however, the problem is that the conference had not had the same clarity of determining the champion for football as it did for basketball. So Ohio State was a benefit of learning during the Covid and your loss is similarly the result of learning during the Covid. Ohio State didn't change the rules after agreeing to them, but you are attempting to do so. When I was young that was known as a poor loser.
Sincerely,
