Game Day Weather

Welp. We've had some beautiful game days and some not as pretty game days, and this is going to fall in the not category. An exiting low pressure system to the south will keep gray skies and showers in the forecast. We can also look forward to cooler than normal temperatures and it'll be a bit windy out there. Dress warm, grab the poncho, and get ready to cheer loudly against those Hoosiers! Let's go blue!

Tailgating

How are we halfway through tailgate season?! I mean, football season. lol jk! We all have a friend who really doesn't care a whole lot about the sport but shows up for the food at the tailgate! Hey, we love 'em anyway, they're always welcome for the food & comradery! But maybe this is the game you bring out the shrimp cocktail, the fancy meats and cheese, etc, because this is a morning that this friend is a little more likely to opt out of. Literally a fair-weather fan? :D After seeing widespread rain move in Friday night, we'll still have rain Saturday morning. Not going to rule out a few breaks in the action here and there, but it looks to rain throughout the morning - we could pick up 1/4" of rain just during your tailgate time. If you're setting up a tent you'll also want to make sure those sandbags/stakes are set up well. Wind increases overnight Friday, and by the early morning hours we're already seeing steady ENE winds near 20mph (small trees sway) with gusts in the upper 20s - gusts like this can make using an umbrella a bit tricky. So set up your boujee cheese tray ;) away from the tent edge and make sure everything is secure and won't blow away. Temps will be in the upper 40s but it'll feel more like 40 thanks to the wind, so you'll likely want an extra couple of layers.

Kickoff

Near 50 for the start! This lunchtime game is kicking off with some rain! Winds will be out of the NE near 20mph with gusts into the mid 30s. You may hear the wind whistling from time to time. The wind will have it feeling more like the low 40s or so.

Halftime

Are you taking a break from the rain for snacks? Gotta eat the nachos at least with a roof overhead - nothing worse than soggy nachos! You might want to also grab a hot chocolate, just to take that chill away as we're still sitting close to 50 degrees. Rain is still moving through with winds remaining up out of the NE.

Post-Game

Are you soaked yet? Cold? Windblown? Who cares, we got the win! The main rain will start to come to an end as we finish the game and get home. Scattered showers will then be possible for the remainder of the day into Saturday night. NE winds will stay up near 20mph, gusting to around 30mph, into the evening before starting to drop down a tad. Take it easy on the way home as gusts throughout the day may have knocked over some empty trash cans, blown around some light plastic objects. By the late-night winds will be around 15mph, with gusts into the lower 20s, and stay in that range overnight, becoming northerly. This will keep that extra bite in the air so although temperatures themselves won't be too bad, it'll feel chilly. We'll fall to the upper 40s in the evening, then to the mid 40s through last call. The breeze will have it feeling more like 40. We do at least see rain chances diminish quite a bit through the late-night hours and you could even see a few breaks in the clouds! And Sunday won't be as rainy! Woohoo! Stay warm, stay dry, and cheer loudly for our guys! Go blue!!

CHRISTINA BURKHART IS THE MORNING METEOROLOGIST FOR ABC IN FLINT, MI. SHE GREW UP IN ANN ARBOR AND ASSOCIATES SATURDAYS WITH MICHIGAN FOOTBALL. GO BLUE!!

Friend of mine has 2 tickets available in Section 17. He has family commitments. Email me at Username @ Gmail if Interested. Make an offer.

Close to the entrance of the section so easy to get a break from the rain!

Based on the forecast, I’m assuming the golf course will be closed for tailgating. Has anyone tailgated in the parking structures near campus? Have always seen people there in the past, but have never done it myself - tomorrow might be the day to try it.
