Enough is enough. It is time for a change.
I have kept quiet about this because I didn't want to clutter the boards but I have had enough and can't hide my frustrations anymore. A change is necessary and must be made soon. The change must be drastic cause it is better than this.
I need a new pillow in my dorm room bad. Mine has been nothing but lumpy and uncomfortable. I haven't gotten a good nights sleep on it in a while. I have tried everything. Two pillows. Sleeping on my side and back. Resting it on the headboard or flat on the bed but nothing. Your opinions are welcome about what kind of pillow I should get.

*****THIS IS AN IMPORTANT POST TO READ BECAUSE IT'S 'THE' TRUTH*****
#1) Michigan is NOT Jim Harbaugh's 'dream job.' He wants an NFL job, because him and his brother are so competitive. SD, SF, Oak and Car (and maybe even Dal and Min) are all going to be fighting over him this off-season.
#2) Dave Brandon is going to be doing absolutely everything he can to convince him to come to Michigan over the next month.
#3) In all likelihood, Rich Rod will be brought back (signing a two year extension after the bowl game), and Greg Robinson will be replaced (along with the 3-3-5). Ron English is supposedly an early DC candidate.

+1,000,000 to you, sir. I was prepared to jump all over this and then you go and totally redeem yourself. Well played!
P.S. For what its worth, I'm using a Target brand medium firmness and it seems to be working well so far . . .
November 30th, 2010 at 10:43 AM ^
I don't think you should make a decision until after the bowl game.

I'm thinking maybe the problem isn't the head of the bed...maybe you need a new DC (down comforter). Have you started due diligence?

Some sort of tempur-pedic or fake tempur-pedic is the way to go. No lumps. Real ones are very expensive, but you can get a fake one for a reasonable price. Mine isn't real, but it's one of the best birthday gifts I've ever gotten.
November 30th, 2010 at 10:46 AM ^
I tried the temperpedic, but I couldn't get used to it. It wasn't a good fit for my head. I have recently switched to an old school, thick down pillow and after the initial day or so getting used to it, I am having the best sleep of my life. I have returned to my former sleep glory.
November 30th, 2010 at 10:53 AM ^
Down pillows always poke me. Don't like it.
November 30th, 2010 at 11:07 AM ^
Damn it, my attempt at humor / sarcasm = fail.
Don't you get it people. The temperpedic pillow represents RR and the down pillow represents Harbaugh. I even threw in words like "traditional" and "wasn't a good fit."
November 30th, 2010 at 11:12 AM ^
I just didn't have a witty reply.
November 30th, 2010 at 11:49 AM ^
A girl on facebook always poked me. Turned out she wanted to have sex. Check with your pillow.

ikea makes an AWESOME one. highly recommend the medium one, is much more supportive than one might think. and its ergonomic, with curves for the head and neck. and its only like $20.
Best. Pillow. Ever.

You're in college . I'd say get some pussy those things act like turkey and put you right to sleep .
November 30th, 2010 at 10:49 AM ^
Sounds like he needs a nice pair of boobies to lay his head on at night.
November 30th, 2010 at 10:54 AM ^
In college it's not that much fun to have the girl stay the night . Those dang beds are way to small for two people . but then again i'm 6'6 so i'm not sure how it is for the average person
November 30th, 2010 at 11:45 AM ^
I'm 5' 9". Agree to disagree.
Though my roommate freshman year might be on your side of the argument. He dropped out after freshman year and transferred to State...I can't help but think I had something to do with it.

If the op likes memory foam to sleep on, i'd go with real but if the op likes the water bed feel, go fake.
November 30th, 2010 at 12:13 PM ^
He could always order the liberator as a pillow and hope that attracts some company for a nice pair of boobies. Now he's got options.

i am a big fan of using my arm as a pillow but i like to switch it up to a bunched up 25 lb korean blanket. I also like to use three pillows, one behind my back, one that i can cuddle with and one in between my legs. Works like a charm. If my pillows could stay at a chill temperature, i'd fall asleep right away 100 percent of the time
November 30th, 2010 at 10:50 AM ^
Where do you get a 25 lb Korean blanket? That thing must be massive.
November 30th, 2010 at 10:57 AM ^
my mom buys these korean mink blankets at this korean store in GR but i can assume that you can get them anywhere. I believe my two blankets cost around 100 dollars or so a piece. I sleep with two of them and they are sooo comfortable. I am kinda of like Linus of Charlie Brown and take it almost everywhere I go....where blankets are acceptable. Everyone loves them because it is soooo soft. Definately a recommendation. I bought a blanket for my college roommate cuz he kept stealing mine and it got him his first girl.
November 30th, 2010 at 10:52 AM ^
You could try to make the cooled pillow . kinda like a heated blanket you know . I'm sure it would sell great and you would make some big $$ . Just an idea have fun with it
November 30th, 2010 at 10:48 AM ^
I think you should give your current pillows a bit longer. Maybe you never really gave them a chance, you know. Just because new pillows would be fun and exciting doesn't mean you should just throw out your old pillows without giving them a chance.

I had the same weighty existential debate when I switched from Mrs. Butterworths to Aunt Jemima. Butterworth did not come through in the clutch and was UNACCEPTABLE.
November 30th, 2010 at 11:15 AM ^
You can slap around Fredo all you want, but when you start dissing Mrs. B, I gotta draw the line.
Mrs. B was still selling in high-class glass bottles when Aunt Jemima was slumming it in squeezable plastic. And butter makes everything taste better, even if it's only a name.
Mrs. B deserves one more year from you.

Royal Velvet pillows, pick them up at Bed Bath & Beyond. Only way to go.
November 30th, 2010 at 10:50 AM ^
Don't give away your current pillow until you have a new pillow lined up. Otherwise, you'll have an awkward transition period that will create a serious pain in the neck.
November 30th, 2010 at 10:51 AM ^
November 30th, 2010 at 10:54 AM ^
I got one of these at the recommendation of my chiropractor. It has made a HUGE difference in both my ability to get to sleep comfortably and in the lack of soreness I have upon waking.
November 30th, 2010 at 10:51 AM ^
you're problem is that you're pillow isn't a Michigan pillow. You need to invest in a Michigan pillow like you used to have in the good old days.
November 30th, 2010 at 10:53 AM ^
I don't think you've fully considered the ramifications of replacing your pillow. Don't you remember how when you got your current pillow, it took a long time for your neck to adjust, and there were a lot of mornings you woke up with pains? It takes time to break in a new pillow, and if you just go out and replace the one you have now with a brand new one you're going to have the same problems all over again. I know the tempur-pedic pillow has had a lot of success in someone else's bed, but it's not realistic to think you can just grab it and magically make everything perfect in your bed.
November 30th, 2010 at 10:53 AM ^
how 1995.....the new sleep is kind of like extended meditation, indian style seating, arms extended grasping at the wonderful uncertainty, taking every breath deep and really feeling the air, I mean really feeling it.

Chuck Norris doesn't sleep, he waits.
November 30th, 2010 at 10:54 AM ^
You need to sleep on it.....
November 30th, 2010 at 10:59 AM ^
Some might say that you're just a bad sleeper and that your lack of sleeping talent would be too much for any pillow to overcome. Those are just excuses, though; you're a good kid, and even though you may become a better sleeper with another year of experience, your pillow needs to meet you at least halfway in making that leap.
Your pillow has had adequate time to demonstrate that it can help you sleep effectively. It isn't working. You measure success in hours of quality sleep. If that's not happening after this long, it's time to change directions.
