Not just in a season. In a career!
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:09 PM ^
Yeah the record is now at 2 games 200/200 in a CAREER. He can at least triple that.
October 2nd, 2010 at 9:48 PM ^
Thanks for breaking the great news!
October 2nd, 2010 at 9:49 PM ^
Denard = the great one
October 2nd, 2010 at 9:49 PM ^
And to think he has 2 more years after this one!
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:40 PM ^
makes it look so easy too.
October 2nd, 2010 at 9:50 PM ^
He would win the heisman this year if we can get to at least 9 wins. No QB in the modern era with less then 9 has won it *(tebow as a soph won 8)*
October 2nd, 2010 at 9:52 PM ^
I think if we beat tuos in the finale, it's his....
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:37 PM ^
Florida went 9-3 in the regular season the year Tebo won. Then they lost in Meechigan to end the year 9-4. HAIL

Denard has rushed for 905 yards in 5 games for an average of 181 yards a game.
The NCAA single-season record for rushing yards by a quarterback is 1,494 yards (Beau Morgan, Air Force, 1996).
If Denard plays all remaining seven regular-season games this season he only has to average 84.1 yards a game to eclipse that record.
As a sophomore.
So everyone, PLEASE stop complaining about this team and enjoy one of the most remarkable athletic performances we will ever see in our lives!
October 2nd, 2010 at 9:56 PM ^
He will post a 300/200 game (which has never been done in NCAA history) sometime this season. The 300 will probably be through the air. Maybe next week.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:00 PM ^
I have had this discussion with some friends. And I thought today was the best opportunity, but I really think if Denard gets in a shootout with a team where they just trade TDs all day, a 300/300 game is not out of the question.
I hesitate to bring this up in a public forum, because it is so outlandish of a thought, but I really think it might happen in his career if he sticks for the next 3 years.
Simply amazing.

Marques Tuiasosopo in 1999 with Washington vs. Stanford.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:11 PM ^
Marques Tuiasosopo did 300/200.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:13 PM ^
I think Marques Tuiasosopo did that 300/200 for Washington in 1999... against stanford, perhaps?
Link?

I thought I heard it hadn't been done. Maybe it's 250/250. Whatever, Denard will get his own 300/200.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:57 PM ^
October 3rd, 2010 at 1:16 AM ^
Denard didn't hit 250/250. He had 244 passing and 258 rushing.
October 3rd, 2010 at 3:50 AM ^
October 3rd, 2010 at 9:55 AM ^
Denard has come closest with 240/240.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:50 PM ^
a couple long balls, he would have had it this afternoon. Ball to Hemingway and one to T. Robinson in particular would have gone the distance.

October 2nd, 2010 at 9:56 PM ^
put the team on his shoulders on the final drive? The several prior drives looked sluggish. When it mattered most, you could feel Denard running with more authority, willing the team to win. What comes to mind is watching Michael Jordan, and the way you knew that he was not going to let his team lose.
October 2nd, 2010 at 9:56 PM ^
...sort of the Tiger Woods of CFB (when Tiger was playing lights-out golf, that is).
October 3rd, 2010 at 3:59 AM ^
Except for the fact that watching Denard stand around before the play even starts is more exciting than golf has ever been or ever will be.
Golf -- It's not a sport if you can still be in the top .001% of the world at age 65.
October 2nd, 2010 at 9:59 PM ^
ONLY THREE GAMES APART.
And if that's not exciting enough for you...
Consider that he's got potentially 34 more college games left in his career.
THIRTY-FOUR.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:05 PM ^
36. You're forgetting Big Ten Championship games.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:01 PM ^
just read that last year only 6 players had over 1,000 yards passing and 900 yards rushing for the season....D-Rod did this in 5!
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:02 PM ^
EXCITING player that I ever watched play. I put Steve Breaston #2 on my list.
I think that Robinson will end up as the new #1 (if he isn't already).
Will #16 be the 6th jersey retired?
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:27 PM ^
say YES PLEASE! He would be honored to have his jersey retired due to his greatness as a QB!
October 3rd, 2010 at 1:29 PM ^
You don't retire jersey numbers in CFB. You use them for recruiting - "Hey kid, we think you're pretty special, maybe you can wear Denard's number..."
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:04 PM ^
It's been a privilege (that word sounds wierd the more you say it) to watch this guy play football. This offense is a blast to watch and even though I have about 15 cardiacs this season already, witnessing history is something special. Couldn't be happening to a better human being.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:04 PM ^
Stay healthy. Stay healthy!!!!!
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:08 PM ^
Again, I hate to be debbie downer, but Vince Young did it in 2005-2006. He did it against Oklahoma State and then again in the Rose Bowl against USC. I certainly think that you include the bowl game, especially when its the championship game. That being said, there's no way Denard doesn't do it multiple more times.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:09 PM ^
That would be why I said "regular season".
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:15 PM ^
Yeah I just think the stat is misleading. As I said, I think you have to count the bowl game as part of one season, especially when its against one of the best two teams in football.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:20 PM ^
Which part is misleading? The "regular" or the "season". Heh.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:28 PM ^
Well numerous people have already claimed that Denard is the first player to ever do it twice in one season, which is overlooking the truth. I would rather the stat be "the second player to do it twice in one season" than it be "first player to ever do it in one regular season," but whatever.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:33 PM ^
in the regular season and added that Young did it, but his second one was in a bowl game (not the regular season).
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:33 PM ^
Denard will just have to do it again and become the first guy with three.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:44 PM ^
Agreed. Like I said, there's no way he won't do it multiple more times. I'm somewhat amazed the record is only twice in one career. Denard is going to DESTROY that record and leave it in his dust.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:11 PM ^
Denard has ~2.5 years left to throw up ridiculous stats. Is there a chance in some ridiculous shootout scenario where we get no production from the RBs that he goes for 1000 total yards (passing and running)? I think its possible.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:25 PM ^
No. I can't see him putting up 270 yards more than the record (732 total yards). He might break the record, but yeesh even that is an incredible feat.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:38 PM ^
There aren't enough possessions in a game to gain that many yards as a team.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:13 PM ^
Woo Denard! Just keep 'em coming.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:17 PM ^
I would like to thank Kevin Newsome, Shavodrick Beaver, and most of all Terrelle Pryor for the opportunity they have provided Michigan Football.
October 2nd, 2010 at 10:17 PM ^
