Sorry about your luck. (Note to self: no poetry readings...)
Booked two weeks in a Scottsdale condo for next Jan/Feb so that my wife and I could begin to get a sense of the "empty nester" lifestyle. My daughter comes home from Ann Arbor on Friday, having finished her last exam today. She heads off to Italy for a two-month internship the day after my son graduates from Detroit Catholic Central HS in May. My son, for his part, moves out to Tempe in August to begin the next chapter in his life at the W.P. Carey School of Business at ASU.
It definitely feels as though I've reached a kind of finish line. Hopefully not the BIG one, mind you.
I have several years to get there; hope it is a joyous and fruitful time for you and your wife. Nice to have a getaway for next winter booked right before this winter finally ends!

I hope Fr. Gordon Judd, who is the Chair of the school's governing board, is feeling up to being there as well. He's the weekend associate pastor at our parish in Milford, and has been battling cancer for several years. We heard about two months ago that cancer has come back with a vengence this time.
We were told by a friend of ours that the Mom's Club brings cases of Kleenex to distribute to parents. I'll probably need a case myself.

Empty nest is a good phase of life. Until they are out of college, they do keep bouncing back though. But it's all good.

At 7:40 this morning, I had to go see a retina specialist who told me I have posterior vitreous detachment. Not serious in itself but sometimes can accompany or be a precursos to retinal tears and detachment. I can't decide which is worse: getting a cavity filled or having your pupil dilated and then having a super bright light probe your eyeball.

Getting a cavity filled is way, way worse. On the other hand, the super bright light is something my opthalmologist uses about 4 times a year to check my optic nerves.
I've had that in both eyes. It resolved without serious complications, though I did have to endure lots of bright lights. Hopeful for a good outcome for you as well.
I'd like a Caps vs Knights finals....... Ovi finally get his name on LS Cup
