Ole Miss formally opposes Shea's transfer:
As an aside, I wondered if sending them a copy as a courtesy was a mistake on Michigan's part.
I'm pretty sure everyone involved knew Ole Miss was going to say no. The whole thing is kind of like asking your petty lying cheat of an ex that even though you're not officially divorced yet, if she's cool with you fucking this new girl. Like, what do you think the response is going to be other than scorched earth?
That was hopefully a very unintentional insult to women.
yep. classic mgoblog thread casual misogyny
boo to the downvoter on this post.
And what's wrong with insulting men? Nothing either in my book.
Just dont insult dogs then you'll be OK in my book

Not an insult to women. If you'd prefer, maybe I should have said I've been in relationships before. I'm a man (I'm ALMOST 40), and my relationship experience is with women. The same obviously applies for both men and women. Each has their side of shady liars.
I mean...JFC...people take offense to everything. Learn some context.
... in a long series of anti-Irish policies in Oxford.
Rebels.
When the school nickname "Rebel" idolizes traitors what else are we supposed to say?
Aw those poor Landsharks?

Ole Piss itself choose to: change their mascot from a plantation owner to a bear; stop adding the chant "The South will rise again" to the end of their fight song when they gather to sing it on the Grove before games. These actions were taken because the university itself understood that their Lost Cause fantasies were damaging to their reputation and to recruiting African-American students.

OK. Now actually reconcile those facts with my criticism: why do people making such changes deserve to still be casually smeared as "racists" because we don't like their petty and unethical actions on an issue (i.e. a white qb transfer) that appears to have no racial dimensions?

"In fact I’m curious, how do all the non-white students (including many a Rebel football player), faculty, and administrators at Ole Miss fit in your self-righteous denunciation? Or is it always 1962 among the virtuous?"
I'm addressing this and pointing out that the Ole Miss administrators themselves choose to, um, "signal virtue' by changing their mascot and demand that their fans stop waving the Confederate battle flag and singing hymns to the antibellum South.
So by your own admission, these administrators have been taking active steps for years to erase the problematic Confederate romanticization from Ole Miss athletics.
The evidence you cite means that Clarkie was not merely being a bigot by labelling administrators at southern universities as "racists" -- when race has no demonstrable role in Shea's transfer -- but he was actually defaming people who have in fact worked against the racist legacy of the Confederacy.
"Virtue signalling" -- as opposed to actual virtue -- doesn't care about pesky issues like truth or fairness; it's all about hating out groups and/or lifting one's social standing (and Clarkie's behavior certainly as a welcoming contingent here).
This is hilarious. Do you ever get this amped up defending Ohio when Michiganders shit on them?
Ole Miss is notorious for having racial issues well into the 21st century regarding their school nickname/mascot/songs etc since their first black football player enrolled in 1972.
Of course people are going to bring that shit up.
You're literally mad because because fans are being fans.

1962? Really? When was it that Ole Miss finally banned Confederate Flags in the football stadium? Oh, you didn't bother to ask yourself that question. And I'll bet you didn't think about how subtly racist was that photo of Treadwell getting groped by those lovely white sorority girls (i.e., implying that this is every black recruit's dream come true).

A black man getting kissed on the cheek (apparently "groped" in your world) by two white women is the only example you can muster to justify a scattershot accusation of "racists"?
Treadwell appears to be not only appearing in the photo of his own volition, but thoroughly enjoying himself.
Your manufactured outrage infantilizes Treadwell as a moral agent and racially essentializes the two women. Bravo.
Wouldn't be a thread without wannabe-contrarian Madonna throwing a hissy fit.
no opposition will be given.
OK, just for my own understanding, is a "super douche" bigger because the vah-geen it is cleaning is larger, or is it because the vah-geen it is cleaning is especially dirty? In this case I assume the latter, as the Bible-thumping hooker fucker would seem to exude excessive dirtiness, but I am not sure...
You're a clown...
Not just a clown... but a clown baby.
....cuz it was all about the kidzzzz, right paul???
or is it peter???
....what a selfish bastard!!!

was all white.
In similar news, water is wet. Seriously, fuck these guys!
Ole Miss already submitted its objection to the transfer request. After reading the article I'm not sure this is new, or not. It seems like it quotes Mars, but it is from 10 days ago or current?
Possibly they just put the objection in some sort of formal format? That or UMB1G11 was just giving us inside information, 10 days early...
I believe after this objection Michigan was offered the chance to by the NCAA, and did, provide additional information that originally they had decided not to provide (in an attempt to play nice).
