Arkansas State Football opponent in 2020

Arkansas State University have signed a contract to play a football game against Michigan, which agreed to pay ASU $1.8 million to play the Wolverines in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Sept. 19, 2020.
Well, it probably doesnt hurt it, which matters more to the committee recently, it seems.
So we will be feasting on....
UM - 47
Ark. St. - 13
as we don't have much history with them besides the 2012 Sugar Bowl. And having VT and UW on the schedule along with that brutal B1G opening three games seemed like doom. So I hope they keep UW because I've always liked them and we have lots of regular season and Rose Bowl history. I always considered Don James to be very Bo-like, sort of the Bo of the Pac 10. The way Peterson has them going, that could be a gigantic season opener both home and away.
All right, this just got weirder. Arkansas State is scheduled to play Tulsa that day, as per FBSchedules.com
is very easy to move around. The American and Sun Belt don't release their conference schedules until the February before the season - there's tons of flexibility to move that later. I doubt either school would paticularly care if that game came admist their conference schedule.
Ark State can do: Sept 5 at Memphis, Sept 12 home vs FCS (they still need to schedule one of those), Sept 19 at Michigan, home vs Tulsa later. That's a reasonable schedule for their program and fits their goals.
ASU is in Jonesboro, which is in the northesast corner of the state, kinda far from Pine Bluff. Also, Jonesboro is just about an hour from Memphis--so one can party there.
BUT, the game is in Michigan, so....Pine Bluff sux has what too do with this?
And lastly, I'll be THAT GUY.
I have my master's degree from Arkansas State!!
Lousy football team (think 2009 Delaware State and dial it down a few notches), and they probably shouldn't be playing D1 (FCS) football. Should be D-2.
They do have a rather cool logo though. The letters "UAPB" are embedded into the lion's mane.
I actually think it'd be super fun to play both VT and Washington in the same season. One could have an off year; but if they're both good, AWESOME. We'll have the most respectable and toughest schedule in the NCAA. 1 or even 2 losses (in the first 6 six games) + winning out and a Big Ten Championship would definitely put us in contention for the playoff.
If one of these two series are canceled I'll be bummed.
we're not going to Jonesboro in a home and home. It's not the end of the earth, but you can see it from there.
The Arkansas Delta is as flat as can be. Except for Crowley's Ridge - a narrow but long "mountain" ridge in NE and EC Arkansas. Jonesboro is atop the ridge, so there are actually a few "somewhat scenic" spots around town.
So, yes, you can see the end of the earth (those often-flooded rice farms) from Jonesboro. :-)
Thus ends my innane post about Northeast Arkansas geography.
