WaPo Piece on PSU/Sandusky/Paterno
https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2017/sports/penn-state-six-year…
I'll offer this without much commentary. But wow, if you want a recap of just how delusional some folks on and near that campus are, read this in its entirety. To some of these folks, nothing matters or would ever matter in changing their minds; JoePa was framed, he knew nothing, and he should be celebrated daily on PSU's campus...
EDIT: Holy shit, this post resulted in 9/11 Truthers revealing themselves semi-publicly? My day is finished, my work is done here.

1. Review your decision-making process
2. Consider that your judgment could possibly be defective
3. Keep your opinions to yourself when they make sense to no one but you

Had he told people what he knew about Sandusky in 1998, his reputation would have been tarnished and he might have been forced out of his job.
So by keeping quiet about what he knew, he was able to keep his job. It's really not that difficult.

By not doing or saying anything JoePa benefited by continuing the myth that PSU was as pure as the driven snow

Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, told by a teenage boy in 1976 that assistant coach Jerry Sandusky molested him in a shower, responded that he didn't want to hear about it and had a football season to worry about, according to court documents unsealed Tuesday. As reported by the Chicago Tribune 2016.

Really disappointing to know that we have 9//11 Truthers and Paterno apologists on here.

9/11 truthers and other conspiracy theorists often raise a few legitimate points as to why we should be skeptical about the information our government shares (before or after certain) certain events. These few points of contention are what allow the conspiracy / tin foil hat crowd to go down the rabbit's hole of looney ideas.
Now, while I absolutely believe that the 9-/11 plot was created and carried out by Al-Quaeda as sponsored in Taliban lands, I do question things like our response to the attack (going to Iraq) and the passing of the Patriot Act. Such reactions give the truther / conspiracy theorist fuel for their fire.
Other events in our history have also allowed for conspiracy theories to take hold due to a lack of full information or false information being leaked out. A few that come to mind
1) Bombing of Pearl Harbor and our possible knowledge prior to the attack. The US was avoiding the Second Great European War due to a lack of public support for entry - The bombing was a catalyst for our entry into the war....Hence, the false flag conspiracy theorist.
2) McNamara and Vietnam (lying to the administration about realities of the ground war)
3) JFK assassination unanswered questions
Paterno on the other hand is no conspiracy. Guy knew that children were being raped by a coach / predator that he enabled.

Iraq was ostensibly a distinct issue centered on whether or not Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.

Fuck Penn State. These guys want to alter history. Joe Paterno repeatedly was warned about Sandusky. That is a grave moral failing that taints his accomplishments, and his supporters who persist, forever.

to hold the opinion that Joe Paterno was not culpable in the rape of children subsequent to learning about Sandusky's ... proclivities. And furthermore, that he did not seek to protect his own position and program at the expense of children who would be raped going forward as a result of his decision to do nothing with that information.
Just as one must be willfully ignorant in holding the opinion that the three buildings destroyed on September 11, 2001 were brought down by something other than a controlled demolition caused by explosive charges placed in advance of that date during the due diligence period for the master lease being negotiated between Silverstein Properties and the New York Port Authority, likely in the guise of costing out asbestos remediation. And that elements of Mossad, the House of Saud and the Bush Administration had at bare minimum prior knowledge and more likely an active hand in both planning and financing the attack.
Just as one must be willfully ignorant in holding to the opinion that John F. Kennedy was killed by a lone gunman whose shot from behind Kennedy taken from the 6th floor of the Book Depository Building hit Kennedy in the back of the head subsequently causing Kennedy's head to rock backward against the bullet's impact as the back of his skull was blown onto the trunk of the car behind him. Especially if one has ever been to Dealy Plaza and seen what an easy, and clean shot was available from behind the "picket fence" as Kennedy was driven straight into the gunsight, maybe 30 yards away.
Remember when thoughtful people with degrees from prestigious universities didn't trust the government, the press or pretty much anybody with "clout" ... political, financial or otherwise.
We were right.
Have at it kids.

why has the Kennedy family sit back silently and ignore your theory/conspiracy? That's right, they aren't power political power-brokers.

"It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled."
The fact that it ain't Mark Twain, doesn't make it any less the case.

Just like it's easier to make up science and "experts" that confirm your ill-informed narrative that lacks any basis in logic, reason, plausability, fact, or science, than it is to listen to people who actually know what they're talking about.
But please keep telling us we're the one with the wool being pulled over our eyes while you "LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU" when someone points out the fact that WTC7 collapsed, or that the "Silverstein had terrorism insurance coverage" was not out of the norm pre-Sept 11 for someone who had to get insurance (it wasn't - see "Background" indicating it actually was usually included pre-9/11 and an exclusion would be rare at that time (now, much more common)) coverage, or that the "Silverstein needed to do asbestos abatement" ignores the fact that asbestos was only used up until the 38th floor of WTC 1 due to NYC restrictions on the use of asbestos (see page xxxv-xxxvi), or the litany of other nonsense claims that have been repeteadly refuted (and refuted, and refuted, and refuted...)

Wow. This thread is the cure for insomnia that requires no regulatory approvals or validation. I may need a band-aid for my forehead though as it made solid contact with my keyboard. I did pass protocol however and am eligible to return to the game. Carry on.
