OT - Jerry Kill (current Rutgers OC) retires
Jerry Kill, who you may remember from such films as Rutgers current offensive coordinator and Minnesota's previous head coach, retired again today, due to the same seizures that forced him to leave Minnesota in 2015. Always heard he was a good dude, and hopefully he can get the issue under control. Not sure how this impacts our biggest rival's recruiting (lol) and on field play (also lol), but Rutgers was definitely more competent with him there than previous years, so can't imagine it's a good thing for them.

No honestly hopes he gets it together

Kill had some really good NAIA teams at SVSU, going against Brian Kelly at GBSU several times. He also won the NAIA national championship one year, I think. Or he just got really close. Don't remember, damn my memory!

It seems that if your seizures are stress-induced, then maybe being an OC for a shit-show of an offense would be problematic.
I feel for anyone with seizures, but it seems like it would be hard to avoid stress in a decent program. Rutgers?
Hopefully he can find a place in a broadcast booth or some such to keep his toe in the pool. Kill knows a lot about the game, and seems to be an alright guy from what I've seen and read.

The problem is, leaving the stress can be just as stressful. Retirement is very hard on some people, and Kill seems like the type. (If he wasn't he probably would have retired long ago.)

I hope Kill made enough money to not have to work if he doesn't want to. If he does work, the booth would be great. I always wondered why a guy with seizures would go back to a job that usually demands 80-100 hours a week.

Sorry to see him leave. He may be better off away from Rutgers (lol) though. Not sure that place is good for anyone's health

Sorry - that's Tracy Claeys, the coach between Kills and Fleck.

Someone explain to me the fascination with dilly dilly. Why are so many people on this board saying it?

...to a current advertising campaign being run by a Belgium based multinational corporation with an estimated $260B in assets.
That's pretty much the definition of fascinating.

bud light commercial catchphrase.
modern day equivalent of when everyone was asying "wassaaaaaaapp". Was funny for a day and then super annoying for the 3 years that people kept doing it afterward.

I laughed at it the first time. Everytime after that I wanted to poke my eyeballs out. Maybe it was because I was watching Lions/Ravens at the time. Either way, now Dilly Dilly and Lions football make me want to pluck out my eyeballs.

I assume most people know this. I couldn't find a seizure gif of kill though.
Joking aside, good dude. I wish him the best of health.

I didn't like how his teams played (a lot of headhunting), but 'm sorry about his health and hope he can be OK.

Wasn't there a thread on here during the season where someone committed to Rutgers because of Kill?
Anyway, he seems like a nice dude. Hopefully he has a healthy retirement.

Dude reminds me of a middle school science teacher, and I mean that in a good way.

Ash put together a very young staff. It's easy to see him serving as a mentor to other coaches.
I hope he finds a way to stay involved in football and take care of his health. Maybe an offensive analyst gig. I don't like to give away someone else's time, but Division 2 and 3 still allow for volunteer coaches. He could still work with the players, the other coaches and recruit. If he needed to step away from those jobs, it's much less of a problem than for a HC or OC. That must have added to the stress.

"I don't have any regrets and I've had a blessed career. I love this game and all the coaches that I've worked with. They have all made Jerry Kill a better man. I know that I did it the right way and I did it my way. I gave everything I had to the game, I just ran out of juice."
Hopefully, he takes the time to focus on his health and find some balance. It will be interesting to see if he chooses a different role like broadcasting or something like that.

Coach Kill needs to take a year or two off and get better. If this condition is something he has to live with for the rest of his life then it may be time to focus on family rather than football, easier said then done...

He tried taking a year off before. I think he has to retire.

and a good coach. Hope he can get his health straightened out and enjoy his retirement.
