META - Anybody else having issues recently with malware when on site?
In the past two days I've had three instances where I'm reading a post (today it was Julian's farewell to the board) and suddenly MGoBlog disappears and in its place I've got an exciting offer from Time Warner or some other such garbage. This is happening on my very well protected work computer (shhhhh.....) so I'm wondering if there's isnt some sort of malicious code embedded here cause it's only happening to me when on MGoBlog and none of the other websites I visit when I'm pretending to work.
FYI I've run Malwarebytes immediately after this happens and each time it finds something and quarantines it so I know there is an issue in one of the sites I have open but the only constant is I'm on MGoBlog when it occurs. Anybody else having this problem recently?

Seth runs the business side of things, and I guess me has contracted with different dating sites to increase the revenue stream. I put up with it because it means an income for mgoblog and free website for me.
As I type this, the left side bar has an Asian single dating website up, that I can "join free."
I have to admit I'm curious. In my half year in Korea, and being in the Chicago area with tons of Poles and Russians, and living in an area with lots of Indian and Paki immigrants, I have never noticed that they look hardly anything like the girls in the pictures. Some kind of severte disconnect from reality to advertising here.

You picked quite the post to have a quintuple with.......
And for the record I get those too all the time. I figured it was from my Daily Mail visits cause that's the naughtiest site I visit.

Oh my, a sextuple post on sexy bits. Crap. Almost 10 years on the board. I should know better. This is about as bad as when I complained one night about sexy pics in posts. Smh. When will I ever learn.
I know . . . it wasn't my fault, it was the malware. Yep, that's the ticket.

From just about every world region. Also never been to any dating site of any kind.
Not happened today - just the usual ads for Residence Inn, Red Cross and Amazon.

which is a strong indicator you'd be in the market, regardless of whether you've been to the shady sites yet.
And yes, I realize that puts me in the same demo.

Yeah, I get them too, and my browsing history is pretty boring.
Just being on MGoBlog alone is enough to get you tagged for "mail-order-bride" type dating sites.
Look around. They are probably not wrong.

Whenever I used my iPad or iPhone, I win $1000 gift card from Google. (Only when going to this site) Not sure how to stop it. I've cleared by broswer history, and that doen't work. Blocking popups does no work either.

My reaction drill: Exit the site > go to Safari > Clear History and Website Data.
This only happens with MGoBlog. : (

Just a lot of Russian bride ads on the sidebars. Cant figure out why. . .
December 12th, 2017 at 2:05 PM ^
I'm curious about how ads on the internet work.
- Could we donate to mgoblog in order to block all mail order bride and dating websites?
- I know there are metrics for everything . . . I'd love to know how many hits those websites get. I mean, Brian has said, "do your amazon order through mgoblog." I wonder how much moola Brian and Seth and the blog get for every dating site hit, and more than that, for every dating site transaction. It's all about the money, right?

AFAIK, Google Adsense is based on impressions and clicks. Basically page views and actual clicks on the ads. I also heard that advertisers available to your niche also plays into how much you get paid per click, but I'm not sure.

Mgrowold, what adblocker software have you used?
December 12th, 2017 at 2:09 PM ^
I use AdBlock for chrome and never had any issues. I also run ghostery which is a script blocker.
December 12th, 2017 at 2:09 PM ^
uBlock Origin

The ads are a source of income for Brian, Seth and the guys and if I block the ads I block the revenue.
Now having said that the following is on the sidebar right now on my very clean and very non naughty site visiting work computer.....
December 12th, 2017 at 3:23 PM ^
I justify using adblock since all my amazon purchases are through the affiliate link.
December 12th, 2017 at 5:54 PM ^
I get this one too.
Would anybody in their right mind click on it?
It looks like your middle school buddies trying to troll you.

Dang I missed the Julian farewell. How'd that go, similar to Hatchett's at all?
December 12th, 2017 at 2:07 PM ^
I, too, am sad I missed the shenanigans.
December 12th, 2017 at 2:12 PM ^
It is found in the Texas Bball player Jones out indefinitely post. I didn't bother to read through Julian's posts. I pretty much ignore most trolls. I don't understand why they waste their time trying to get a rise out of everyone. Smh.
December 12th, 2017 at 2:28 PM ^
Thanks. One of the only posts I havn't clicked on today. And yea the trolls have been insufferable lately. So annoying but it still gives me a good laugh sometimes when they get outed.

When using safari on my mobile (iphone 7), yes, and often.
When using safari on my laptop (macbook pro, old, running El Cap), not yet ever.

It is definitely a problem on mobile devices.
