Plan for the worst. OSU beats Wisconsin and makes it over Alabama. Fully prepared for it the way this season has gone.
November 30th, 2017 at 12:11 PM ^
but if a 31 point loss to a 7-5 team doesn't knock you out of the playoff as a two loss team then what does? Nothing?

Clemson Wins, TCU Wins, OSU Wins, Auburn Wins. The four teams are:
1. Clemson 2. Auburn 3. Bama 4. Georgia

I hesitate to believe 2 loss UGA makes it over 2 loss OSU with a confrence Championship
November 30th, 2017 at 9:47 AM ^
Georgia is only in if they beat Auburn. The only way Bama is in is if Oklahoma loses to TCU.

Have you watched Bama play this year? Their LBs are beat up and their 3rd down offense is shit. OSU would wreck them right now, especially seeing as Miss ST uses a lot of the same concepts with less talent and were in prime position to win.
If you have watched CFB other than Michigan over the last two years, you would know that the committee cares more about quality wins than terrible losses.
November 30th, 2017 at 9:58 AM ^
So OSU couldn't wreck a team led by John O'Korn, but they would wreck Alabama? Okay.
November 30th, 2017 at 10:14 AM ^
Saban defenses get destroyed by read/option QBs, just depends if they can muster the offense to win a shootout. He's 0-7 against Auburn when Auburn has 9 wins or more to end the season. Lost to Cardale Jones in the championship. Gave up 463 yards to Watson alone last year, and 478 yards to him the year before.
Michigan had the DL and LB play to compete with OSU this year. Bama's LB unit is decimated by injuries and they have had competitive games against Texas A&M (!), LSU, and Miss ST. LSU even had more offensive yards than Bama in their loss and their offense is total ass.

The B1G is the best conference? Based on what, exactly?
The B1G has the worst ratio of bowl eligible teams to conference members of any of the Power 5 conferences:
B1G -- 8/14
ACC -- 10/14 (I am including FSU as I assume they will beat Louisiana Monroe)
B12 -- 8/10
Pac12 -- 9/12
SEC -- 10/14
I think one can make a strong case that the B1G was the worst Power 5 conference this season.

How many years ago was that. Different players and coach. Stupid analogy. Osu loses to Wisconsin and their bowl game hopefully against someone like Georgia.

As long as Alabama gets the shaft, I don't care who the four playoff teams are.
November 30th, 2017 at 9:32 AM ^
is OSU, you're ok with that?
November 30th, 2017 at 9:46 AM ^
I'm still somewhat numb from the season. It wouldn't bother me much at this point in time. Even if they do, I'd expect them to get taken out in the first round.
November 30th, 2017 at 10:17 AM ^
Nope. America doesn't want to see OSU get curb stomped again.
OSU beats Wisconsin, but gets snubbed in favor of Bama.

What do you think is worse for their program perception:
Getting 'left out' as a conference championship winner from a strong conference and winning a NYD bowl game.
Or
Sneaking into the playoffs as the 4 seed just in time to get hamblasted by Clemson for the second playoffs in a row, for their 3rd blowout loss of this season alone?
November 30th, 2017 at 10:26 AM ^
I think knowing Michigan's luck, OSU would sneak in and "get hot" at the right time a la 2014. Yes, JK Dobbins is not Ezekiel Elliott, but that kind of thing WOULD happen.
Something like Clemson just plays a bad game and OSU sneaks by, and then the uber-motivated OSU team shows up to play Oklahoma for a rematch and shuts Mayfield down after he's gotten used to playing teams with no defense for the last three months. I hate going all Maizen on this conversation, but seriously, that kind of situation WOULD happen.
November 30th, 2017 at 9:36 AM ^
So you'd rather see OSU sneak in with a chance to win it all than Bama?
November 30th, 2017 at 9:34 AM ^
I hate saying this, but I think OSU beats Wisconsin and sneaks in. It actually wouldn't even surprise me to see OSU absolutely crush Wisconsin, in which case they're definitely in.
Bama is the first one out but I'd rather see them sneak in and fuck OSU like what they did to Penn State last year. I'm hoping that no matter what happens in the BTCG, the committee still looks at OSU and can't get over how they gave up 55 points to Iowa. But wish in one hand....
Anywho, my final four:
1) Clemson
2) Auburn
3) Oklahoma
4) OSU
If Barrett plays against Clemson, I think Clemson wins. And could potentially win comfortably. If Haskins is under center, I really think it could get interesting. Auburn wins a shootout with Oklahoma and sets up a rematch with Clemson in the title game. I honestly don't care who wins between those two as long as it's a great game. But since I think Malzahn is kind of a douche, I'd rather see Clemson repeat.

A. He was injured by a damn cameraman.
B. He was injured at someone swiping at his leg attempting to tackle. (probably put the twist on his knee)
Unless he got some deer antler spray I don't think he's going to be able to play at a lot more ball especially when the teams are biggest-fastest-strongest of the season.
November 30th, 2017 at 10:00 AM ^
...no dog in this hunt. Don't really care. To me, the playoff system (selection process) is so fundamentally flawed and biased that I don't give it much merit.
November 30th, 2017 at 10:01 AM ^
WISC is going to win the whole darn thing.
Why?
Because, the cheese, man. The cheese.
November 30th, 2017 at 10:02 AM ^
OSU is going to get in, and they're going to win it all. MSU is then going to win the national title in basketball.
You know it's coming.

November 30th, 2017 at 10:09 AM ^
If OSU beats Wisco, I can't see any way they don't get in. The rankings have been moving for weeks to put them in that position, just as happened in '15 and '17.
November 30th, 2017 at 11:27 AM ^
November 30th, 2017 at 1:07 PM ^
then Alabama would get into the playoffs. There are a lot of bama fans who will be rooting their heads off for OSU.
November 30th, 2017 at 1:19 PM ^
The head of the selection committee went out of his way to say that there was very little separating #5 through #8.
If Ohio State beats theunly undefeated P5 team and wins a conference championship, that is more than enough to separate them from the rest of those teams. There is literally zero chance they would not pass Alabama.
Note that I don't necessarily agree with this evaluation-- in my mind, getting blown out by Iowa should be disqualifying-- but the comments that the committee has made when releasing rankings the last three years have always been pointed and true. If he said there's little separating them, then that's what their evaluation is.
November 30th, 2017 at 10:11 AM ^
Bama is out unless TCU beats Oklahoma...and even then they might not make it. Committee putting them at #5 this week was the writing on the wall. Don't see how they move up a spot for not playing. Even last year, OSU dropped from #2 to #3 during the conference championships. And then the committee chair's comments about 5-8 being "very close" also tells you they would take OSU over Bama if OSU wins the B10.
Best case scenario here is Wisky takes care of OSU. The winner of the B10 is in.
November 30th, 2017 at 10:24 AM ^
Agree, everything is pretty cut and dry at the moment:
ACC winner is in. SEC winner is in. Oklahoma is in if they beat TCU. Big Ten winner is in as long as Oklahoma also wins.
If Oklahoma loses, OSU is out no matter what. In that scenario it's Wisconsin and Bama in if Wisconsin wins, and Bama and chaos for the last spot if OSU wins.
