Make whatever excuse you want, this offense is a reeking, rotting turd heap. And it's not getting better. Frustrating and disappointing.

I thought the offense looked solid with Peters in the game. He had some stalled drives, but overall, Michigan was moving the ball decently.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:14 PM ^
I was pleased with how well the game was going, particularly against "the #1 Defense in the country."
Sure, the refs took one touchdown which would have been nice to have--but M was mixing in some nice passing plays, and was moving the ball far, far better than Wisconsin. Just check the yards at halftime.
After Peters was knocked out of the game, everything changed: Momentum, effort, pass-catching, play-calling.
The sobriety of players kneeling and watching Peters' fate was telling. On the upside, it appears the team accepts Peters as a leader--which bodes well for the future.

Yeah, this is something we need to remember. We were on pace for a solid, but not great performance against the #1 defense in the country before Peters went out. It's staggering how bad O'Korn is.
November 18th, 2017 at 4:25 PM ^
I agree with you all around, but the team's reaction to Peters from a performance standpoint was pretty intense. As soon as he went out, I knew the game was done, and honestly, so did they.
You can talk about 'steel in the spine' and all that, but when your backup QB had trouble against Purdue, and you're down on the road, it's going to really bum you out.
November 18th, 2017 at 5:25 PM ^
I guess I don't find one real drive that resulted in points and a field goal after an interception in field goal range "pleasing". Peters played almost all of the 3rd quarter and the offense did nothing at least in terms of scoring points.

They cant pick up a stunt or a blitz from the right side of the line. Been that way all seasons. Peters and DPJ made mistakes but you can see the talent is there
Playcalling and design are horrible. No athletes get the ball in space.

Hoping Peters is okay. Radio said they were looking at a head injury at the hospital. Also hope Speight can somehow play next week. Or else it'll be very, very ugly.
November 18th, 2017 at 3:39 PM ^
Once again, for what, the 25th time this year (?) our offensive line was totally and completely unable to deal with stunts and twists from an opposing defense. Basic shit cannot be stopped in week 11. Tim Drevno hurt Peters and should appologize to him and his family. Criminally poor coaching.

JBB had to take the inside defensive player but there's no one to pick up the outside defender. That's not on JBB for it.

Run game was a mirage, which was kind of expected due to the low competition. But wow you got 3 weeks to get better at blocking stunts in pass pro and what do you do?
You get the future of the program killed.
I'm fucking DONE with the oline problems. Fire Frey and Drevno. Get a god damn oline coach who can recruit tackles.
Cristobal at Oregon or even Wisconsin's Oline coach. Idc.

We ran into one of the best defensive fronts in the big 10. We needed backs that could push the pile and find small spaces but unfortunately, Higdon was out. Isaac would have even helped. Evans is good, but this is not his type of game. When Peters went out, they could really load up on the run. The bigger issue is our lack of wide receivers so that the defense has to respect the pass more.

This O-line is getting our QB's killed. Next week with JOK may look really bad. None of our pass catchers are consistent enough to be a threat.
Bosa and Hubbard are going to wreck us.

if Peters and Speight are out, is Malzone the second string QB next week?

the first sack was on Peters. He has to know there's an unblocked rusher on his frontside and he held onto the ball too long. That's a good example of an internal clock being too slow.

where Peters holding onto the ball too long and get hit/sacked as a result of it aren't on the OL. Not sure if that's a habit he developed during HS or it's his inexperience that he doesn't understand that he needs to get the ball out quicker.
November 18th, 2017 at 3:39 PM ^
for an improved running game.
November 18th, 2017 at 3:40 PM ^
Stunt, sack. Stunt, injured QB. Starting Evans over Higdon in a power run game. Running wild cat and give up plays on third and eight. Not great, Bob. Yes, the offense was better with Peters running it, but they were still about to be down 21-10 before O'Korn entered the game. The offense sucks. I don't know where to go from here. Most teams would fire a coach but Harbaugh has his guys in there and signs of on the offense. I'm not sure. It sucks.

They were going to limit his carries.

Not great, but that defense, especially the run defense, is for real. So couldn't expect much and we moved the ball fairly well against them until Peters went out. Line calls are still atrocious.
O'Korn is very, very bad. It was obvious we had no chance when Peters got hurt. And honestly the team played like that.

Absolutely no edge pass protection, whether from OT or RB. And the backup to the backup QB was playing...and nothing happened. Still.

That's right, this offensive line is soft against a good defense. These guys need to get in the weight room big time and work on their foot speed so fucking bad it makes me sick. It's not coaching. It's this teams mentality. There's no toughness. One of those fucking offensive lineman should've been right in that d-linemans face for planting Peters like that. I don't care if there is fucking penalty or not. Nor do I give a shit what any Michigan coach would say that doesn't understand that concept. Someone has to LAY DOWN THE MOTHER FUCKING LAW AND IT HAS TO BE THE BIG GUYS. Michigan's biggest and toughest guys have no nuts and are candy asses.
