OT: Deshaun Watson gives first paycheck to 3 cafeteria ladies affected by Hurricane Harvey.
I honestly don't care if it's not OT season - with everything going on right now, we need something that everyone can agree is positive.
Class act and hats off to Watson.
HOUSTON -- Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson donated his first game check to three women who work in the NRG Stadium cafeteria and who were especially affected by the flooding from Hurricane Harvey.

He's also gritty and a coach's kid.

I hope he becomes a star in the NFL... we need more folks like him in the limelight.

While I see the question you're trying to ask and the issue you're trying to raise here, please don't ruin what is otherwise a very nice moment in sports and human interest here.
I personally think it is an awesome gesture.

He ruined the moment for you with his mgoblog post?
Seriously?

Ehh, if LSA asks me to stop being a dick, I should probably stop being a dick. I was just walking around with this stick in my hand and saw this wasp nest hanging here and couldn't help but poke at it a little bit.

Is this donation a gift that would not be subject to Uncle Sam and Florida state income tax?
It's a great gesture by the young man. It just sucks if most of that money ends up in the hands of bureaucrats in Tallahassee or Washington DC.
September 28th, 2017 at 12:47 AM ^
Florida doesn't have state income tax.
Also, Houston is in Texas (which also doesn't have state income tax).

As a Texans fan I'm very happy we traded up to get Watson. Looks like we finally have a QB and he's a helluva guy too.

How good would this guy been at a place like Michigan?
Classiest act that has come out of college football in quite some time.
Kills me to think he played for Dabo.

You're joking, right?
Clemson went from a program like (insert some school like Mississippi) to a national power in similar fashion to Mississippi.
September 28th, 2017 at 11:01 AM ^
I don't buy Dabo's act for a second. I think we'll find out that program is dirty as fuck.
September 28th, 2017 at 8:06 AM ^
But it's a shame that being a decent and generous person is so rare these days that it warrants national media attention.

people give all the time. What makes this stand out is the amount. I'd gladly give what I could to help someone as would a bunch of people. What I couldn't do is hand them 9k or an entire paycheck. That makes it special. Plus, he came from nothing and had a charity help him. He's giving back in the way he was helped which also makes it very cool.

Jk that's very nice of him.
